Melez was ripped from her thoughts as Eona embraced her. "N-no...
He just, confused me... He acted as though he knew me very well...
No one really knows me, except you of course, they all know my
father..." She shakes her head, still very confused. "Let me tend
to your leg okay?" She gently reached over and put a hand on her
calf, above where the injury was.
Eona put her hand on Melez's shoulder, watching her for a moment.
"Alright...But I still think we have to talk about it later. If
only to decide what we'll do if he comes back," she told her, then
relaxing to let her friend heal her.
Melez leant closer and placed her hands on the injured spot and she
begins to mutter. A very faint light grows from her hands. The
light grows quickly and suddenly there is a sound like a whip
cracking and the light starts to fade. When the light has gone,
Melez is laying on the ground wide eyed and staring at the ceiling.
"Well... That didn't knock me out at least..." She chuckles as she
sits up grinning like a fool.
Eona shook her head, giggling. Then she swiveled her foot, testing
it. "Thank you. So, do you want to talk about him now? Or leave it
for later?" She asked, putting her hand on Melez's arm. "I
think...I think he likes you...or knows something about you. Have
you meet him before today?"
Melez jumped slightly as Eona's hand was placed on her arm as
though she didn't see it coming. "What's there to talk about? He's
weird, and yeah, I think he likes me... Otherwise why would he call
me sweetheart and darling? And, angel..." She shudders. "And no, I
don't remember meeting anyone like him..." With everything she said
she's been staring down at her hands.
"Well, how about how are you? With everything? I'm still processing
the guy back in town calling me a dragon...And that guy?" she
pointed to where Azazeal had disappeared. "Azazeal? He is
strange...But strangely, I don't think he is...bad...Like, the
touchy guy was clearly bad. Red flags galore. But Azazeal was
more...caution? Does this make sense? I feel like I'm just
babbling...What was that though? The whole shifting?" she asked,
cautiously. "You aren't hurt from it, right?"
Melez nodded. "He didn't seem like he wanted to hurt us oddly
enough... If he wanted to there were ample opportunities for him to
do that..." She smiled slightly. "The shifting thing? Heh. Well,
long story short I let a few minor demons possess different parts
of me to allow me to win the fight. No, I'm not hurt..." I may
have an extra passenger for a while though... That's right Red!
You and me all the way!! All the way? Only until our contract
expires more like. What is with you and these negative vibes
huh? You're just a sourpuss. Now be quiet please... Fine,
fine... "How are you? You said your ankle works, can you
stand on it?" Melez asked as she continued staring at her hands.
Eona sighed, feeling like something was off. "Yes, I can try. Then
I'm going to go out and hunt. We'll at least have some meat to eat
later," she said, moving to stand. She stretched her ankle, working
out any kinks. Then Eona took Melez's hand, trying to get her to
look at her. "Something's off. I'm here if you want to talk. I
won't press anymore."
Melez smiled and jumped slightly as Eona took her hand as though
she didn't see her reach out, and she stood turning towards the
sound of Eona's voice, but looked a little to one side of her.
"Something's off? I'm fine, your ankle is healed and that Azazael
is gone. For now at least..." She chuckled slightly. "You're
probably just feeling a little drained from all the excitement..."
She said trying to keep the subject away from her.
"Is...Melez, are your eyes okay?" she asked, waving her hand to see
if Melez saw. "Did that spell mess with them?" Eona was very
worried about her. If Melez had gone blind because she'd healed
Eona, Eona didn't know what she would do.
Melez made no flinch as Eona's hand passed in front of them, but
her smile did fade and she sighed. "Yes. The flash caused me
temporary blindness. It's happened before, should be gone in a
couple hours... No need to worry." She smiled. "I have a good sense
of touch so I can find my way around."
Eona hugged her, saddened that her friend would have to be
inconvenienced by her. "I'm sorry. So long as it goes away...You're
sure you'll be okay here alone until I get back?" she asked,
wanting to help her up and into a chair at least.
Melez tilted her head. "Get back? You're going back into town?!"
She almost yelled as she stood up of her own accord. "If you're
going into town, you're not going without me." She stated as though
there was no ins or outs and that was it.
"No! Not into town. Not for months, if at all. We'll go to a
different town. But we need food. I'm going to hunt. Are you going
to be okay with that?" she asked. "I won't be long. Just getting a
couple of rabbits."
"Just to hunt? Alright. Don't be too long or I'll have to go and
look for you." Melez laughed as she patted the hand of her friend
that Eona had used to her wrist. "I'll be fine. I'll sit here
against the wall and meditate. That might speed up the recovery of
my eyes."
Melez shook her head. "I don't think so." She smiled as she sat
back down and slid her hand along the floor and moved so she put
her back against the cave wall. "I'm going to be just fine."
Eona smiled, then set out. After a few moments, there was a
presence next to Melez. Azazeal waited for her to realize he was
there. He knew Eona had gone out but wasn't sure how long she would
be.
Melez took a few deep breaths, and blinked her useless eyes, but
tilted her head slightly and sniffed, definitely noticing the
presence and the slight change in odor. She leapt up and moved into
the center of the chamber, glaring blankly back at where she sat.
"What are you doing back here?" She growled.
"I came back to say I was sorry. I shouldn't have kissed you
without your permission. But I had to at least once. Just in case
this ends up being different," he explained. "Can you forgive me?"
he asked, sounding less sure, more exhausted then earlier.
