Melez couldn't help but let a smile creep across her face as she looked at the one resting on Jin's lips. "You're right, I did promise you dinner..." She takes a breath before continuing. "I'll go out and get the things I'll need for dinner and perhaps some clean clothes before I take the bath, I do prefer a much cooler bath than the water you put in there." She chuckled slightly before heading for the door. "If you needed to bath while I'm gone I wouldn't pay any heed to it. I've bathed in worse..." She said as she set her hand on the doorknob. "Thank you. For taking me in." She said as she stared at the door. "I know I've said this a lot, but it means a lot to me. Of all the places I've been and the people I've met, so far you're the kindest." Her amber eyes were filled with what seemed like sadness or even sorrow as they met with Jin's emerald green eyes. After she finished she turned and headed outside, shutting the door almost silently before he could reply. She moved swiftly down the street and pulled the hood up on the trenchcoat as she navigated the streets and alleys, her mind on why she said what she said and why she feels like she could trust Jin so much. No one had ever made her feel so trusting for a long time. She had learned to not trust anyone in her journeys for she had been tricked, double crossed, and cheated far to many times to count.

Jin watched the girl leave and left the smile slowly drift from his face as he caught a shadow over beside a tree flinch as the suns light reached it. He was sure of a few things. The house would need to be tripled in the protection if his guest stayed again. Something gently nagging at the edge of his mind and as he reached for it, it was gone.
He left the house carrying a basket of herbs grabbed in tight bundles. He began to chant low and quietly. He took his trowel and dug holes at the five northern points of his home. In the bottom of the basket was Melezs bloodied and torn shirt. He carefully removed the garment and stood by the door removing the dry blood from where the wound was. He now took the little bit of drown dirt like substance and sprinkled it carefully along the door frame. She won't even know the barriers up. He smiled to himself before pulling out a hit from his ponytail and burying it in front of the doorway. Careful to make it look undisturbed. Then he went around a few more times before going out to his back yard and practicing throwing daggers into a dead stump he painted into a target. Scoring the center every time.

Melez goes over what she wants to make for dinner as she enters a clothing store and buys an outfit very similar to the one she was wearing and puts the bag over her good shoulder and heads for the grocery store. "Flour, chicken, curry, pepper, onions, lemon juice, cooking oil, candle, rice... I would like some pots and utensils too..." She mutters her list to herself as she gets the foods and items. She heads to the checkout and buy my items, pay for them and head home. As she passes by a wall she notices the cracks seem to flow as she passes them. Damn... Still after me... She thought to herself as she came back to the house she was currently taking shelter in and knocking before opening the door and entering. She set the food items down by the stove and checked the temperature of the tub water. "Still to hot... I'll set dinner to cook and simmer before bathing..." She set her new clothes by the tub and went back into the kitchen to begin preparations.

(Here is where it gets long, she's making curry chicken with onions, so if you don't want to read the really long paragraph don't open this and jump to the bottom.)

She set a candle next to the burners and lit it, she set out a cutting board next to the candle, a bowl, the flour, the chicken and a good knife. She cut up the chicken into bite sized pieces, and put them into the bowl and poured some flour into it. She mixed up the flour and chicken giving them a thorough coating. She let them sit in the bowl as she put a pan on the stove and poured a little cooking oil into it after She'd turned on the burner. She then put the pieces of chicken into the pan and let them cook until the coating turned a golden brown. She took them out, dumped the excess flour into the trash and put the chicken back into the bowl and poured some lemon juice and sprinkled a little pepper on them and set the bowl aside. She set up the rice in a pot of water to boil and took out the onions and cut them into thin slices putting them into the pan of oil. Once those were cooked she poured that and the oil into the bowl with the chicken then sprinkled a good deal of curry into the bowl and mixed it all up, sprinkling in a little more pepper and lemon juice. Then she put a little bit of flour into a small bowl and add in just enough water to the flour to make a thin paste. She poured that into the mixture of the chicken and onions and mixed it in, thickening the broth into a gravy-like consistency. She put the whole bowl into the oven to cook the rest of the way and stay warm. She turned her attentions to the rice and put a little curry into the water to make the rice taste better. She turned off the heat on the rice and let it simmer.

(Continue here)
Once she had everything where it could be left for a while she blew out the candle and entered the bathroom shutting the door behind her. She got out of her filthy clothes and into the now lukewarm water, dust and dirts coming off as she got into the water. She cleaned herself, only taking a little time before relaxing for maybe a minute before getting out and getting into the clean fresh clothes. She took a deep breath and smiled as she could smell the curry in the bathroom. She stepped out of the bathroom with her dirt clothes now in the bag her new ones were in and Jin's shirt that he had leant her under her arm. She set her dirty clothes by the door and folded Jin's shirt nicely and set it on the table. Then she set about cleaning the dishes she didn't need.

Jin was still throwing knives into the tree stump. He felt better then he had in a while. The stump, looked like it had gone through the shredder and come out barely intact. A large chunk now missing from the center of the battered tree stump.
He gathered his throwing knives sitting down on another of the many stumps around and began meticulously cleaning and putting them back into the case. The sun was beginning to set and as he pit his knives away in the chest outside he saw a shadow moving around waiting for the darkness. Jin was now sweaty and starving. His stomach letting out a dull roar as he walked back to the front of the house.
A's he opened the door he immediately began to salivate. The smells coming from what he could only imagine the kitchen. He walked inside following the dizzying scent to find Melez standing at the sink fresh and clean, cleaning the dishes again. He looked down at himself and groaned running off into the bathroom where seeming the water used, dumped it quickly filling it with the now ice cold water left over and bathed quickly. Unting his hair and washing the blond locks. When he was finished he dumped his own water and went to the bathroom sink shaving with a small dagger he kept on the counter before almost running into Melez as he made his way back I.to the kitchen. "Dios mio. That smells fricken fantastic!"

Melez heard the backdoor shut but kept her focus on the dishes as she didn't want to drop them. She mentally cursed at herself as she realized she hadn't emptied her bath water. She had just finished the dishes and was drying her hands as Jin came out of the bathroom clean and slightly wet. She grinned broadly as he complimented her cooking. "I think it does! It should taste that good too." She set the towel down and walked over to the small oven and checked the earthenware pot which seemed to be keeping it all very warm. She then checked the rice which was done. "I hope you're hungry..." She chuckled as she took out a couple of bowl-like plates (just deep plates) and set them on the table. She moved the rice into a pretty bowl and the curry chicken and onions into a matching bowl setting them both on the table with serving utensils and forks. She set the used dishes into the sink and ran some water in them. Out of the bag of food and new dishes she pulled out a couple of cloth napkins, setting one at each spot before sitting at her spot.

Jin watch Melez prepare the meal even putting out napkins. His stomach growled in anticipation. For the first time Melez saw Jin with his hair down. Which he often didn't do anyway. His face framed in the soft and slightly wet blond hair. He smiled and sat down at the table trying to be a bit polite. Though as he got closer to the food he could barely stand it. He licked his lips and made nice about using his utensils as he poured the curry over the rice and mixed it together. As he ate he made soft noises of approval. As he finished off his plate he smiled at Melez a wide toothy smile. "I have not had something so good in a very long time." He was still smiling as he got up grabbing the two small loaves of bread that he had made slicing them up and using them as napkins to wipe up the rest of the curry and rice. Which he promptly ate. Finally satisfied he looked at Melez. It was time to be a bit more serious. "Melez. I thank you dearly for the food, but I gotta ask... are the shadows that showed up here last night looking for you?"

Melez ate her own creation with great contentedness as she was very pleased with the outcome. She grinned every time she heard the happy grunt, or sound of approval from her host. She finished her plate a little after Jin did as he used bread, she simply moved the rice around to pick up the rest of the curry sauce. Any semblance of a grin or happiness faded from her face as he asked her about the shadows and their purpose. Her eyes shot up to Jin's and fell to her plate. "Yes. They're here for me." Her amber orbs darted up once more to meet his. "I did nothing wrong I'll have you know that now. There are simply people who despise my family and would have terrible things done to us..." She looks off to the window remembering the one time that she had been lack in keeping a watch. She remembers the cold and the darkness, but it's the whispering in her head that scared her the most. She had never felt true terror until that moment. She had escaped because the sun had come up, but since then she had kept one step ahead of them. Avin had set her back a good deal with that attack. She turned back to Jin with an apologetic look on her face. "I'm sorry for endangering you and not speaking the truth when you brought me here... I should go. I fulfilled my promise of dinner and will take my leave now..." She stood up from the table quickly setting her plate in the sink before moving to the door.

He was still unfazed as Melez got up and began to walk to the door. With his superior height he took three steps and stood in front of the door. Arms outstretched he looked down at Melez seeing all sorts of emotion running along in her face. He crossed his arms over his chest.
"Not a chance. If you want to leave you will either have to beat me in a fight which I really dont want or you will have to wait until the sun is up and the Shadows are hiding. I may not be someone who can help you with your family problems..." He paused a moment thinking over his words carefully. "Though in this house you have a better chance then anywhere else at this time. Besides its now pitch black out there."
He reached a hand out placing it on her good shoulder before smiling that contented and lazy smile. "Oh and now you have to teach me that recipe. Plus I've got a few safeguards up around the house. Those shadows can't even come close. Or other demon." He looked off towards the window. "Though angels.... I don't have any guards for... they are pretty much immune to anything but demon blood." He let his hand fall from her shoulder and reached up to shake his hair out moving into the living room as he tied it back up. "Should we be worried about angels too?"

Melez jumped slightly as the much taller man moved in front of her blocking her path. She knew if she had truly desired to leave she could slip into his shadow and under the door. But entering a shadow's domain while they're after you is a very unwise thing. She hadn't seen him fight, but she knew he had seen her down that large human in the street. It was when he smiled that she knew he was being completely sincere about everything he was saying and that made her smile as well. He was far above everyone she had met in her journeys that had given her room or board. She chuckled slightly before sighing as he walked away. "Avin shouldn't bother me for a long while... It's usually several weeks between visits... Even if he did show up he'd either taunt me about my father or he'd attack me again. Either way I'll live." She followed the taller being into the living room pushing a few strands of her own dark red hair behind her horn. "He wouldn't bother you, though if we did fight it may make a bit of a mess..." She looked down to the floor. She hated being a bother or inconvenience. "As long as I stay here I'll cook and clean and do anything else you need me to do. If I, at any point, become a burden I'll leave immediately." Her tone of voice was empty of emotion until she spoke of being deadweight, then her voice became almost shaky, as though she was extremely concerned about it.

Jin waved her off dismissing her talk of being a burden. Honestly he didn't care as long as she cooked. "I'm a grown.... being and I can clean myself." He smiled. "Though I accept your offer of you cooking as payment for you staying here, as for messes, as long as my plants are fine." He looked outside to see a particularly large shadow wandering the street besides a lamp post. He sat down on the wooden bench beneath the window and leaned against the wall stretching out his long legs. Now what? Jin wasn't sure if he wanted to just go to sleep or do anything else. If he were really honest Jin wanted to go and stretch his wings. Fly around outside of town maybe. Though now it was to late and he certainly wasn't stupid enough to go out with those shadows roaming around.
"Melez. What .... um I mean.... why don't you tell me a little about yourself? Or if you have any questions for me?" He crossed his arms behind his head looking completely relaxed. "It might be good for me to know a little more about you. Or vice versa." He held up his left hand. "I promise I won't laugh, or lie. So be careful what you ask."

Melez nodded as he said he'd accept her payment, she felt a little better about that, not being deadweight and such. She slowly sat down on the floor crossing her legs and gently stretching her shoulder and trying to figure out why she wasn't tired. Perhaps it's the excitement of it all, or the oddness of having an actual house to live in, instead of a barn, inn or a tree. Upon hearing her name she looked up to Jin sitting in the chair, but looked down as he asked her to talk about herself. What should she tell him? What shouldn't she tell him? Her gaze returned to him as he explained he wouldn't lie making her feel more than simply obligated to tell the truth. "Well, as you know I'm half angel half demon... My mother is an angel, my father the other." Her mind ran over everything she thought he might want to know and what he should know about her. "When I was fifty I left home and have been traveling since. I don't stay long in towns because my identity is usually found out if I stay too long..." She looked up to the ceiling before looking back at him. "As I was born like this, I don't know how it is to die like both my mother and father do. Though I have somewhat of an idea..." She trails off with that last sentence, her voice quiet and as though she's got a frog in her throat. She clears said figurative frog before speaking again. "I don't think you answered my question from before, so I shall ask once more. Why did a human take an interest in saving what looked like a nobody demon like me then once it was found that said demon was more, why did said human continue to help?" Her voice was strong and far from the quiet meek voice that spoke only moments before.

He listened carefully. Angel was mom, and dad was a demon. He nodded before leaning back against the wall. Well at least she is not afraid to ask. "Well I don't like to watch someone die. So I wasn't gonna just let you wander the streets and die when I knew I could help." He looked down at Melez smiling again his eyes bright with mischief.
What would she say. You know what I guess we will just roll with it. "En ole koskaan sanonut olin ihminen." The world's rolled off his tongue in the way that the demons language did.

Melez nodded as he explained why, as she shared the same feelings. Life is precious and shouldn't be wasted. Her head tilted slightly upon the sound of demon words tumbling from Jin's lips. "Missä enkelit oppia puhumaan demoni kieli niin hyvin?" (I know google messes it up, but she's asking where angels learn to speak demon tongue so well.) Her mind was now buzzing. Why couldn't I figure out he was an angel... He certainly was to me. Saved my life... Heh... It's funny how that works... Dad saving mom and then mom saving dad in turn... But will he ask exactly who my parents are and why I started traveling? Her mind was filled with questions, worries and so many more things that her face seemed to go blank.

Jin was quite proud of being so fluent in demon. "Maailma on pimeä paikka, Melez. Opin tehdä ... neuvottelut." He smiled again playfully before sitting up. "Anyway. I know quite a bit that you would probably surprised by." The world outside had again gone dark and Jin felt a little better knowing a bit more. "I guess your dad is a pretty popular in the dark circles?" He was still curious but wanted to be careful with his questions.

Melez chuckled slightly upon hearing what she already knew quite well. Though with the mention of her father and his "popularity" she grew grim. "Not just the dark ones... All manner of circles..." She sighed, debating whether or not to continue. "It was because of his friends that I had to leave... I was going to leave when I turned sixty, but for those reasons I left earlier..." She wondered how old he was, and how old he thought she was. Everyone she had met that had bothered to talk to her never reacted well to her age if she told them. She hadn't met many angels in her journeys and her mother didn't like to talk about her age, come to think of it her father didn't either.

Jin was not very surprised to hear her father was a very wanted man. He nodded before yawning and pulling off a small cherry tomato beside him and eating it as he thought.
The whole demon and Angel age thing didn't make any sort of sense to him. "So your younger then sixty but older then fifty.. I'm not asking since I know you font ask a woman her age I was just making a mental note. I'm twenty two. So... let me see if I got this. Your father is not well liked by a lot of people. You are wanted because well no offense if I were after someone family is the first place to look. Then you've been wandering and this angel guy comes and beats you up from time to time brining us to now. You've had quite an eventful life so far."

Melez nodded as Jin went over to make sure he understood. "I'm fifty-seven and I'm not a woman yet." She chuckled slightly before bowing her head slightly. "In the past seven years of my life I've been through more and have learned more than I ever did in my fifty years at home..." She was silent for a while before she developed another question. She looked up to him and studied his face for a moment before asking. "What color are your wings? I've met very few angels, and seen even fewer wings... I've not seen any the shade mine are..." She said the last part very quietly. She had met precious few angels in her adventure, and only a few of them were in flight. It's not like you'd go up to an angel and ask to see their wings. She wasn't worried about her wings, but she was curious to see if any being has a coloring similar to hers.

Jin paused. What color were his wings? He stood up and immediately sat back down. Then with a slight hesitation in his voice he answered. "My wings are white. Not an eggshell or off white just pure white." Jin seemed slightly uncomfortable in his town he picked on for how big and white his wings were. Though they were easily the largest and strongest. Jin smiled thinking back to that first time he flew.
He was falling since he walked off the cliff. The wind was flowing passed him his hair flinging thus way and that stinging his face. Then he closed his eyes and concentrated. The wings started started to burn as they morphed into the huge wings he would grow into. They spread out and he was no longer falling. He opened his eyes seeing himself reflected in the surface. Then with a quick flap he was soaring higher into the air and back towards the cliff and his father.
He shook his head and looked down towards Melez again relaxed. "They are also really big. Though I added to the marks on my back and now most think I'm a wannabe Angel and don't mess with me. Though I'm kinda well known in some places. What about you?"

Melez shrugged. "My mother's were large and I guess I got the size from her... The tips extend quite far past my fingertips..." She spread her hands out to their fullest extent, though she wasn't sure what he'd think of her color. "My mother's wings are white with golden speckles on them, that's because she went through redemption and passed. Before her redemption her wings were greyish with rusty colored spots... Dad would joke that some of those spots were blood spatters." She chuckled slightly, remembering what happened when an angel saw her wings. She remembered the shame and embarrassment she felt along with the pain of being rejected. She didn't hate her wings, though she did wish she could dye them sometimes. Though personally she really liked the deep red, almost mahogany color of her feathers, she despised them at the same time. "My title is known, but my name and face aren't..." She sighed. "Jorith Jakaan..." She muttered quietly.

(Jorith Jakaan = Offspring of Jakaan. Jakaan is Melez's father.)

If I'm supposed to know who he is

Jin was surprised to hear the name Jakaan. He was a very well known demon. Switching sides in the last big war. Jin was a little more surprised that Melez was that guys daughter. Glancing over to Melez who had grown somewhat somber, and let his emerald eyes look her up and down. He had heard of bounty being put up for her to be brought to so and and so. Each guy putting something more on the line. "You are pretty wanted little one." Jin smiled brightly and looked out the window. He looked like a painting as the moonlight caused his hair to take on a silvery appearance and his skin that glow most angels had seeming more pronounced. "I'm willing to bet in a few days time. We are going to have a lot mire to deal with then just shadows. I say let's see them try." Jin looked back at Melez and stood holding out a hand. "Wanna stay and see how many demons and other things we can take on together? Or do you want my help in doing something else the choice is yours."

Jin had no idea who Jakaan was but he was willing to bet if people were willing to go to the trouble of sending shadows it couldn't be good. He really didn't care to much. He smiled and looked out the window his eyes alit and the moonlight turning his hair a silvery color. He put one arm over his leg and looked like one of those paintings of angels rarely found anymore. His skin giving off a healthy angelic glow.
He turned and loomed down at Melez his eyes showing no sign of fear or anger or anything malicious. "If you don't want to go back how about you and me make a stand here?" He stood and held out his hand. "I may not know who your father is but I say you and me can take on just about anything that comes our way. So if you want to stay you are welcome to."

I feel like it's going to get interesting from here on in ^^
