Okay so at first I thought I might've miscounted things when I adopted 1 thing from the Fish Box, and then later adopted 10 things. So I did another test just earlier:


Opening the fish box, it says I can adopt 10 Fish-Pokémon.


After adopting a Corphish (doesn't matter which Poke tbh).
It says I can adopt 9 Fish-Pokémon.


Left to buy some food to replenish energy.
It says I can adopt 10 Fish-Pokémon.


I did ask a friend to check out if they encountered this bug too, just in case I was over-thinking it. It appears to be patched for mobile-users though.

I'm a pc-user and I've never encountered this bug ^^' There's no difference in the code for PC or mobile, it's just been coded, keeping mobile compatibility in mind, but it's only one version.

Are you sure you're choosing an amount to adopt? Simply clicking "adopt" doesn't actually do anything, you need to put a number in that little white box.

(And while the pokémon might not matter, we'd still be able to "see" the bug, if you took a screenshot of all your pokémon before and after adopting as it gives us the possibility to compare and contrast)

Huh, that is odd then.

And no, I had adopted a Corphish, singular, one. And then I gave it an everstone in my storage box. But then I come back to the fish-box and see that it's allowing me to adopt 10 Fish Pokémon again, even though the limit is 10 per day?

Edit 1: So I wouldn't be double-posting.


About to adopt 1 Squirtle, limit is still 10 because I have not yet adopted the Squirtle--which is odd since I already adopted a Corphish in the last 2 hours.


Adopted the Squirtle, the counter goes to 9 available for adoption.


The Squirtle has been adopted successfully.


The adoption limit counter returns to 10 for some reason I can't think of.

That is odd, because it seems the "code" is processed differently.
What browser are you using?

Google Chrome. I haven't encountered this bug in the Safari Zone, which also has an adoption limit similar to the Beach.

I'm using Chrome too, and it's never displayed 10 after I adopted a pokémon.
(Latest version?)
Have you tried actually adopting more than 10 pokémon? Maybe it's simply a display error?

I don't think it's the latest version, no prompt for it.

Yes, the first time I encountered it, I adopted one Poke (I cannot for the life of me remember what now), then later decided "why not" and adopted as much as I was allowed to--which did equate to 10. So total for that day was adopting 11.

Ok, I realise this might sound silly, but the first time it happened (and the total 10 later); you're sure there wasn't a reset in between?

(I keep editing this @.@ To know your Chrome version; go to "Settings" => "About" It'll update if there is one)

Yes I'm sure. I adopted this Corphish after reset for my first example in the screen caps--which should have changed the number of adoptions from 10 to 9, but it looked to be 10 again when I did the Squirtle screen-caps.

(I...am now apparently up to date. Do you think that would change anything?)

I'm wasn't talking about your individual adopts today, but about the 'more than 10 adopts made' the first time/day you encountered it ^^'

It might; sometimes the "way" a code is executed changes (slightly) with an update, so it might've been the reason for the bug.
This is all conjuncture, though ^^'

1) Adopted ten Tentacools (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10)

2) Got the following message:

So...I've broken the adoption limit and have 20 new Tentacools. Uhm. ._.;;

well, it's been confirmed, so there's no need anymore, and more would enter "cheating" territory

Ah, yes, OS means operation system, sorry about that.
I'm just trying to remember what else could be different and cause this, because I'm pretty sure that, if it was the PH-code, there would be more users who experience it (at least, I think so) ^^'

Well it is an advantageous bug for users. It could be that other users are experiencing it, but aren't saying anything about it. But that's a rather depressing thought, if that's the case.

How would PH be able to catch people cheating using this bug? Is there some kind of tracker that takes note of every poke-adoption code generated? But even then, that code wouldn't necessarily say where the egg/poke was adopted from, would it? (I'm going by the url adoption number, and hypothesizing out-loud. I don't know a thing about coding aha)

I don't know the slightest about coding either, but there is the "Obtained" [time] and [location] stamp on the Pokémon Page (in plain view), so there is a way to figure it out ;)

...And two things I figured out.
1. Updating my Chrome to the final version actually made the bug appear
2. The bug also happens in FireFox, which might make it more likely it's the site, unless both Chrome and FireFox have a similar way of executing the code.

not that we figured out what's going wrong, but at least we know more about the "where"

Huh, and it's not like users could down-grade to a previous version right? Hrm... Are these two browsers the most widely used by PH users?

You can only downgrade through downloading an older version from unofficial sources, but why should they? Upgrades probably fix quite a lot, one thing that breaks means nothing against that xD
And I'd assume so, anyway. They're the two most well-known (aside from Explorer, that pretty much nobody uses)
