Does the Shiny Rod cause an increase in how much time you have to reel in a Pokemon/item over the Super Rod (like how the Super Rod does for the Pokemon you can catch with a Good/Old Rod), or does it only increase shiny chance?

Don't ask me, I only have the old rod, but I ASSUME it does the second one.

Yeah, it seems like the shiny rod has some effect on that. At least it seems like the yellow box goes slower.
