I searched, but didn't see something like this.

Okay, so I'm a roleplayer. I've been playing for years. So when I saw a Roleplay forum here, I immediately went to check it out.

I'd call myself an intermediate to advanced roleplayer, as the majority of my posts are 2-3 paragraphs. Something I noticed for most of the roleplays in the section was that it ended up being one to two lines per post. I don't mean to upset anyone who plays like that, but I can't bring myself to play with that style of roleplay.

What I am suggesting is a new subforum for the Roleplay section titled Intermediate/Advanced Rolplay, and have a sticky in the forum that tells people that any Roleplays posted there need to be a majority of at least one paragraph length posts.

I think having a new subforum for the more advanced posters would be a good idea as it prevents someone like me for having to look at every individual Roleplay thread to see if it is in the style I like.

Edit~

Instead of just one subforum, I am editing to suggest two, One for Intermediate and one for Advanced.

Both forums would have a sticky rule thread saying that there is a minimum post size limit and if the person doesn't feel they can keep to that minimum, they shouldn't join.

I propose a One 4-6 sentence paragraph minimum for the Intermediate.
I propose a Two 5-6 sentence /or/ Three 3-5 sentence paragraph minimum for the Advanced.

If you need any clarification, please ask. Same with additional suggestions or edits to my suggestion^^

I agree with this. No offense to the RPers on here, but a majority of them remind me of what I did when I first started out, and seeing so many of them with the few other ones buried, I feel kind of sick so don't check out the RP forums much anymore.

And I have joined a few RPs, then when I saw the actual posts, I just gave up on them, which is a shame, since I'm always game for a good RP :<

I agree with this 100%.

It'd be great to see some more lit to advance style roleplay and segregating it from others would be nice, that way you can choose depending on what kind of style you like to post in. (Or if you are just a beginner trying your hand out in roleplays).

I agree 100%. I've always disliked roleplaying on this website because most of the time it is just 1-2 sentences. There's another warrior cat-based roleplay forum site that I go to, and I always post 2-3 paragraphs whenever I roleplay there. This would make it easier to divide the newbies and the advanced roleplayers. The only thing that could go wrong is someone who isn't a semi-lit roleplayer starts a roleplay in the wrong forum and everyone is typing multiple paragraphs while they only do a few sentences. Maybe if there could be some sort of block, so people like that don't go into the semi-lit forum and become overwhelmed by all the paragraphs XD

I agree! So many roleplays here don't even have a plot, so it can be really frustrating having to check each one.

I 100% support this idea ^^

Nothing annoys me more when I'm browsing through the RP forums and find something with a great plot idea, only to find out all the posts are only one liners ;/
Some people like one line posts in RP's, but I'm not one of those people. With having more sections, people will be able to find the sort of RP's they're looking for :D

Bumping this.

I've already supported using the poll, but I'll give a piece of my mind.

You see, I used to RP on this website when I first joined, around 2 years ago, and back then, I type around at least 2 sentences, usually a very long one but sometimes short. But I stopped because the RP may be good, but the other RPers ruined it. They are usually gary-stue/mary-sue. Now, I reply with usually more then 6 sentences and 2 paragraphs, so I want to RP with someone that have the same level as me or at least someone who can do more then 3 lines. I haven't RPed in a while, so I really want to RP on my favorite site, but seeing the RPs on the forum, I backed out from my plan.

This will really helps not just me, but many others users out there who is looking for an RP that will suit their level.

I support.
I see soooo many RPs nowadays with a good plot but in a few days *poof* people lose interest and the RP sinks into the rest of the inactive RPs.
Ah,how I remember the times of old, when RPs usually lasted 65+ Pages before people stopped playing it

About the one linner stuff...
Well you need to think about the fact that there is young person, non native english one and newby in rp. i can't really talk about that cause i don't roleplay in english (and here) but those rps seems fine for me.

No offense, i just said what i think O_O"

Those of us who support this suggestion understand that some people can only do small rps like that. That's why I suggested a separate section for those who prefer the longer posts. Just like some people can't make long posts, some of us who are more advanced have a hard time making short posts.

It is in no way meant to belittle those who want or need easier rp. It's just a way for those who like bigger, more involved rp a place to find it, instead of being forced to search through a forum with the majority of rps being short style ones for that unicorn of a more advanced rp.

Also, how is this simplifying a feature in an unnecessary way? I feel it would be of great benefit if there was a new subforum created, and as someone who has ran many forums in the past, I know all it takes is a quick visit to the admin zone to create a new subforum. :3

Maybe also a subforum that's kinda in between? I don't have a problem with one liners, but what I do have a problem with is incorrect grammar and spelling. Also most of the RPs seem to be done by a bunch of little kids, honestly, judging by how the plots develop (or I guess un-develop in this case). I'd like to do RPs with a solid plot and mature users, but I also want to be able to do one liners since I get writers block incredibly easily and when doing full paragraphs RPing is more of a chore than a hobby.

Something like beginners (which is where majority of the current RPs would go), then something in between, then advanced for those full-paragraph RPers.

While I DO support this...

Two problems, which have already been mentioned I believe. One, there are several young members who quite frankly are not as literal as others. And two, there are people of all languages on Pokeheroes.

Although if this down end up getting turned down, the answer would simply be for everyone to start the trend of putting intermediate or advanced in their title, to let others know what's expected of them. Ya know?

Stitch -

the point of the intermediate or advanced RP forum is that the younger/less skilled users wouldn't join the RPs because they aren't at the level.

---

My problem with RPs is that even if 90% of the participants are advanced, there is always that one user who puts a one line sentence with no grammar that just ruins the entire thing for me.

So full support here!

If you can read this, you know how to read.

Support~

May not be the best RPer around but I can understand wanting a real RP instead of one where all the posts are roughly "player goes to place" "pokemon uses move on opponent" or where every character is the most amazing super character of them all for no reason. Hope the advanced RP area can be made for you all, but be warned you might get watched :P
