"Fine.... Ooh, can we go to Hot Topic?! Then laser tag and that one
restaurant in a cave! And then maybe even to that one cool duck
tape dance! Oh crud, I'm rambling, sorry..." Ellis had started to
think of all the stores she had seen and had begun to list them.
She realized that she was ranting, she stopped and apologized. She
was glad she stopped herself before she rambled his ears off.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
I literally said that so I didn't have to go on stage, but
what the heck, it'd give me some time to get to know Ellis a bit
more. "How about we go to three places of your choosing. I'll pay,
of course." I said. "It'll give you something to look forward to
this weekend at least. I laughed."
Ellis gave him a small smile, shaking her head softly. "No, you
don't need to pay! We can split the cost." She said, never liking
it when people paid for her. It made her feel a little....
desperate and poor. Her smile never left her lips when she spoke,
feeling like she had made a new achievement.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"Alright, alright. Whatever floats your boat." I gave her a
playful grin, my stomach then rumbled and my face flushed with
embarrassment. "I'm going to go make myself something to eat." I
spoke as I stood up and walked towards the kitchen. What do I
want? Soup? I guess that's fine. I thought as I was pulling out
the ingredients needed.
"Whatcha making?" Ellis called from where she laid on her bed. She
had begun to read again, but she felt weird when she read about the
crimes, cringing a little as she rembered Alain's story within
every crime placed upon the thin pages. She read them, but looked
over the book at him since she could see him even since she was
able to see him from the place she laid.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"Soup. Do you want some, Ellis?" I called back heating up
the pot and putting in the vegetables, meat, milk, and added a few
spices. I took a sip and nodded in satisfaction, I let it simmer
and sat back down on my bed. "Now we just wait an hour or two." I
spoke.
"Sure! What kind?" Ellis hollered to him, but set down the book.
She stares at the ceiling above her, her hat flipped off her head.
Since her hat wasn't there to hold down her brown hair, her cowlick
stood straight up on her head, but she didn't notice her hat on the
floor, and just stared at the baby blue painted ceiling. She had
her thin legs curled up, and her head rested on her arms crossed
beneath her skull.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"It's something I'm whipping up from scratch." I said, then noticed
her cowlick standing straight and I couldn't help but laugh. It was
pretty funny, after all. "Your hat." I said after I stopped
laughing.
"Huh? My hat? Oh my HAT!" Ellis yelped, falling off the bed to try
to snatch up the hat. She stood up looking around for the little
neko hat. She didn't know, but it was behind Alain's foot, hidden
from her sight. She looked at him with a flushed face, flustered.
Her cowlick stood tall like it was mocking her, and she tried to
flatten her hair down.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
I looked down and noticed her hat next to my foot, I picked
it up "I found it." I announced and put it back on her head, "I'm
going to go check on the soup." I walked back towards the kitchen.
It looked alright, but he wanted to be sure it was edible, so he
used the same spoon and took a sip. It was ready, so I turned the
stove off "Ellis the soup is ready." I called and got bowls out
from the cabinets.
Ellis pulled the hat up a bit since Alain put it too far down, to
were it covered her eyes. She watched him walk into the kitchen,
and she heard him call to her. She jumped at his loud voice since
it spooked her, but she yelled back. "I'm coming!" She hollered,
walking to the kitchen as she shifted her hat on her head. She
entered, and the smell of soup filled her nose, making her sigh in
pleasure.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
I had prepared two bowls of soup, one for Ellis and one for
me. I gave Ellis one of the bowls in my hands "Here you go." I
said, walking over to the lounge chair in the corner of the room, I
sat and began to eat my soup. It was warm, not as hot since I let
it cool down a bit.
Ellis took the bowl, saying a quick "Thank you". She went into he
room, sitting on a stool criss-crossed as she ate her soup. She
made a small 'mmmm' noise after the first bite, and looked at
Alain. "This is great! Where did you learn to cook like this?" She
asked, eyes lit up with awe and excitement as she stared at the boy
across from her.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"Thanks, and my mom taught me how to cook." I replied and
took another mouthful of soup. I was amused that she was easily
impressed by something like this, though I wasn't aware of the grin
plastered upon my face.
Ellis noticed the grin on his face, and tilted her head. "For the
third time today, what's that look for?" She asked. She took a
mouthful of soup, but continued to give Alain a puzzled, innocent
look.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"It's just funny how you're easily impressed." I replied,
still grinning. I was almost done with my bowl of soup, only having
about four bites left. I took another bite while waiting for her
response.
"I just have a small amount of abilities, so I'm easily interested.
I get told I'm a kitten for things like how easily interested I am,
and how cute I look..." Ellis said, then she sneezed. Like a
kitten. Tiny and high-pitched, it seemed more fitted to a feline.
She used her too-long hoodie sleeves to cover her nose and mouth,
and then sniffed. "Oh, and that." She mumbled, smiling a little.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"Kitten sneezes." I grinned, and looked down at my bowl of
soup, it appears I finished it. "I'll be right back." I said as I
stood up and walked back into the kitchen and put my bowl and spoon
in the dishwasher, ready to be cleaned later on. Then sat back in
the chair. "I'm back."
