Melez looked back and forth between Azazael and Eona and the
rabbits. "There looks to be enough, but that really depends on if
the guest will want to stay for dinner." What she wanted to say was
that he'd be staying, but didn't want to make him uncomfortable if
he didn't want to stay. What an interesting residence. It houses a
dragon, a halfbreed, and the son of Death. What an odd cavern.
"I would enjoy staying for dinner if you guys are okay with that.
Though, I might disappear. If called..." he said, rubbing the back
of his head and ruffling his hair. It looked adorably ruffled but
he didn't seem to notice. Eona shook her head, smiling. "Well, I'm
going to go clean these and then get cooking. You guys going to be
okay here?" she asked.
Melez nodded, hiding her happiness that Azazael was staying
perfectly. "You don't want any help cleaning those Eona?" Melez
kept her eyes off of Azazael's hair as she knew she'd either stare
or say something stupid if she did look. Are you falling for
the child of Death? Who is the guest? I am, now I suppose I
don't even need you to answer that question as it is quite plain.
Just as a polite heads up, if you break his heart, his father will
come after you and there is no where you can hide from Death
himself. Thanks for the warning. I have no intention of
breaking his heart so you can be quiet now.
"Well, I interrupted you guys. I was gonna let you both go on with
that you were up to," Eona grinned. "But if you would like, you can
come help me. Though, I don't know what Azazeal will do." Azazeal
blushed slightly, knowing that Eona knew. He shook his head,
cursing the dragons sense of smell and over all ability to read
people. "I can help too. If that's okay."
Melez stared at Eona and her already red face grew to a slightly
deeper shade. "It was just a hug Eona..." She said casually so as
not to reveal embarrassment. "But yes, I'd like to come and help."
She smiled before glancing to Azazael. "You'd like to help clean
them?" I doubt he would like to, but he wants to so he can be
near you. Are you just playing innocent or are you really that
naïve? I said be quiet.
Eona giggled, trying to school herself into being good. "Alright.
So long as it wasn't too important." "Well, I would like to help.
You guys offered to feed me so, yes. Unless it would be better if I
did the dishes after dinner? Also, I would rather be near you guys
then just here. I'm not sure what I'd do and I don't want to get
into anything I shouldn't. Curiosity killed the cat. And while I
don't think I'll end up dead, I'm sure you both have stuff you'd
rather I not see. And I don't want to get into it on accident,"
Azazeal admitted, deciding being honest was best.
Melez stared at Azazael as he spoke, blinking a couple of times
trying to keep from giggling too much. "You're the guest. If you
don't want to help you don't really have to..." She chuckled still
smiling. "And about getting into stuff..." She glanced off at her
room then back to him. "I do suppose there are a couple things I
wouldn't want you getting your hands into." She can't help but
laugh at her own words.
"Yes, but I don't want to be a rude house guest. The kind that eats
you out of house and home, gets into all your stuff, then sits back
and doesn't lift a finger to help," Azazeal told her, smiling. His
cat eyes were filled with mirth and he walked over to her and Eona
before taking the rabbits from Eona and setting off for the hidden
stream. Eona blinked, staring after him. "Um...how did you..."
"Sorry. I forgot I haven't actually been here in person yet. Just
in castings. I really like this cave and often find myself drawn
here in castings. Between here and the treehouse," he said, musing
about something. Eona turned to Melez, hoping Melez knew more about
what he was talking about. She wasn't put off by Azazeal, or
judging him. She was just confused and hoped that Melez could help
explain.
Melez watched him walk of almost as confused as Eona. "He can be
cast through time and has apparently been here in one or more of
them..." She looked to Eona sort of hoping that she didn't ask how
he could do this as she didn't want to explain it. She'd also have
to ask him about those tendril things later on. She shrugged and
walked off after him offering her hand behind her to Eona so they
could walk together.
Eona seemed to accept it. Taking Melez's hand, she stepped quickly
to keep up. "Well, if I can be both a huge dragon and this tiny
human, what's to stop our mysterious gentleman from being able to
throw himself through time? I can accept that. Though I have to ask
him how that works!" she whispered, very intrigued. "I think I'm
going to people watch him...he is like no one I've ever meet. I
can't pin him," she mused. Azazeal chuckled from up ahead like he'd
heard. He actually had read it in Eona's thoughts. He couldn't read
thoughts as in word for word, but he could get feelings. However,
this dragoness seemed to broadcast her thoughts so he had no
trouble picking out what she was thinking. With Melez, he couldn't
get anything. At least nothing more then what he could read from
her body language.
Melez chuckled as she listened to her friend then looked up to
Azazael as she heard his laughter. She hadn't heard it before. It
sounded so melodic and sweet. She began wondering if she could make
him do it again. "Can't pin him? Oh, figure him out?" She chuckled.
"You know, he didn't tell me how his jumping through time works
either, perhaps we ask him together?" Why not ask him just by
yourself? Then you'd be alone with him... I said be quiet!!!
No need to yell, my gods...
"Oh! We should! So long as he's okay with that. I don't want to
make him feel like his some fascinating new pet," she said, then
paused. "He's the first guy here ever," she whispered. "Like, ever.
This is so strange! But cool! Oh! I am so excited!" She danced
around, showing just how excited she was, kind of like a puppy
meeting new people. Azazeal looked back, smiling at them. He'd
reached the stream and stood there, waiting for them.
Melez giggled watching her friend hop around excitedly when she
stopped all of a sudden and looked to her friend. "Uhm, Eona? Do
you have a spare bed or something? I just realized that he doesn't
have a spot to sleep..." Melez thought for a moment. "He could take
my bed... I'll sleep on the couch or somewhere else..." You
sure you wouldn't rather share your bed? Okay, that's it. I
draw the line there. Shut it. Geez, I was joking... No you
weren't. Now be quiet!!
"Well, worst comes to worse, I'll change my sheets, he can sleep on
my bed and I'll curl up in my nest. I haven't slept there in ages!
And after today, having a dragon play guard dog might be a good
thing," Eona reassured her, coming to pat her arm. Azazeal watched
Eona dance around a moment before shaking his head and saying,
"Eona, you are so very different from any dragon I have meet. Both
modern day and from your own time." Eona paused, turning to look at
him with her green eyes huge. "You...have met...dragons?"
Melez's face looked similar to Eona's as she turned to Azazael talk
about meeting a dragon that was not Eona. Perhaps he knew of a male
dragon near here... She shook her head to get out of the slight
trance. "I'm going to work on the rabbits while you two talk..."
Melez took the rabbits from Azazael and got to work skinning them
carefully.
Azazeal was torn, wanting to help and wanting to tell Eona about
things. Biting his lip, he decided to do both. Bending down to help
Melez if she needed it while talking to Eona. "Long ago, dragons
lived abundantly," he began, smiling as Eona settled in, looking
very excited. "But sadly, things took a turn. I didn't personally
know your parents, but I knew of them. Their death wasn't good. I'm
sorry, Eona. I don't think I can even take you to where they were.
The place has kind of been taken over. But you were stolen, an egg
that was thought to be a gemstone. A huge treasure. In a way, you
are. The most prized possession a dragon can have. You're egg was
sold to my...employer's family and they kept you for a long time.
The conditions for your hatching were prepared well in advanced and
taken with great care. Sadly, they are idiots and beyond cruel," he
said, sadly. "They have been tracking a male dragon. Ever since
they hatched you. Their plan was and still is to have you be this
sires broodmare. I want you to know I am highly against this. I
have no say in the matter and they will try to catch both of you."
Eona blinked, pulling back slightly. She hadn't known any of that.
And it was shocking.
Melez had to stop working on the animals as she listened to Azazael
speak about Eona and her past. She turned around to stare at Eona.
"As long as I am here I will stand by your side and fight them to
my last breath if that's what it takes to take your freedom." Her
voice was firm and confident. But Red, why would you do
that? Because she saved my life and I owe her. Oh really?
That's all? For pity sakes... Pity? Does that have something
to do with this? Stop! I like her! She's an amazing person and
cares about my health and my well being... She's like a big
sister... In more ways than one. Hmm. Well, I'll let you to your
conversation then.
Azazeal was watching Melez, his features pensive as he tried to
figure out what she was doing. Something had made her pause, but it
didn't seem to be just the story. Aiming to look like he'd
accidentally done it, Azazeal brushed his hand against Melez's,
hoping that would give him some clue. All it did was give him a
very blank image. Like she was deep in a dreamless sleep. But she
was awake and clearly, something was amiss. "I...I don't know how
to feel about that," Eona whispered, letting herself fall onto her
bum. "On one hand, there is a male dragon out there. He might be
someone I want to meet. And I want to keep him safe too, even if
there isn't anything between us. On the other...he could be just as
nasty as they are...he could be like one of the ones from the
stories that made us so unwanted. I don't want you to be hurt,
Melez. I will fight to help defend you as well. And I plan to stay
free."
Melez set the rabbit down that she had been working on, and had
somehow managed to keep her hands clean so when she offered Eona a
hand up she wouldn't grab a set of bloody digits. "I would prefer
you to not be hurt as well Eona. So I think we can keep one another
safe, besides, I think we could patch each other up if it came to
that." She smiled slightly having had an idea. "This may not be a
great idea, but, what if we went to see this dragon? Obviously not
as a prisoner, but perhaps Azazael could tell us where he is so
Eona can find out if she wants to continue fighting these people?"
She glanced over to Azazael for his reaction to this idea.
"While meeting him may be a good idea, I still don't think she or
he should be anywhere near those people. Quiet frankly, they are
insane. They would not treat either of them well and would sell
their hatchlings off to the highest bidder," Azazeal said, rather
gravely. "If this is the right path, he should be cool. Most times
he is. But the future isn't set, so he may not be as cool." Eona
stared at him, clutching Melez's hand. "Meet a dragon? A boy
dragon? I really want to! Just so that I have met someone of my
kind at least once. Oh! Can we please? Pretty please?"
