An Adoption "Clinic"?
Forum-Index → Suggestions → An Adoption "Clinic"?I can see why you'd think it could help out newer players, but I was able to easily give away a pokemon to a new user by putting it up in the GTS... it takes about the same time as releasing a pokemon. I just don't see any real benefits other than making the game easier for newbies.
(I don't see the game as hard currently)
@Lugia, well, hey, like I said previously, it's there if they want to use it; they are not strictly required to, so if you didn't want to take away the challenge, you don't need to take Pokemon from the clinic. Other than that, I get what you mean ^^
1) Turns an otherwise common dilemma into a fun and useful feature.
2) Creates a more community feel. Your unwanted pokemon helps another with their dex. Adds a new way for users to do giveways.
3) Effective/Efficient way to get rid of excess Pokemon aside releasing them, compared to other counter-parts that are not. (e.g. AH/GTS). Even though you can "giveaway" in GTS - it's not fluid and you'd still have to wait. AH is not fully free for other users and still takes at minimum an hour.
4) Added potential content. 5th Set Badge?
I saw arguments for "But it would make dex completion easier".
Although in technicality it would be easier, here's my take on it;
1) Majority of pokemon that would be dumped in the clinic would most likely be; the same common or hunted pokemon.
2) Community/Usefulness Pros heavily outweigh the few negligible Cons if more than the 1 aforementioned Con.
3) The one absolute truth in any Pokemon Game is that: You cannot complete your dex alone (with only 1 game/without cheating). PH is no exception. Relying on others is inevitable unless you were here when the site was first made and played everyday since.
4) The same people who would rely on this feature would still be walled by limited/annual release and legendary Pokemon that wouldn't ever be here. The difficulty and timing of the completion your dex will always be scaled to the community and your effort/resources, not the system/features placed.
While I personally don't believe in giving things for free without something in return, players who actively support other players will have my support. I don't entirely see the big deal even having completed it myself in a month. It's almost as if "Oh no! Players are able to complete their Dex faster because they're getting them from other people in a more efficient/effective/fun way!" is a bad thing. Does anyone really care if some random player got a free Starter, Weedle, Skitty, Riolu, Combee, and [insert generic commonly hunt pokemon here]?
