I was thinking about something to help for collecting items. Maybe this could get added in a tab of GTS for example. Here is how it could work:
- Each user could tick on few items that they are looking for or buying (maybe this number could be 2-3 so the system doesn't get too much or heavy). Optional could be some message with the things you could offer
- With the search button on top, you could select an item (for example you want to sell that to someone). Then a list of all users who are looking for that one item (who have ticked that on) are listed below and you could send a PM to them to work out a trade.
- Maybe there could be an option to click on the user who is looking for the item you selected, so they would get a notification saying like 'User X would have an item you're looking for' so they get notified and could PM or pp that user too. -> 'Details' could be turned into 'Send notification to user' (See images below)

Another option could be to select in your item bag as your 'favourite' item, so it's listed on top on the bag. This could be useful when collecting items too I think.

If anything isn't clear, please let me know :)

Here is an example of how it could look like:

This sounds great especially for users who prepare big hunts :)

I like the idea of favouriting items in your bag.
However, the rest of it is.... egh. It can lead to a LOT of spam. E.g. "Hi I'm selling x that you're interested in, please buy?" Nah I don't like your price "pls? Pls? pls? pls? pls? pls?" etc'
The 'send notification to user' button can also be abused in the same way (spamming someone's notification wall)
Or you might get messages saying "hey I see you're interested in x I don't have it, but how about you buy <other item> instead?"
I think the current system that already exists (being able to search items in the GTS, as well as users able to post feeds if they are buying/selling something, as well as the ability to create a hashtag if you're buying/selling, as WELL as the auction house) is enough for looking for items.
Maybe implementing the favourite item(s) would be a good idea.

@Accident: The idea is to collect all users who are collecting item X. Also if you dont want to be on that list, then you dont need to tick it on :)
As of spamming, the messages would be safe as it is for GTS so I dont see much problems with it (it can be left out easily too). And the send notification was only an idea (can be done as you can only click once in a week or so). As you ticked it on yourself mentioning you're looking for/collecting those items, you'd kinda like if you could actually buy it I think (so other people messaging you, they have that item for you)

Atm the items are spread at GTS, AH, feeds and so on, but not at 1 place. In AH it's hard to find that 1 item you're looking for; in feed you have to be friends or see that feed; GTS only lists which items people have, not looking for and so also not collected. That's why I thought it'd be good to have 1 place to combine all this (as optional for each user).

@Zarkesh and Foreveralone: Thanks for your support! ^^

In GTS, people are easily able to look for the items they want because they can type it in the message. e.g. if I set up 60k PD I could be like "looking for 120 grass gems". If people are looking for a specific item, they are able to advocate for themselves.
And, again, there's hashtags as well as the 'newest feeds' in the notification wall, for people to see if users are buying/selling items. If they make a public feed, it will show up in the newest feeds (until it's not considered new, at least.)
I don't know how the fact that the messages relate to the GTS automatically make it 'safe'. There is no way to moderate what a user says in the PM/Palpad when they message someone who is buying or selling an item.

Also, this could be an annoyance with the blocklist and would require more work with the block list to make sure 1) you aren't seeing trades of people you've blocked. 2) people you've blocked aren't seeing YOUR trades. 3) even if you see the trades, someone you have blocked/someone who has blocked you should not be able to message you or send you notifications, because that defeats the purpose of being blocked.

Again I want to point out this kind of list would collect this all, instead of some part here, there and so on. It'd be lots easier to see such combined list, than looking at Newest feeds, hashtags, GTS, AH, ... That's what my point exactly is.
And of the messages, GTS deals with the same issues then so that's what I meant earlier.
Also with other lists (online userlist, GTS public trades, ranklist, berrybooth and so on), they all show the people on blocking lists too, so this wouldnt be any different I guess? They all deal with the same issues, so this wouldnt make it a reason that this would be a bad idea to do I think.

The way you described it made it sound like the list would be for a user to *specifically* contact or notify another user.
I quote, "Maybe there could be an option to click on the user who is looking for the item you selected, so they would get a notification saying like 'User X would have an item you're looking for'"

If someone was gonna repeatedly click on the user/spam the notifications...?
Also, I still don't really see the point if not everyone is going to use it x'D as you said you can opt in or opt out of it, but it just becomes ANOTHER one of those "incomplete lists" that you talk about, so why include it if it won't be complete?

Yes 'maybe' I said and also again if you are on that list, then you are wanting to get messages of users who have that item. And as already said too, there could be a limit of notifications, so there wont be any spam.
I wouldn't say it's an 'incomplete' list as I think if you are collecting something, you would use it as it could make it easier to collect stuff, or if you're selling those stuff to look for a buyer. So in that way you'll get the complete list of possible buyers. Idk which with thing you have problems with, because I think it's clear, if not feel free to ask :)

You won't get the complete list because not everyone will want to use it/not everyone will sign up for it. That's why the list wouldn't be complete. If I was buying grass gem, but didn't opt into it... The list for people buying grass gems wouldn't be complete because I wasn't on it.
It doesn't really make a combined list; it just adds another list to the mix.

I dont agree to that tbh, if you dont opt for it, you arent interesting really maybe. The point is that this list contains everyone who is actively searching for item x and actually wants to buy it and so accepting messages from other users for this. So when everyone who wants this will opt for it and this will make it complete.

Right, but they will also just check the GTS for the items they're buying.
Think of it this way:
The GTS is a (mostly complete - as complete as probably this will be) list of people SELLING.
If people want to buy, they go look in the GTS.
What you're creating is the exact same, except opposite:
A list of BUYERS, so that sellers can message the buyers.
It already exists, in the form of the GTS. Just reversed. :L

That's just the thing, to get it reversed, as not everything people have, is at GTS. You can set up PD for a map for example, unless it's on the front page, not many users will see it. If they look at this list, they would see right away that you're looking for that specific map. Else you have to go through ALL PD offers. This is only 1 example though

I like the idea of a wishlist or wanted section. Rather then sending pm's or notifications could it be set up so that the buyer/collector has trade options pre-set. For example if I was buying star pieces I could set up trades for either 50k pd, 1 dragon gem per star piece or 30 nuggets (there could be a limit set so only a selected number per trade) and sellers can pick if they want that trade or not. The invite to pm collectors could be an opt in option.

You could either post PD looking for a map
.....or you look in the GTS directly for the map, and if the map isn't there/people aren't taking PD, then you check again the next day? While ALSO posting up PD for a map, in case someone does see your GTS post?
I mean, it's not hard to use the search function if you want to buy something..

@CedarStar: Ty for the support
@Dracojax: Glad you like the idea :) Though I wouldn't do with offering itself maybe as that's what you can do at GTS kind of, only if it'd be a set amount and direct trade but I think it'd get too complicated like that
@Accident: I don't think you are giving new arguments but rather giving same ones again and again, as the answer stays the same. So as I said before, the wishlist as Dracojax said is to combine things for collecting for example for BIG hunts. It'd make things little easier also for selling directly and buying things. This is meant for collectors more as for little stuff you can easily find at GTS. If you want other example: if you would be selling Ground gems, then you have to look at feeds (nothing there);at AH ? (not good idea either) ; GE? (only if you want to trade for gems); GTS? Yes you can set up some amount and hope others will other what you want OR with this list you could see who all is buying and offering at 1 time so based on what YOU want for those gems you can see who'd be good for the trade.

I'm posing similar arguments because you haven't answered or 'solved' them to the point where they are no longer a question. Which is why I'm still asking about them.

Edit to add: I'm not saying necessarily that the idea is bad. I'm saying the idea has it's faults & that it appears to be very similar, even as an 'add-on' to the GTS; that perhaps including this function would be more effort than it's worth, because the GTS does a lot of this already - you're just looking for a way to improve it (it seems), but again.. there's a lot of work that would go into creating this, when it is very similar to the functions of the GTS.

I did reply to every part of your post I thought? Or tried too. Im not sure what's not clear then, but Ill can sum them up for you.
1. The GTS is using the same 'message methods' for trading so this isn't a problem I think (else GTS wouldnt work like it works now I think).
2. This list contains users who are collecting stuff to make collecting for them bit easier in the first place. Users who wants to sell items for example some type of Gem, they can easily see who's buying them (for example for their SM hunts).
3. The idea of notification was so users who are maybe bit anxious to directly contact others to make this little easier. Also to notify the collector-user that someone has the item they're looking for. This is just an idea, not a 'must' (this list stays the main suggestion idea of this thread).
4. Everyone who would want to be on this list and tick on few items (with a set maximum of like 2-3), would actually want to get those items so it seems logical to me that these users wants to have contact with users who want to trade with them and make a deal.
5. I know GTS is kinda the opposite, that's why just this suggestion, as you only find on GTS what available is and what users have set up. You dont know what others are collecting (unless like on the first page or so). Also if you are offering PD for a map, then it's bit hard for others to find your trade if they search on 'PD trades'. If you see a list instead of users who are looking for the map and offering PD, I think that's lots easier that way.
6. Atm the item trades are all spread out, in AH (already hard to find a specific item), feeds (you have to be friends, on newest feeds, have to see them and so on), GTS easier but reason said above (nr. 5), so making a combined list for collectors specially would seem a good idea for the collectors amongst us (also other users could benefit from this though, just saying example for collectors).

If you want me to answer any other question, feel free :)

[EDIT] at nr. 3: This notification would have to be set on a limit to do only once each two weeks/month. This to prevent misusing this way to disturb users in the wrong way.

Ahh, now it's summed up, yeah you've replied to most/all of my questions
My final point still stands though, just that it's probably more effort than it's worth to implement. If the notifications were like the GTS ones (e.g. "you have a new offer on your trade!" or similar, sent BY the GTS and not sent on-demand by the user) that might work.
Again - not a bad idea, just seems like a lot of work to put in aha ;;
If I do have any other questions I'll be sure to post them
