"O-oh, alright then," Silver said, silently cursing herself for stuttering. That had never been something she was proud of. Her tail swished as she took another glance around the kitchen; it wasn't much bigger than the kitchen she had at home. The orphanages had never been funded well and she knew it was because of the lack of money that the Feline Kingdom had. Ever since the royal family had been overthrown, most of their funds were either wasted or spent on military forces.

''at one point... before i actually started working here, this place got robbed once..... a few valuables were stolen as well as one of the children being horribly injured since they tried to stand up to the robber.... no one strong enough was here to help them in they're time of need... so when miss petunia was hiring, i took the job immediately with no hesitation, i was glad to work somewhere for someone who needed the extra support....... i'd rather die protecting children then end up dying over some petty little argument over "they started it" fights and one person pulls a weapon and goes on a defiant rampage...'' Mango muttered, fiddling with something that was stuck on the counter.
he looked over at her and let his ear's droop a bit.
''i know the guard's are low on staff, i've seen signs around town for participants who are strong enough to join, so don't try asking me about trying out or anything...'' he muttered, as if plucking that little thought she had the night she visited his house right out of her head.

Ah. I remember him now, Silver thought, turning back up to him. "I wasn't planning to. It's rough work and it doesn't allow much free time. Even the training is rather time-consuming. Most of the recruits end up dropping out because it's either too physical or they have families that they'd hardly see. Frontline work is even worse--I took a few frontline jobs back in the day and decided that it wasn't for me."
She was rambling but she let herself do so. The sudden memory of last night had popped into her head far too soon, and just as she was getting to like the stranger--it had surprised her a bit and she honestly didn't want to think about it. It made her a bit uncomfortable and she truly wanted to believe that they had just gotten off on the wrong foot.
"Although, in defense, we're not that low on staff in general. Our new rulers have definitely shown that they like to have an abundance of military force and protection," Silver said, her tail flicking. Yeah, no. Bad move. Don't talk about politics. Politics is always a terrible conversation starter.
"Anyways, were you born in the city?"

(i completely forgot about this rp QAQ i'm so sorryyyyyyyy!!!!)

''like i said, my mother used to be a guard here in the city, so of course i was..... my father preferred to be a travelling salesmen and tried to see if he could sell in other kingdoms by trying to hide his ear's and tail with a hooded cape.... it ultimately failed and it ended up with him being hung somewhere near the canine kingdom a couple week's after i had been born... my mother warned me to never follow in either of they're footsteps when i got older and trained me in self defense once i was around the age of.. 10 i think...? might have been when i was 12..... but she taught me self defense and cared for me, even with her busy work shifts...... later on she died when she went out to help with some men and woman on the battle field.. she died a month after i turned 17'' he said, looking down as he crossed his arm's.
Mango sighed shakily and closed his eye's, curling his tail around himself as he kept back his tear's.
''soon it'll be about 2 year's now that she's been gone, here in about a few day's.....'' he muttered a bit shakily, looking out the window in the kitchen that was near the end of the kitchen.

Silver was a bit taken aback by this. She hadn't expected Mango to go on the brink of tears because of this and, honestly, was a bit sorry that she had asked. She always hated when people cried around her because she never knew what to do--comfort them?--but at least it meant that Mango was honest with her. She respected him for that; people were so rarely this honest in the feline kingdom that it was shocking to her.
"I'm sorry for your loss," she said softly, her tail swaying slowly.

Rowan stuffed his hands in his pockets, walking up next to Jinx. He made sure that he scuffed his shoes against the ground, made an effort to make louder footsteps so that she wouldn't be frightened. She turned from her conversation--she was standing by a canine and a younger one--and smiled back at him, mildly surprised.
"You're out from work early," she remarked. He shrugged and turned his attention to Willow and Yuzuki, offering them a smile (although his were suave half-smirks) and offered a hand.
"I'm Rowan. Who might you two be?"

he looked over at her and smiled softly, rubbing the back of his neck.
''thanks..... my mother was a very kind woman with an iron fist.. heh, taught me how to be a gentlemen as well as when i needed a good scolding if i caused trouble'' Mango said, laughing a little bit.
he remained quiet for a moment before he brought his hand's up and pointed to his wrist, then nodded toward's her.
''by the way... is your wrist alright? i was terribly rude when we first met the other day, and i'm really sorry about that'' he said, rather embarrassed.

Willow looked up at Rowan and blinked, twitching one of her ear's slightly.
Yuzuki smiled brightly and waved.
''hi! i'm Yuzuki, and this is Momo!'' he said cheerfully, holding up his stuffed red panda.
Willow looked down and smiled, ruffling his hair a bit.
''and i'm Willow, Yuzuki's caretaker, or older sister if you want to put it that way... i pretty much adopted this little stinker as a little brother'' she said, grinning as she hugged him.
Yuzuki pinned his ear's back and pouted as he looked at Willow, grabbing his tail before he lightly hit her with it.
''i don't stink'' he said.

"Oh, no. You didn't use enough force to hurt anything," Silver reassured, leaning against the conversation. In that moment, she thought of her brutal co-workers--she would be a disappointment in the Force if they knew. To even let yourself be touched by a civilian was... laughable. To not fight back was even worse. But Silver absolutely hated using physical force to get her way, especially when it wasn't necessary. She scratched the back of her head and her milky brown eyes flitted to the ground guiltily. "I am sorry for my attitude, though."

"It's nice to meet you all," Rowan said chilly, stepping back a bit and putting his hand in his pocket. Jinx was quickly re-plaiting her hair, her eyes seeming to sparkle.
"Oh, Rowan's my brother, by the way. The resemblance is hard to notice... or at least I'm told," she added for good measure, knowing that the only thing they had in common was their fair skin and dark hair. "Where do you two live around?" Jinx then asked, silently hoping that they lived in one of the nicer parts of the underground city. They seemed like nice people and she would hate to see such young people living near one of the sketchier parts.

''yeah, and we have the nicest neighbors as well who help keep an eye on this little rascal sometimes when i go shopping, that way he can hang out with his friends'' she said.

"I always do get the upper hand from being underestimated. I'm sure you wouldn't want to make the same mistake." She met his gaze, her mouth upturned slightly to reveal her sharpened teeth in a devious half-grin. Her irises slit in that hostile way of hers, and she did this for a moment of silence before breaking into a genuine grin and swishing her tail. "I'm kidding. I try not to fight people. It's usually just generic stuff, anyways, during the nighttime shifts." She pulled her ponytail over her shoulder, wringing it with her hands as if that would reduce the bushiness of her hair.

"Oh, that's good. Have you got a job, then? I've heard that the shelter businesses are going through some hard times," Jinx said, her brother drifting off into his unattentive silence. He seemed a little bit more interested in the backgrounds than the conversation, although he was still somewhat facing their way.

Silver's eyes widened slightly at the offer. She still held her hair in her hands, but she had stopped fussing with it. "I mean, you can try. I think it's just naturally like this, though." She combed it, feeling the softness of it with her fingers. Her tail wavered around slowly.

Jinx's face lit up and Rowan turned his attention back to her. There was a small hint of confusion in his vibrant eyes, knowing that she was about to say something that would be of importance.
"Have you heard of the Bluebird's Nest? It's an apothecary right over there--I own it. It's gained a bit of popularity recently and, well... I wouldn't mind a bit of help if you're looking for a job... or a part time one. We can talk about a paycheck that fulfills your needs and Yuzuki would be allowed to stay along if you need him to." She smiled and rocked back and forth on her toes. Rowan perked up a bit, surprised that she had gotten so straight to the point.
There was a sense of challenge in his demeanor, mostly towards Jinx; they both knew that having Willow around would mean that they'd have to hide their associations with his gang. Jinx refused to look at him, pretending that she didn't see the mild anger of her brother.

he remained quiet for a moment as he did so but soon let her hair go and crossed his arm's.
''hmm.... how about this, you come over to my house when your not busy with work, and i can style up your hair while leaving the length alone, does that sound alright?'' Mango asked.

Silver chortled, as if she were expecting a joke, but stopped upon his invitation. She hesitated for a moment, her tail still waving back and forth. Sure, she thought, why not? He seems nice. Silver pushed her hair back over her shoulder, nodded slightly and offered a slight smile. "Yeah, alright. That's nice of you. Thank you."

Jinx smiled and nodded, "That sounds good!" She looked at her wristwatch and back at Rowan, still smiling at him obliviously. "We'd best get going... I still have a few patients to tend to. See you two around~" She turned to leave and Rowan followed, bearing a slumped posture with his hands still in his pockets. Once he was sure that they were out of earshot, he turned to Jinx and narrowed his eyes.
"Why the hell did you do that? Are you forgetting all of the Eye members that we do business with?"
Her eyes were still sparkling as if they were smiling at him. "I need help. The citizens need help. She doesn't have to know about the Eye members--she seems like a good person. If not for us, Rowan, it's for the health of the people around us. It's my business as a medic and it doesn't have to be yours."
He huffed, "You're being reckless, Jinx." She only turned her attention back to the road in front of her, saying nothing more.

he smiled and purred contently, swaying his tail a bit.
''not a problem, beside's i plan to give ya the full treatment, a full wash and then style, just no trimming any hair cause i'm pretty sure you'd lock me up if i did so'' Mango said, though in a joking manner on the last part.

Willow soon got up and sat Yuzuki down, holding his hand as she collected up her stuff and headed on home with Yuzuki, humming happily to herself as the both of them walked.
''how about we go get a treat Zuki? to celebrate!'' Willow said cheerfully.
Yuzuki looked up and smiled brightly, nodding happily while grinning widely.

Her cheeks flushed a bit in embarrassment, "I don't care about it that much. You seem to be a... nice civilian, anyway." Silver said this in what was a somewhat teasing tone, although she spoke the truth. She wasn't quite sure if Mango could tell, though.

"You seem to be a nice Mango?" Silver offered, smiling a bit awkwardly. She coiled her tail around her leg so that she would stop swishing it around. She let out somewhat of a breathy laugh. "I wasn't sure what to use there. 'Civilian' is normal to me, anyway," she said a bit too quickly out of her own mild embarrassment.

Jack narrowed his eyes a bit as he held out a map that he had snagged from a merchant's table. He then realized that he had been holding it upside-down and flipped it, holding it up to the light this time. "Okay. So. We lack the manpower, stealth, charisma, and overall skill to get past the guards or even get near them. And we're... right around the middle of the city, I think.
"Which would mean we'd have to take one of the transports aaaaallll the way to around the edges. I've heard of an abandoned sewer tunnel that other refugees have used to get out. The Undergrounds, I think? Have you heard of it? Either way, I think there's a chance that it's a myth... and we don't want to find out what lives in uncharted sewers."
He sighed and his ears flattened with the motion. A bit grumpily Jack looked up to the skies at the winding cables. Very occasionally a sky train would zip by, and the cables would sink underneath their weight.

Mango started to laugh a bit and covered his mouth.
