this may be required and not a bug to make forums safe, but just in case:

making this to help someone space something without using ..................................

in excel use the CHAR code to get the "space" to show up, then copy/paste here where needed. you can NOT copy/paste mine above as it will only show <> without the spaces.

had to use ch*ar in example without the * PH crashes and blocks me.

granted reading the bottom "submitting a certain word or phrase" i can understand why some things are autoblocked, just did not realize char code would not be allowed?

I think (I can't be sure) But I think the reason for this was about a year or so ago there was a problem where certian people were using a different type of code

Possible the ch*ar code which make interacting impossible.

It made it so the nicknames of pokemon had all sort of enter spaces and such where the 'train -blah-' was like half way down the page and not where it is now / where it should have been because of all the spaces + there was no character limit back then I think? But again I can't be sure.

Instead of where it is now it would be half way down the page or in a different place so you would have to make sure you're looking at the screen and stuff to see where the interaction button was and it was annoying people as it would happen every 5 mon or so because of trolls trying to break the site.

But I'm not sure but I think that's why it's blocked.

people were using the < > codes to purposefully nickname their pokemon things that would mess up interacting

Names that scrolled broke things, and there were some people using it to move the train box down the page

it was blocked to stop abuse

Adding on, if you're curious to see; heres' a thread that went up as soon as people started using those codes, to give an idea as to why that specific code is blocked.
There's only two or so screenshots in there that show what the page looked like, but yea, it was quite the nuisance

thanks for the link, and WOW, that would of been so annoying.

on another note to this i still see some chars in names that show a picture of a RED flower or other colored design, imagine if someone can find the "red star" and nickname with that in it throwing all these in AH? (granted they would get banned for scamming, but could be real damaging until fixed)

Names can't be seen from the overview page, though, nor can the 'shiny' star. It's kinda the reason the 'Shiny' tab was added ;) You can also always see the shiny sprite anyways, so if the star and the sprite doesn't match, you know it's purely for decoration.

I'd also like to add that I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a red star in Alt-code, at least not one that's a carbon copy of the shiny star used to identify special pokémon.

Your concern is appreciated, but the measures in place already make sure you can't abuse alt-code like this :)
