It's sometimes hard to know who is talking in a group chat because there are no names and not everybody has a profile picture. It would be useful to have the name appear when hovering over the profile picture. For mobile users it would appear when they hold down on the picture as well.

This can easily be done by adding a title attribute to the image tag.

Edit:
Actually, it would also make sense to have the picture be a link to their profile.
