A Dangerous Rebellion

Her own skin was fair, and across the bridge of her nose and cheeks were freckles. She had a long sleeved shirt and baggy trousers on that covered most of her skin, but what wasn't covered was fair and light toned. Once she was unshackled she got up to her feet and followed the dark skinned woman out.
"Get everyone off and into the small boat," Cassie told Max before she took up the very rear to make sure that every last slave got off the ship. Then she smashed a lantern below, and another on the deck, the flames spreading with the oil. She swiftly climbed off the deck and into the last boat, shifting as she went down the ladder so she didn't take up much space.
Andromeda watched, frowning when she looked up at Cassie. The woman looked hurt. She could help. But first, she had to make sure the woman she had helped was okay. "Do you mind if I go help her? I think she was injured."
Max had watched Cassie reboard their boat with a friend. There was an ominous looking wet stain on her shoulder. "Did he get you?" He asked, reaching to help her onto the boat. "What happened to your shoulder?"
Magda noted where the woman was looking, so when she asked a question it seemed like she was making sure it'd be okay if she went to help. Why did she bother asking her? She had no control over her. "ísť na to."
(Go for it)
Cassie grunted as she tried to get herself settled into a spot next to Max, but her hand slipped and she half fell into his lap. Her shoulder had bled rather badly and her hand was slicked with her own blood. "There's s-something in there..." She growled as she started trying to sit back up. Sweat made her hair cling to her face, and her skin was pale.
Andromeda gave her a smile before making her way over.
"He shot you, didn't he?" Max grumbled, holding Cassie to him gently. "Hold still. I'm going to use my shirt to stop the bleeding. It'll have to do for now. But I am getting you to a healer as soon as possible." Fear pooled low in his gut, making Max terrified. He kissed her forehead, then mlved to tug off his shirt.
"If I may," Andromeda interupted. "I'm not a healer but I know one who can give us a hand. I think she would rather enjoy being ride of me. Give her some rest and peace." Reaching for her own forearm, Andromeda brushed her hand over a tattoo of a tree. The ink was black, dead looking. "So long as I have permission to help here."
Magda looked over and watched what the strange woman was doing to help in this situation. It seemed like the wolf woman had been shot, and the bullet hadn't gone through.
Cassie's breathing was growing heavy as the pain truly began catching up to her. "Huh?" She could make out the woman and what she'd said, but why was she showing them her skin art? "Help?" Had she thought that word or did she actually say it? She was fighting the urges to curl in on herself, to vomit, and to succumb to the fog that was creeping into her mind and vision.
Max frowned, but nodded as he looked up at the woman.she must have been one of the volunteers who came to help. But he couldn't remember her name or power. "Yes, please," he said.
Andromeda covered the mark, whispering the woman's name. Next to her, a pale, nearly transparent woman appeared. She was skin and bones, her dress hanging off her ghostly features. She had died from a combination of starvation and sickness. She eyes the people in for,t of her before looking Andromeda. "Our deal, Marge. I seek your help. She needs a healer. And you need rest," Andromeda said, reaching to cup her cheek. "Your girls are safe." The woman, Marge, smiled before reaching out and begining her work. She reached forward, removing the bullet from Cassie's shoulder before knitting the skin back together. Inspecting her, she searched for any other wounds or infections. After curing any that could have been trapped under the skin, she met Cassie's eye. "Do you hurt anywhere else?" she asked.
Magda's eyes widened as she watched what looked like a ghost appear and then heal the wolf woman. What was going on here? She moved slowly along the boat to move a little closer to see what was taking place.
Cassie figured she was hallucinating when she saw the pale woman, but when her wounds were healed she understood. She still felt weak, but nothing hurt. "No," She swallowed, trying to get some saliva into her mouth. "Thank you..." The smile that had spread itself across her face was pure and almost innocent in appearance.
Max's eyes had grown huge as he watched. He was veyond greatful and hugged Cassie closer, burying his face against her neck a moment. "Thank you," he whispered to both woman.
Marge, the ghost, smiled. As she had healed Cassie, her form had filled out and her gown had transformed, looking expensive and grand. "My pleasure." Andromeda reached out, squeezing the woman's hand, despite it not being there. "You are free. Our deal is done. Go, hon. Go see your children and then rest. Your soul has endured much." Marge reached out, hugging the dark skinned woman before disappearing from sight. Andromeda reached down, smoothing her thumb over the spot where the tree had resided. "It's nice to see one go," she whispered offhandedly.
Magda had moved until she was somewhat behind the dark skinned woman. The ghost had changed and then vanished, but the wolf woman still looked pale. Perhaps the ghost couldn't return the blood that had been lost? "jej krv je stále preč... Teraz vám môžem pomôcť." She glanced from the dark skinned woman to the wolf woman, hoping that one of them would at least partially understand.
(Her blood is still gone... Now I can help you.)
Cassie's eyes were fixed on the woman who had summoned the ghost to help her. "Thank you too..." She was still working on comprehending that her skin art had disappeared and that that was her power, but how it worked was well beyond her thinking capabilities at the moment.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch what she said," Max said, confused as he kept hold of Cassie, cradling her in his arms gently.
"She said she could help with the missing blood. I am not sure how. I assume it has to do with her powers. I am excited to see what it is," Andromeda translated, keeping her voice pitches softly so she didn't cause too much noise or give the recently healed woman a headache.
Cassie took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh as she could practically feel herself getting stronger. "Whoa..." She stared at Magda, not a bad stare, but rather a stare of curiosity. "Thank you as well..." She started to sit up, but Magda put a hand on her shoulder to stop her and Magda looked up at Max. "ona musí odpočívať."
(She must rest)
"I agree with that. At least for the ride back to shore, Cassie. Let me hug you and enjoy you here," Max told her with a smile, kissing her cheek. "We got the bad guys. We saved the day. Now to return home. We'll meet up with the guys, get evryone settled then go back." Turning his gaze to the woman before him, Max bowed his head to them. "Thank you both so, so much. If there is any way I can return the favor, please let me know."
Cassie kissed Max back while he was still close enough. "I won't argue with that..." She turned her head to watch Magda move away to sit down but then she looked up at the woman who brought the ghost. "Yes, thank you... And if there is anything I can do, tell me." She reached her hand out towards Andromeda along the lines of shaking hands, but more of just to hold it to show her sincerity.
"I think you did more then you give yourself credit for. But I won't press the issue if you don't want it pressed. Do you know her? Is she family? You had gone to her in the boat," Max said, nodding over to the stranger with pale skin who had helped Cassie. Andromeda shook her head, something telling her to stay close to the woman.
Cassie nodded and she agreed about the not pressing with questions. "A question I'd like to ask, where do you call home and do you happen to know where she comes from? Though it looks pretty far off..."
Max nodded, taking in her features. "I could see that," he mused.
"We might want to ask if she has a home to go back to... And if she does, if she wants to go back." Cassie was remembering her own family and how her home was where they were, and since they were all killed, she didn't really have a home to go back to.
Cassie hummed softly as she tilted her head to kiss whatever she could reach of him. "And I hope that they are swift..."
"Knowing ours, his physical suffering was minimized. His soul, however, probably didn't get off that easily," Max said, enjoying the warmth that was holding Cassie.
