Lucy slipped away from Damon as well frowning. " Well.. the people who raised me weren't my birth parents.. I found that out one night when I was young, I overheard them talking about it.. apparently they were just the latest in a long line of people who'd been guarding my egg.. I just happened to hatch for them and by raised by them.."

"You were?" Eona asked, staring at her. "I...he said I was special...I'd been bought and was part of his families wealth...that they'd lost it all but me...then...then I hatched for him and..." She gasped, putting her head in her hands as a particularly nasty memory surfaces. Staggering back, she tripped and fell down on her butt. "...oh...oh..." Trembling, she hugged herself, trying to shake the memories. Swallowing hard, she clenched her teeth. "Not there...not there...ran...didn't get me...not again...can't...can't..."
"Eona? You okay?" Damon asked, not sure if he should reach out to help her.

Lucy, already stressed, felt like she'd done something extra wrong, and chose the moment to slip away from the others and go into the house where she could cry in peace.
Ash looked between Damon and Eona , not sure what to do, but feeling as if he should do something.

Damon had noticed Lucy leave and looked over at Ash. "Something is wrong. I don't know what but can you help her out? I want to check on Lucy, make sure she's okay."
Eona held her head, staring at her feet. "...he isn't here...can't touch me..."

Ash nodded " I don't know what's wrong but I'll do what I can " Not knowing if Eona would freak out if he touched her, instead he sank down to as close to her level as he could get his taller frame. " Its ok, there's no one else here but me, its ok, you can come back now, no one's going to touch you unless you want them to "

She looked up at him, her normally big green eyes almost all pupil in her fear. "...safe?...master's not here...Ash...nice...won't hurt..." she whispered, then slowly move towards him. Eona planted herself under his arm, relaxing a bit. "Safe...I'm safe...he's gone...can't touch me...I'm safe and Ash's here..." she told herself, breathing evenly to calm herself further.

"Lucy? You alright?" Damon asked, coming inside and searching for her. When he found her, he sat down next to her and gently out his arm over her shoulder. "Hey."

Ash wrapped a tattooed arm around Eona " yeah midget, Ash is here, nobody's going to hurt you while this big dog's in town. If that master guy you mentioned even tries to lay a finger on you I'll shift, rip him into thirds, then mess on, then burn the pieces , how's that? "

Lucy leaned into Damon " sorry I just.. I feel like I did something wrong.. I hope I didn't hurt her.."

That got a shaky laugh that turned more and more steady. "Thank you, Ash...thank you. I...sometimes memories surface really quickly and...I have to sort through them...After I hatched, I was in a zoo...a freak show, really...and not as the midget. If I wasn't in my dragon form, he kick me until I was. For the first four years, I was in my human form three times. I shouldn't complain. I just...it scares me when I get sucked into those memories. Oh! No! I think I made Lucy feel bad! I didn't mean to! She was sad and I pressed the issue..."

"I don't think so. I think it was a coincidence. Are you okay?" he asked, rubbing her shoulder.

Eona nodded, looking up at him. She didn't want to move away from him. But she also didn't want to make him feel like she was forcing him into anything. "Ash? I know I've been a bit strong with the whole liking you thing. I will try to pull back. To not be so clingy and throwing myself at you. But...um...I really like this right now...can we stay like this for a little longer? I feel safe and want to make sure the memories are really gone. If you don't want to, it's okay, we don't have to."

Damon hugged her, gently pulling her into his lap. He kissed her temple and nodded. "I know...I'm so sorry...I think you and I should do something for them. Some sort of marker. Maybe not here in the house but by the waterfall? A stone or something to represent them?"

"Thank you," she murmured, turning her face towards him and sighing. Eona stayed like that for a few minutes longer before pulling back and standing up. She held out her hand to help Ash up, saying, "Should we go in? I've got to tell Lucy I'm sorry."

"Ash and I said a prayer. It really helped," Damon told her. "I think you and I doing something together will help too. We'll get through it but we won't forget. It's like sea glass. The edges smooth but we'll keep it safe. Keep the knowledge of them in our hearts."

Ash stood up, his knees creaking and cracking a bit, but nothing out of the ordinary for any rather tall guy. " it might help but I don't think either of you really did anything wrong, just like, sensitive nerve endings getting poked "

Damon kept it up. He was glad she was relaxed and not hurting in the moment.

He glanced around, trying his best not to bump into anything, sometimes being tall was not an advantage in places.
Lucy slowly fell asleep against Damon's chest, she would most likely be hungry upon waking but was too tired to not sleep right now.

Eona's small stature was an advantage. She moved through the room with ease. Not wanting to pry, she stayed in the living room.
Damon smiled and settled her into bed. Kissing her forehead, he whispered, "Sleep, love. I'll take care of our guests and make something to eat."
