Duskwind shouldered past the other cats, not seeing them or caring of the looks he got. He walked on ahead past Flamestar, and pushed through the undergrowth, branches scratching at his pelt. Hawkpool....Redkit...my kit..., his thoughts were weak, not being able to form words inside or out. He came into the turtle rock clearing, and stared at the mountain looming ahead of him. For the first time, the sight of the mountain pained him in a way he could barely comprehend.
Sunkit walked close to Bramblekit, shivering slightly. She had heard most of what Ashpelt said to Duskwind, and didn't understand. Who is Hawkpool? Did Duskwind love her?, she pondered, confused.
Ashpelt sat down in a shaded hollow? He licked mud from his paws as he sat down. Bramblekit went over to Ashpelt and looked at Sunkit in concern.
Dawnpelt looked around the clearing anxiously; she had not seen the medicine cat since the other day, and did not see him now. " I'm not sure, Tigerstripe. I can help you for now, " she said, searching for marigold in the bundle of herbs.
Tigerstripe nodded and went to look for something to help the other cats. She then dropped some thyme near the warrior. "Please take this to Sunkit it'll help her calm down, I'll give her one poppy seed when we get either to PineClan or stop for the night" she mewed gently hoping to get the warrior to go to her kit
Greenbush had successfully managed to drag out quite a bit of thyme, knowing it was going to be necessary for many cats. "I'm over here," He called, already pawing some thyme towards a warrior.
Feathercloud watched Duskwind walk off and winced, knowing whatever happened had not been good. She returned her attention to the rest of the clan, bounding around to make sure no injuries were life threatening.
Dawnpelt took the thyme gently in her teeth, obeying the medicine cat's orders. She carried the herbs to her kit, who was withdrawn with a glazed look in her eyes. " Please, little one, " she purred in hushed tone, " Eat these, you'll feel better, " she said, nudging the herbs towards her kit. Sunkit paws at the herbs absentmindedly.
Tigerstripe nodded slightly grateful for Greenbush being safe. She then took some thyme to Duskwind.
"Come on Sunkit you'll feel better after eating these" Bramblekit mewled gently and nosed the herbs back to his sister. He was concerned for her as she stared at the thyme. I've got to stay strong for her...she needs me Bramblekit thought to himself and tried not to let the fear that pricked his paws to get to him.
Duskwind stared blankly past Tigerstripe as she approached him, not giving any sign that she knew she was there.
"Come on Duskwind eat the thyme it'll make you feel better" she meowed gently trying to get the warrior to eat the herb.
Dawnpelt lay down and curled her tail around her kits, pulling them closer to her. She looked around at her clan, everyone sharing the same lost, defeated look in their eyes. What a sight, she thought, and glanced ahead at the mountain rising above the trees. What will Pineclan think? And we bring them the news of Hawkpool as well..., Dawnpelt thought with a pain of regret.
Ashpelt looked at his small family before he left the clearing. He was hiding a limp as he left the temporary camp. The warrior then drew his ears back and parted his jaws in order to find something.
Ashpelt parted his jaws and caught the scent of a rabbit. He went forward and saw the small prey. It was scrawny but it was the only thing he could scent. He then sighed and stalked forward he pounced on the rabbit and caught it quickly.
