Pumpkin settled down, then opened her wing so the girl could join her. Please don't go.

He whirled around, angry. "Yeah, okay. Keep throwing things at me! At least I can freaking talk! I have opposable thumbs! You don't! So HA!" he yelled, hurling the fish back at him.

She smiled and curled up next to her.

That hurt. Not the fish the words. He saddened and turned. He walked away from the shelter and just found a rock to curl up onto. They could all talk once, but now only a very few could bond with another. He wasnt one.

He snorted and pawed the ground, showing him his back and the broken spins. Then he laid back down and just stared out at the water.

Jake returned, looking at the rock sadly. "Dragon? I...I'm sorry..." he mumbled, before heading back home. He was stupid. he shouldn't have hurt him. He should have left the poor dragon alone.

Phoenix was stuck down there though. He tried and tried but couldn't get out. He sighed and just curled up.


Back at the village Sam was having another argument with her father the chief. It ended with her snorting and walking away right past Jake.

Jake watched her go, longingly. Sam was so strong, so pretty and kind. He wished he could get her to notice him. Sighing, he headed home, pushing his way past the sticky door and dropping his stuff down. He closed the door and went to sit down on his couch.
