In the pokemon show, different professions were shown that implemented pokemon and their trainers, such as breeders. There are already many breeders with "shops" set up in forums. It would be easier for them along with other players wanting to do something specific with pokemon if each player could choose an occupation, maybe at a certain level, and be given goals specific to that job to help their progress.

This sounds like a fun idea. Breeders, gardeners, gamblers, treasure hunters, shiny hunters, gym leaders, etc., there are loads of potential occupations members might fit in.

I do have to wonder how "locked" players would be into their professions. Like, would a player be able to choose as many professions as they'd like? If not, would they be able to change their occupation?

Maybe there could be a sort of "Occupation Reputation" mechanic where players could earn rep for professions by reaching certain goals and subsequently unlock some benefits.

I would definitely be a shiny hunter or interactions expert if we did different classifications like this, and doing misc jobs/tasks from time to time to relate to what we mainly do on the game would be rather cool.

For that last part with the goals, I'm thinking that Prof. Rowen can give the goals/tasks

Miss-X, that's a great idea! That's kind of what I had been thinking with the goals. Maybe the players could switch occupations whenever they wanted, but the progress they made with the previous occupation would be lost. And the occupation rep idea is great!

I love this idea and the other idas in the comments adding to it make it sound amazing. I agree with everyone here so far! ;)
