The glimmer was a crystal. In fact, it led to a room where crystals reflected light for you to see. I. The center of the room, there was a old pedestal. It have a very old and rusted lever.

You fell.... and fell.... and then you landed. Though some form of magic, the fall caused no harm, despite the fact it would have been lethal otherwise. The room was heavily illuminated by one thing. The massive 22 foot crystal in the center.
