The lingering light was obliterated by the rapidly falling night. The once salmon and purple sky transformed into a vast expanse of jet-black that engulfed the town. A canopy of luminous stars materialized amongst the ocean of blackness. Some were dull, merely flickering into existence every now and then, but there was an adequate amount of shimmering stars to illuminate the dark, moonless night. The lake glistened, mirroring the dazzling assemblage of glittering stars.The faint wind brushed against the water’s surface, the ripples ruffled the stillness of the surface.

Nightheart looked up to the stars from the mouth of his den that overlooked his territory. The crisp scent of the green season was upon them which filled him with hope. This year he thought of choosing a mate but decided aginst it for he was loyal only to his pack.

Constantia paced back and forth and murmured, "Ohhh, this is bad, this is very, very bad!" She was worrying about the prey supply, which was just enough to feed the whole pack. The Saluki-Wolf stared out into the wilderness outside the pack and pondered. Are betas allowed to go out and hunt? Is the food supply ok? Am I overreacting?, the words repeated in her head until she could find an answer.

Constantia turned her head to Nightheart and decided it would be a good idea to ask him the questions she had. The newbie beta approached the alpha cautiously and then started to stutter, "U-um, hello, Nightheart, c-can I ask a que-estion?" She never imagined it would be so stressful to ask the alpha some simple things. Am I being rude? Will he snap at me? Will I sound dumb?, even more questions tossed around in her head.

Luna let out a small yawn as she twitched in her sleep. Her brother Storm watched quietly from his den before the male walked out. He rolled onto his back to look at the stars as he did most nights after him and Luna lost their parents. He was grateful they were taken into the pack as pups, but knew that Luna was still not too happy about losing their parents. He would see his sister padding out along and usually only hunting small animals rather than trying to hunt with others.

Nightheart looked to her Betas worries looks. "What is it Constantia? You seemed more worried than usual." He huffed at the scent of fear comes from her.

Red had a den closest to the Alpha and flicked an ear towards the conversation. His red fur glistened in the small light that came from the stars. Sleep has never been easy for him.

Savannah walked around making sure that there were no enemy wolves or wild animals nearby that may attack

Constantia gathered a bit more courage and cleared her throat. "Well, um I have a few questions to ask. Is that alright?" She tried to pay attention to the leader and to show respect towards him. The Saluki-Wolf pawed at the ground nervously.

He nodded his approval to Constantia and rose from his spot in his den and padded down next to her." Come lets enjoy the night breeze as you tell me your worries." Nightheart slowly trotted towards the eastern part of the territory on a small game path that recently smelled fresh of rabbit.

"Well, er, since I'm a new beta I don't know this yet, but are betas allowed to go and hunt? And Is the food supply ok?", she asked. "I-I'm just somewhat worried about the prey supply, that's all...", she tried to give a reason for her silly questions.

When Storm saw NightHeart and Constantia leave the camp he sat up and looked around to take guard. Storm looked around and padded about the camp before sitting back in the middle once more.

Panthe was curled up in her den, her tail over her muzzle. She was sleeping lightly, before she shot up, breathing heavily. "Just a nightmare... Only a nightmare..." She whispered to herself, trying to calm down slowly.

Storm looked at Savannah. "If you are looking for our alpha he and our beta went out on a walk. I am sure he will be back soon" he said.

Nightheart knowing his pack was safe to leave he calmly walked into the black forest with his Beta. His tail relaxed as they walked. " This past winter did take its toll on our pack taking many pups and worriors with the sneezing cough. Our food rations are now gone and we need to make a hunting party first light." He stopped raising his tail to signal silence.


At the clearing red decided to get up on his paws and walked up to the lake front lapping up the crisp clean water. He looked up to the star milky sky admiring the beauty.

Panthe laid back down, blinking a bit before closing her eyes once more. She shifted so her tail was keeping her a bit warmer, and she felt her ears twitch a bit.

Dravin woke up from his night mare screaming "run they are hear!" and then started looking for the alpha and beta and started to worry even more due to the nightmare and went and found Storm and Savannah panickly saying "i cant find them what happend

Storm nodded. "I am sure he will be pleased to hear that" he replied. He looked over hearing Luna get up. He sighed as his sister simply padded out of the camp to go hunting. He looked at Darvin. "NightHeart is out walking with Constantia."
