It would be cool if multiple items could be given to a pokemon. It would reduce the risk of someone else taking the offer in gem exchange and would also be convenient when sending sold items over to the buyer.

Well in gem exchange there are a few ways to prevent gems getting nabbed by other people. For example if you're paying for a few gems with PD, having the person paying set up the gem exchange for 1 gem helps. So it'd be Normal Gem 1x for Fire Gem 10x, most people don't accept those. But that's just offering a solution to the gem exchange.

As for Pokemon holding multiple items no support. Pokemon always have the ability to hold one item, it's just how it's been, and this suggestion to break that just for exchanging gems is unnecessary. It'd make more sense to have a trading item station than giving Pokemon the ability to hold more items just for the sole use of trading.
