Sapphire looked at Draig. "If you can bring one to Fang that would
help. I am sure he is still resting and he need to eat. Thank you"
she said with a nod.
Fang slowly stood up. "Moving to where" he asked. His scarlet blood
could be seen in the faint light.
The stallion bellowed out and reared once more before he took off
to where Rose was.
Ratholas was rather angry to see the crimson, his blood ran colder
than it already was. ''To caves higher up in the mountain...I know
we are already far enough above, but we must go deeper into the
mountain and higher. Only if you can make it.'' He sighed. ''If you
cannot, I will try to negotiate with Sapphire to stay here a little
longer till you...heal.'' He nodded. ''I do not want to push
you.''
Draig stretched out his wings and lifted to the air with two yaks.
''Will do, Sapphire. Be careful now.'' He began to fly back to the
caves with the food.
Stryke was rather worried about Rose and began to the stable to get
his own horse. However, Roda stopped him. ''Do not bother. Let her
return on her own. She needs to face her mistakes.'' She
glared.
Kovu held tight, ever so worried about the Tribe Leader's daughter.
He heard all that Roda said and really wished to tell her as
well.
Fang looked at Ratholas. "I will be alright if I move slowly" he
said as he took a couple steps. "Would you be willing to help me"
he asked.
The stallion skid to a stop near where Rose was and reared before
he bellowed out once more.
Sapphire looked around after Draig left and suddenly smelled Rose.
She let out a growl as she sniffed the bush Rose was in. Frost
breath filled the bush, causing Rose to shiver.
Ratholas bowed his head with a smile at Fang. ''I would not miss an
opportunity to help a wounded dragon. We can go as slow as you
wish, at your pace. I also know that Kalores will help if we need
another dragon.''
Kovu nearly went right over the neck of the stallion when he
stopped, but slid off when he reared. He hit the ground hard and
cringed, looking at the stallion before his eyes went wide at the
dragon. He was never, ever that close to a dragon. He looked around
for Rose, seeing a dead yak made him panic even more. The dragon
was out for blood and Rose must have been hiding. He took cover
behind a tree, searching for a glimpse of her.
Fang smiled, "Thank you" he said. He slowly made his way to the
higher caves in the mountain, though slipped every now and
then.
Rose looked back hearing her horse and saw Kovu. *What is he doing
here* she thought before she looked back at the dragon that stood
up and let out a mighty roar before she killed another two yaks and
took off with them. Rose slowly made her way out of the bush as her
stallion took off once again.
Ratholas was at Fang’s side the whole time, without hesitation
whatsoever. Even when he saw Draig go to his cave, not knowing if
he heard the news.
Draig landed with the yaks, keeping both to himself only because
Ratholas was with Fang. Jealousy ran deep when it came to that
dragon. So, he decided to wait and move his family up the mountain
like Fang was doing. “Kalores and Sarkany, we must relocate. Humans
harmed Fang last night and Sapphire is worried of some attack.” He
sighed. “We can eat once we find another cave higher up on the
mountain.”
Sarkany looked down then around at their cave.”Fang was hurt?” She
disliked hearing that. “But why do we have to move when humans are
too weak to attack us?”
Kalores looked at Draig then at Sarkany with a sigh.”Young
one...”
Kovu flinched and cowered hearing the roar that would scare anyone.
Once she left with her prize, he hurried out to Rose.”What do you
think you are doing?! You are not supposed to go anywhere near a
dragon! You didn’t even hear what happened last night did you?
Before you ran off and found this one!” He was furious as the
situation was terrible. He was not fond of dragons after seeing the
deaths of yaks.
Rose looked at Kovu. "I didn't go looking for a dragon. I rode to
get away from Hunter. I'm sick of having him at my side at all
times" she said before she watched the dragon in the sky. "It knew
where I was, but it didn't attack me."
Fang saw a dark cave and smiled. "This one should be just fine" he
said. "Thank you Ratholas" he said with a nod to the other
dragon.
Sapphire was high in the sky watching the humans and shook her head
before she headed back to the mountain.
Kovu walked closer to Rose, shaking his head just listening to her.
''Hunter likes you, he is just trying to help.'' He muttered,
glancing around for the dragon again in fear that it was still
around. ''I can't imagine that the dragon would spare you after we
injured a dragon ourselves.'' He murmured. ''The dragon must not
have seen you or smelled you otherwise I think it would have killed
you.'' He sighed, shaking his head. ''As we're trying to kill
dragons now. You left before your father ordered everyone to stay
in the village.''
Ratholas nodded to Fang. ''We will have a yak for you in a short
moment. You just have to rest.'' He nodded backing up and taking
off to Draig, who he didn't mind at all.
Draig just held the yaks while nudging Sarkany on Kalores' back.
''The humans have weapons that can injury you and or kill you, for
being so young.'' He nodded, taking off to higher points of the
mountain.
Kalores sighed as she followed after Draig. ''If Fang was just
injured, then you could be killed. You are far too young to truly
know the problems that we have had.''
Rose sighed. "Trust me. Hunter doesn't like me" she said. She shook
her head. "Thank you for coming after me" she replied. "Why are we
fighting so much with them? What did that dragon do for us to hurt
it" she asked.
Fang laid down and took a deep breath. He was still tired.
Sapphire made her way higher up the mountain and dropped off the
yaks at a nice spot that would allow the others to grab them if
they were hungry.
Kovu crossed his arms as he didn't believe that Hunter would stick
around her for no reason. He brushed that aside for a moment before
sighing. ''All I know is that it went after our sheep or cattle
last night. Would have killed the watch man and the guarding dogs
just as easily if we didn't intervene. All dragons want to do is
kill us and take our food. They cannot be trusted.''
Ratholas took the yaks right from Draig as he took off up the
mountain. ''I will take these. Just make sure your family has a
safe cave. The yaks will be on a perch for you to grab once you
find the new home.'' He smiled towards Sarkany who wasn't excited
to go. ''Don't you worry, hatchling. There is nothing to worry
about.''
Draig growled at Ratholas before relenting, giving up on it.
''Thank you.'' He seemly hissed before him and his mate took off to
a new cave. Ratholas didn't understand the cold greeting, he never
understood what he did to Draig.
Rose looked at Kovu. "I never said I trusted them. I just want to
live in peace with them. No fighting needed if you think about it"
she replied. "We best get back. I wonder what my mother will say to
my stallion taking off" she said.
Sapphire found a nice cave and instantly started putting ice in it
before she nodded to herself. "This will be perfect" she said. It
was just large enough where she could take on a mate and have
hatchlings in it and keep them safe.
Kovu began away from Rose towards the village with a shaking head.
''Oh, do you really want to know what she thought of it? She called
you foolish and would not allow your father to go after you. She
came outside hearing about the attack and well, it isn't pretty to
what she has on her mind. Forgive me, but I was eavesdropping,
waiting to speak to your father. She wasn't exactly quiet
either...Pretty sure she was trying to tell it to everyone while
you were away.''
Ratholas saw where Sapphire put her yaks and quickly put the two he
gathered from Draig. He decided to find a cave himself that suited
him, even when he spent little time in one.
Draig was looking around for a perfect one as Sarkany was picky.
She wanted one that matched her or was basically like the one she
was born in.
Rose shook her head. "Sometimes I wish she would just leave. She
hardly talks to my father or me either, and its not fair. What
exactly did she say" she asked.
Sapphire walked to look outside the cave, wondering how the others
were doing picking their new caves. She didn't like that she forced
them to move, but she had no choice when it was putting them in
danger.
Kovu looked over at Rose, actually surprised a bit she wanted her
mother to leave. He looked ahead and sighed. ''She told everyone or
will be telling everyone, that whoever kills a dragon or many
dragons, will be your husband.''
Sarkany saw a cave that was reddish in tint and smiled. ''That
one!" She pointed. ''I want that one!"
Kalores looked over at Draig before smiling a bit.'' It looks
rather nice and another red cave I see. How about this one Draig?"
She asked.
Draig sighed and nodded. ''That is fine, it will work for us.''
Rose stopped in her tracks. "What?! No! I wont marry whoever kills
a dragon. I just wont" she said shaking her head. "That's not how
the next tribe leader should be picked" she said. "What did my
father say" she asked as her blue eyes hit Kovu.
Sapphire looked hearing Draig and his family. Their cave wasn't too
far from hers, which meant she could watch the hatchling if she
needed to without leaving her cave.
Kovu had to look away from Rose, he couldn't look her straight in
the eyes. ''He objected of course ad wanted you to know about this,
likely so you could fight it with him...but your mother began to
yell...say some things...and he went quiet.'' He sighed, glancing
at her. ''He really didn't want to argue with her.''
Kalores walked in and examined the seemly brighter red cave that
was soft and mud like. ''You enjoy odd caves, little Sarkany.''
Sarkany hopped down and enjoyed how malleable the ground was and
the walls. ''I enjoy mud and clay...and this cave fits it
perfectly!" She smiled.
Draig did not seem to like it and moved away to get a yak for the
two.
Kovu walked alongside her and nodded a bit.”I couldn’t help it. I
rather be the first one to tell you than the man standing before
you demanding marriage.” He nodded sympathetically. “But you should
give Hunter a chance. He is always helping you, always in the
stables. I think he would be a good leader besides my dimwit cousin
on my mom’s side. He tho is he should be the leader because he is
all strong and better than everyone. He likes you a lot too. Unlike
Hunter who I am sure actually likes you and doesn’t care about the
leader position. Like your mother.”
Rose shook her head. "I wish that were true, but you should hear
the way Hunter's father forces him to be by my side. He doesn't
talk to me at all" she replied.
Kovu wasn’t sure what to say, a few people as well seemly agreed
that Hunter was going to be the next tribe leader. They knew
nothing more and just figured because of the constant “being there
for her” type thing. “Oh, I didn’t know that it was his father who
was pushing it.” He sighed. “I am sure other parents must be the
same and try to be your friend for favoritism.” He looked ahead on
the path they were walking. “I just hope you find the right one. I
have trust in you, but I suggest staying clear of my family.
Besides Kona, I think you would like her as a friend. She is in a
similar position, but it isn’t so stressful as yours of course.” He
nodded. “Other than that, stay away from Clover Lane and Crismon
Hill, my families reside in the village there.” He smiled.
