Ellis looked back at the boy, and gave him her own puzzled look.
Trying to get the red off her face, she asked again. "Seriously,
what was with that look. You had a dorky grin on your face!" She
asked, blush dying down. Realizing she might of offended him since
'dorky' and 'nerdy' were compliments in her mind, she winced at
herself.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
I laughed "You're pretty funny." I stood up and sat on her
bed "Hey, what book are you reading?" I asked, referring to the one
by her side. I wanted to know, since I happened to enjoy reading
quite a bit. And I've never read the book before, so it was a new
experience for me.
"Oh, this? It's called 'The Cases That Haunt Us'. It's about some
of the world's darkest criminals and their stories. It's really
good, I can let you borrow it when I'm done if you'd like." Ellis
said, picking the thick book up and showing the cover to him. She
smiled down at the cover, but felt slightly sick because she liked
reading this.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
My smile wavered a bit "O-oh?" I asked "Yeah.. that'd be
nice, thank you." I stared at the cover for quite a long time
before putting the book back in her hands. I suddenly became aware
of my giant scar on my back and got a little defensive.
Ellis saw the other's smile waver and his voice crack a bit, and
she felt herself stiffen and her smile disappear. "Are you okay
Alain?" She asked, paling a little. ' Did I do something wrong?
Oh no, oh no!!!' She thought, a shiver running through her body
as she thought of the days when all her friends up and left,
leaving only a blade for comfort.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"I'm fine.. don't worry.. you didn't do anything wrong." I
smiled trying to comfort her, which was partly true. I didn't want
to tell her just yet, I barley know her. I didn't know how she'd
react. She seemed pretty shaken up by my response so I decided to
loosen up a bit, I pat her head gently for reassurance.
Ellis made a tiny "Chu" noise when he patted her, and looked up at
him again. "You sure?" She asked, looking up at him with pity
scattered in her hazel orbs. She tried to smile, but her lips
didn't seem to want to cope with her brain trying to make her
smile. She felt the weird urge to cry or laugh almost overwhelm
her, but she pushed them back forcefully with her mind.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
She looked pretty sad so I wrapped her in a hug, it hurt to
see someone in a depressing mood "Yeah, I'm sure. Just don't be
sad, if you need to let it out just know you have a shoulder to cry
on." I said.
"I-I don't need t-to cry! What ar-are you tal-talking about?" Ellis
stammered a little, continuing to try to hold in the tears, but a
few slid out. Luckily since he was hugging her and she was so
small, her face was hidden against his chest. She soon wrapped her
arms around him, though they were resting against his lower back as
she held onto him tightly.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
I grinned "Oh don't act like you don't know, I saw the look
on your face. I'm not good with facial expressions but I do know
when someone's about to bring out the waterworks. But seriously, if
you need someone to talk to, I'll gladly listen." he held her
gently, it's been a while since he'd done something like this. A
long while.
"A-are you su-sure? I don't th-think you-you'll listen to ha-half
my so-sob story without fall-falling asleep." Ellis asked, her
tears actually flowing now. She held her face away from his shirt
so she wouldn't get it wet with salty tears of hers. She knew he
probably wouldn't appreciate that. 'Jezz, I've only known him
for like 30 minutes and I'm already telling him my past and
breaking down like a freaking baby!' she scolded herself,
sniffing.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"No, I promise I won't fall asleep. I actually have a few
secrets myself.." I said hugging her a little tighter, "You don't
have to tell me if you don't want to. I completely understand." my
shirt was slightly wet, but I didn't mind one bit. Should I tell
her or not? I don't know.. I thought to myself as I held her in
my arms.
"O-okay..." Ellis said, straightening as she composed herself. "I
doubt it's the worst thing you've ever heard, but here we go. I've
been bullied for a long while now, I think it started in 3rd grade,
just when girls started feeling all high and mighty. Of course,
living within the same area as them, the made life a living hell.
Even out of school, they messed with me. Once I got pushed to low
down the popularity chain, my friends stopped being my friends.
They didn't ignore me, they freaking started messing with me too.
No one knew they were bullying me until they went really far. I had
been cutting already, so I was pretty far down depression wise.
What they did changed everything. I was walking down the
sidewalk, and they came up, saying the usual insults. I tried to
ignore them, but then one of them pushed me. I fell into the road,
and a pickup slammed into me. They say it's a miracle that I
survived. I still have scars from the crash, so I wear things to
cover them up.We moved soon after when I got accepted here and we
also moved to get away from... Them." She looked down, tears
dripping onto the sheets and blankets of her bed.
Jfc, bad backstory
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"That's horrible Ellis.. if they were doing things like
that to you, then they aren't true friends. But.. I do have some
secrets to tell too. I guess I'll confess as well." I said and got
ready to speak "I have a younger brother, I was about fifteen at
the time and him being only ten. If you don't know already, this
town has a dark, gory past and I guess much hasn't changed since
then. My mom wasn't home and left me in charge of my younger
brother, my dad wasn't around either because he travels for work."
I continued "So me and my younger brother were playing inside the
house, but I guess luck was never on my side, after about ten
minutes into our game I heard someone inside the house, I thought
my mom was back already but I was wrong. Dead wrong. It so happens
a burglar had gotten into the house, but at the time, I didn't know
who it was. I was going to check it out, but my younger brother had
already went in that direction, I don't remember if I panicked or
not, but I followed him. And by the time I got there he was laying
unconscious on the ground and an unfamiliar man hovering over him.
I only knew one thing, I had to protect my brother. I was at a
disadvantage but I did remember some basics in combat from my dad.
So I did indeed fight back, it got to the point where I had a major
injury along my back and I felt like I was going to pass out at any
minute. I felt like a cornered animal and I lashed out at him, I
ripped off his ear and took the knife from his hands and stabbed
him in the gut. And after that, my dad was pretty strict so I got a
pretty good beating.. but I promised myself not to get caught up in
anything that dangerous again. And for remembrance I have this
deep, horrible scar along my back."
"Alain, I... Can't believe that happened to you. I'm so sorry. And
you didn't have to tell me that, yet you did. I'm still so sorry."
Ellis said, eyes wide as she looked up from the sheets, before she
tackle hugged him, holding him tight to her.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"You told me some pretty truamatizing experiences so I felt
it was only right that I did the same. But in the end I'm happy,
because I protected my younger brother, and he's safe. Though he
feels pretty bad about what had happened. And you don't have to be
sorry-" I said before Ellis glomped me. I let out a little squeak
as you held me tight.
Ellis loosened he grip on the boy slightly, and nodded. "You should
be happy you protected him. You deserved a medal a hero would get,
not s beating from your dad." She said against the fabric of his
shirt, her hands gentle as she touched is back when her arms
wrapped around him, scared she would hurt him or his scar.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
I felt her grip loosening around my waist, "A medal, aye?
Well, just knowing my brother was safe was way better then any
medal. And I'm pretty sure I'd faint if I was presented on stage."
I laughed nervously. It did feel good to talk to Ellis, I felt like
a weight that I had been carrying for years had just been
lifted.
"Hmmm, we could change that! I am a theater major after all!" Ellis
said, saying theater fancy like. She smiled up at him, her chin
resting on his chest softly.
[Eww short post ;;]
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"I'd rather we not.." I replied, though I was smiling down at her.
"How about we don't put me on stage and I'll treat you this
weekend." I offered, I did know some good places around the town.
And the park wasn't bad either, he liked to watch the nature around
him.
