Marshall hastily removed the bow, taking a deep breath, the elf he cynosure of his gaze. He moved his hand around the elf's head in a circle, a rope of darkness forming around the him for tightening, binding the elf in the process. The heat rested upon them, cradling their skin with the hazy embrace of summer. "I'll just go ahead and bring him to the cave," Fallow murmured, touching the elf's shoulder and disappearing from their sight.

Abeline barely held back a groan as Follow disappeared. Stuck with Marshall, again! What luck. "Uh, do you know how to teleport?" Abeline crossed her fingers that she hadn't inadvertently offended him or asked a stupid question.

(The hate is real X3)
"No," he replied simply, with no clear emotion in sight. Why is it that Fallow gets along with everyone so easily? The demon thought, looking over his shoulder as if Fallow would be there. It was strange being in the open with someone that wasn't her, especially since it was Abeline. He didn't really hate her, though. It was just so... awkward. I'm pretty sure Abeline knows that too... maybe it'll be best to separate for now?... What if the soldiers attack? I don't think either of us could handle all of the demons alone. Marshall snapped himself out of his negative thoughts, instead trying to focus on the moment. The sun hung up in the air, shining brightly towards them. With annoyance, he looked at the ground.

Abeline gave a shrug. "All right." She said simply, choosing not to say anything else. The night was already awkward enough, and she didn't want to make it even more so. Her feet scuffled the ground, kicking up dust. She really, really wished that Fallow was here right now.

(Observe as I proceed to make Marshall make it worse)
Marshall's gaze flickered over to her, his head a bit lowered. "I, um... me and Fallow don't really talk to that many people... S-sorry," he mumbled, trailing off a bit. There was a sudden crack of lightning, making Marshall cringe. The tree somewhat next to them blew up in half, singed to an ebony black. Two soldiers, one with a spear engulfed in light blue lightning, stood ahead of them. Marshall cast up a wall of darkness, shielding them from the next tongue of lightning that shot towards them. Ah. This isn't good.

(*writes notes*)
Abeline covered her head with her forearms (Arm shins?) as lightning cracked against the shield. "What the --" she screamed. "How did they find us? I thought they were gone!" Abeline then shook her head at her own stupidity. Of course they found them. They had probably come to investigate the elf, but were lucky enough to find two of the people they had been chasing.

Arm shins X3
"That's what I thought," Marshall muttered grimly, a wall of fire slamming into them, deliberately knocking Marshall back into Abeline. The dark, malevolent glare of the soldier towered over them. He muttered a quick apology to Abeline and pushing himself off her, stumbling forwards. The soldier lashed out their claws, nailing Marshall on the cheek. He ducked, crossing his forearms over his head. The second blow was blocked by yet another dark shield. Where'd the other one go? He thought, looking around. Marshall jumped back and ducked to avoid a shot of fire.
-----
Fallow sat, leaning against the cave wall with her legs cradled to her chest. She lightly rested her chin on her knees, trying to avoid gazes with the elf. After all, it would be creepy if he woke up with her intently staring at him. I think it might've been Marshall's darkness aura that knocked him out... that's not permanent, right? The devil thought, her gaze straying to the ceiling. Fallow heard a sudden groan and she looked over at the elf, whose eyes dilated in pure surprise. "Oh. How are you feeling?" She asked casually, as if they hadn't (practically) taken him as hostage. Silence. "You can speak, right?"

that was literally the first thing that popped into my head. What is wrong with me?
Abeline swerved as lightning cracked towards her. The soldier that wielded fire was after Marshall, but the one that used lightning was trying to kill Abeline. She made a high-pitched, primordial scream, temporarily fazing the demon, as she launched herself at his face. He reeled back, surprised, and then in pain as the weight of a deer knocked him to the ground. All his air left him in a woosh as he hit the ground. Abeline lifted a hoof and smashed it against his face, hopefully knocking him out. But who knew? They were demons, after all.

XDD I ask that question on an hourly basis

Marshall stopped for a moment, frozen as he looked back in Abeline's general direction. He wasn't sure if it was sheer surprise that caught him, or the extremely loud noise. He felt a sudden, harsh blow to the spine that sent him to the ground, out of breath. Marshall attempted to get up but the soldier's foot held him from getting up. "Do you realize how much trouble you and your sister have caused the king, boy?" The soldier hissed, fire singing his soldier. Crap. He hastily but a bubble of darkness over Abeline, proceeding to cause an explosion of darkness. The soldier was knocked off of him, the bubble popping after the explosion. They launched into the air, wings unfurling. The soldier then proceeded to dive at the ground, causing the dirt to fly upwards, a crater created in the ground. Marshall groaned, slamming harshly against a tree.

Oh my gosh, me too! We're so alike X3
Abeline gasped, knowing full well that the soldier beneath her was out for the count. She ran over to Marshall, touching his shoulder lightly with her snout, afraid to cause him pain. She morphed into her human form, not caring that she wasn't clothed from the waist up. "A-are you alright, Marshall?" Suddenly flush with embarrassment, Abeline grabbed a mostly intact shirt from the ground. Somehow, her pants had survived the transformation. Now clothed, she held out her hand. "I know it hurts, but we have to move. There might be more coming."

Great minds think alikee
"I'm fine," he replied, stumbling up with a slight color embracing his cheeks. A blast of fire lunged towards them and Marshall half-yelped, "Look out!"
He somewhat pushed Abeline back, blocking the fireball with his body. Smoke wafted off his skin, but he showed no signs of being charred or blackened at all. If I use any more blasts I think I might faint... He thought grimly, looking over at Abeline. "Which way?"

Abeline's heart was Jack-rabbiting from the burst of flame. Shakily, she pointed to the left. "Left is shaded by trees, and we could probably wait them out there." She stumbled towards the break in the trees. "Thanks, by the way."

(Rushed post is rushed)
Marshall ducked to avoid a strike of lightning, his balance failing him for a moment. He ran after Abeline, looking at his shoulder. There was a large hole from the fire, but his skin was untouched. His semi-fire resistance had always been random on clothes, even though Fallow had full-on fire resistance. She could probably swim through lava and feel no temperature change. "No problem," he replied, catching his breath for a minute.

Abeline paused, though her lungs weren't having much trouble. She was used to sprinting long distances, sometimes even miles, so this didn't really bother her. Though his wounds did look pretty nasty. Abeline patted his shoulder, making sure to avoid any injuries. A gaping hole in the ground looked slightly suspicious, but she smelled no animals that had bedded there recently. She pulled him to the hole. "Come on, you need to sit."

rushed post is even rushed...er
Is it bad that Abeline is more scared of being in a cramped hole with Marshall than facing the demon soldiers?

Pfff he feels the same dun worryy
Marshall perked up a bit in surprise about being suddenly dragged into a hole, but felt instant regret. He sat down, leaning against the wall whilst looking at Abeline. "We'd need to keep on the move. There's no doubt the called for reinforcements... do you think we'll be able to go back to Fallow?" He thought, suddenly washed over with worry about his twin.

Abeline felt a sudden realization, and groaned, plopping her head into her hands. "I think... I think my bow's still at my tree." She barely heard Marshall's question. "Oh my God, that..." She paused, giving a dirty curse before falling silent as footsteps thundered around them.

Marshall resisted the urge to faceplant and groan at the sheer luck of Abeline leaving her bow behind. We'll have to go back to that same area and find her bow... without being seen. Dear god, I really wish Fallow was here, he thought, bringing his knees to his chest in hope that the soldiers' footsteps would go away. It made him feel like when he was younger and more innocent, curling up in a corner as if that would help shield him from the dangers. It brought him comfort, somehow.

Abeline's breath came back in sharp gasps as the soldiers called out and started chasing a different path. She relaxed and nudged Marshall. "We should wait a little longer, just in case they come back. Do you think Fallow will be able to find us?"

"To be honest I'm not sure if she'll leave the cave, with the elf and all... at least not for a bit longer," Marshall mumbled, releasing a breath as if he had been holding it in the whole time. She trusts us to survive, anyways, he thought, knowing about her optimism.
------
Fallow glanced at the elf, who had sat himself up against the cave wall. "... So that's what all the explosions were," Fallow explained to the stranger, even though she was unsure about how hostile he was. He seems okay... but he also could be deceiving me, she thought, the distrust showing in her eyes. God, I hope Marshall and Abeline made it okay... but the elf might only cause more problems if I bring him with me. Fallow was feeling even more tense. "What's your name?" She asked the elf, trying to distract her mind. He seemed worried, too, but probably for different reasons. "... Trauma. You?" He said, not meeting her gaze. "Fallow."

Abeline gave a wry chuckle. "I bet she wasn't expecting us to hide in this tiny hole." She gave a thoughtful pause. "Or any hole, for that matter." She flicked her hair over her shoulder, giving off a wave of dust. "At least she's safe...ish."
