"Cyndaquil use an aerial ace" Tiger said swiftly. Cyndaquil nodded, and ran forward swiftly, he went to hit Starmie when Misty called out.

"Water gun!" The Starmie used water gun causing Cyndaquil to fly backwards.

"Flamethrower the wall" Tiger said quickly. His Pokemon used flamethrower on the wall, nearer the pool, and slowed his crashing. He jumped onto the pool's very edge, and panted slightly. He could fall in... Tiger thought sharply, and looked around.

Mira tightly shut her eyes, nervous, not wanting to see Cyndaquil fall in again.

Cyndaquul struggled to keep his balance on the edge of the pool, the wall he had used to push off him offering no way of escape. "Starmie use a water gun" Misty called as she knew she had her opponent trapped. Tiger closed his eyes, and th out for a moment.

"Cyndaqul dig!" Tiger yelled suddenly, the Pokemon looked up in confusion. Digging this close to the pool could push him in, but the Pokemon obeyed. He dug, and got splashed with some pool water before burrowing into the wall. The Pokemon then dodged the water gun.

"Starmie after it" Misty ordered, Starmie then flew into the hole. Tiger strained to hear his Pokemon digging. He then heard him slightly under his feet.

"Now" tiger said quickly. Cyndaquil then jumped out of a newly dug hole, near Tiger's feet, and used a flamethrower to propel himself out of the hole. Starmie flew out the opposite side, and crashed into the wall. The Pokemon instantly fainted, and Cyndaquil landed on Tiger's shoulder.

"Starmie is unable to battle! Cyndaquil is the winner. The badge goes to Tiger" the announcer called it cheerfully.

Mira opened her eyes. "Ugh. I missed it," She mumbled, slightly annoyed with herself, but applauded and whistled anyway.

Tiger took the badge, and smiled. "Thanks for the battle" he said kindly to Misty. Cyndaquil had jumped onto his shoulder, and yawned in exhaustion from the fight. He was muddy, and slightly wet. "Now I guess I should heal you up" he said jokingly to Cyndaquil, and pet his Pokemon.

"Cynda! (Yeah!)" Cyndaquil said cheerfully, and Headbutt Tiger. Tiger then wove a farewell, and went toward the stands where Mira was.

Mira stood up. "That was incredible!" She cheered. Growlithe howled encouragingly while Pikachu and Bulbasaur cheered. "Great battle."

"Thanks" Tiger said, and scratched the back of his neck in slight embarrassment. "Mostly quick thinking" he said cheerfully.

"Well, that's exactly what you need to do in a pokemon battle, huh?" She pointed out, slugging him lightly on the arm. "You and your pokemon were all great."

Tiger laughed, and jokingly rubbed the arm she hit. He then remembered about Dratini "we should get back to the center, and see how Dratini is" he sighed. "As well as heal Cyndaquil, and the others..."

"Right. Of course," She nodded solemnly, and started off towards the exit to the gym. "Saffron took a lot of damage; is he okay?"

Tiger blinked slightly confused, and looked at Saffron's pokeball. "I think he'll be fine. I returned him in time..." He sighed, and felt guilty about the events with Saffron's battle.

Tiger nodded in agreement, and continued onward. Cyndaquil was still sitting on Tiger's head as they walked. "Honestly I think Cyndaquil had more fun fighting underground than getting wet" he half joked.

"Cyndaquil cynda! (I'd rather be underground than underwater)" Cyndaquil retorted lowly, and bat Tiger on the head.

Tiger nodded, and looked at the Pokemon center. "Very true" he said in agreement, and went inside. "Though I think Cyndaquil had to much fun knocking Starmie out of the hole" he trailed off as he replayed the memory of the fight in his mind. Cyndaquil's flamethrower was stronger than usual...his ability couldn't have gone off...he wasn't at low health...maybe it's a side effect of him loosing his evolution abilities? he thought to himself, and glanced at Cyndaquil, who had jumped to the ground.

"Maybe a little," She nodded. "But anyone would. That pokemon fought dirty!" She entered the Pokemon Center and instantly went to the front desk.

Tiger nodded in agreement, and went to the front desk as well. He placed Cyndaquil, Saffron, and Jolt in the counter, and looked around. "Nurse Joy" he called out kindly.

The nurse walked out of the treatment rooms bit more calm, and smiling. "Welcome back. I'm going to guess you won?" She asked Tiger kindly. Tiger nodded, but didn't say anything about the battle as Joy took his Pokemon.

"How's Dratini" he asked hopefully.

Nurse Joy nodded "yes he's awake, and going to be fine. I did the tests on him, and he didn't loose his chances to evolve." She said cheerfully.

"Thank Arceus" Tiger sighed in relief.

"However..." Joy trailed off sharply. Which caught Tiger's attention. "His evolution patterns might be sparatic, and can't be targeted to a single level. It'd be a miracle if he makes it to a Dragonite at all..."
