Finhawk's Sprite Cave
Forum-Index → Fanmades → Spriting → Finhawk's Sprite CaveI already have an art thread but since I'm most likely gonna try to do some more of these I thought I might as well post them here instead...
I would appreciate it if you had some tips for a beginner. ;]

Stuff I've made for other people:
If you have any question ask me c;
And the charmander-squirtle is pretty good, same with bulba-scrafty, but a suggestion for bulbasaur is painting the spots too, with any colour that fits from scrafty. And the charmander-scrafty is so funny x3
At first is good that you try with simple pokemon, but once you get the idea and you find them quite easy, try to challenge yourself, or let others challenge you, sometimes it's funny. Once someone asked me to make a fusion of shiny regigigas and dragonite, and I think it looked nice. And another time I challenged myself to fuse some different pokemons like haxorus, alakazam, hydreigon, bisharp, blaziken, haunter...it's very funny! Just keep practising, because I'm sure you will do some awesome sprites c;
(And if you've got suggestions for spriting things, tell me, because I don't know what to do xD)
I actually did paint bulba's spots too (with the color from scrafty's belly) but I guess it doesn't fit too well in the end. The spots kinda stand out too much. :d
Well, I didn't wanna try anything too complicated at first and fail miserably. XD And you guys are always free to ask me to do anything. I just didn't say that before since I thought no one would want anything from a beginner like me. :p
Beginners are not necessarily bad. It all depends if you have read and understood enough from different tutorials and if you know how to apply the "theory"
I suggest you to keep trying a little more with simple recolors of small pokemon. When you feel sure, go for bigger pokemon that have more colours or shades (hydreigon, skarmory, giratina...) to see if you really got the idea. I would suggest to try fusions after you get how to recolour correctly without problems (actually I think you already got it since the shades fit and you remembered to colour outlines). Remember that fusions require coloring the pokemon base as the other one correctly. Its just that one thing requires another and such.
Ok I tend to write too much sorry xD
Keep practising, Im sure you will do very good ones o3o as for fusions, at first try simple ones of pokemon that have a similar body shape. Im about to make complicated fusions tutorial so it may hekp you in the future.
Keep trying :3 //already subscribed
Alright, I'll try out some more complicated recolors soon enough and I've actually got two more fusions waiting to be posted after I've got rid of that white block behind them. ^^
That's awesome~ =D Thought you have already helped me more than enough. XD
You've got even more weird ideas than me! xD but those are the best. Weird ideas are the funiest ones! I just can't wait to see more from you x3
Could I give you a little challenge? I don't think it's like ultra hard, and just do it if you feel inspirated. Try to recolor Salamence as Milotic and viceversa :3 I'm curious to see how they could look like.
(Btw did I put in the tutorials to save images as png? Yours are correctly saved, but always be careful with jpeg, they make sprites look blurry >w<)
I'll be stalking the thread, but I'll try not to post much, I don't want to be the only one posting xD
I don't mind you posting, it's good to hear some opinions since I'm so new at this. :3
I also did a couple of new recolors:
I wasn't thrilled at how that first Solosis turned out so I tried using different grays on different parts. I kinda like the second more... :I And the Zebstrika just looks plain weird. XD
Aaaand I wanted to try doing some simple lineless pokemon so the poor Diglett became my victim. >D
The nose looks a bit odd but other than that I think it's fine for a first try. :p
And both solosis are pretty nice recolored, but it's true that the second one looks better xD
And yes, the Zebstrika looks like veery weird. Sometimes some pokemon don't look good with certain other pokemon's colours, that happens xD
And nice first trying, hehe. Didn't you forgot to delete rocks' outlines though o.o or is it just visual impression? xD
I'm also thinking about trying to fuse three pokemons into one. Any ideas which pokemon I should use?
Oooh advanced fusions, you're already going for them?
That's up to you, but I'd suggest using pokemons with similar shapes. Take a nice base pokemon and the easiest for starting with advanced fusions is adding wings of one pokemon and tail/s and colour from other c:
Just a warning; try not to use skarmory's wings, they have many shades and may not fit the coloring of other pokemons xD
And here's the three pokemon fusion I mentioned before. I don't like it one bit! >.< So I used the same pokemons (Wooper, Purrloin and Petilil) to make another one and only used the colors from Petilil this time... :I
Aaand then I made more recolors:
And some fusions:
I'm okay with how that Typhlosion turned out but that charizard... It's just... Sheesh. -____-;
Bored yet? This isn't over yet, I've got one more. XD I tried making my pokesona Steve:
It ain't perfect but for now it's the best I can manage... ^^;
