You're an experiment on crossing people with animals. The experiments were a success, but the beasts came, destroyed everything, and now you live in the labs you were "created" in. There are other people/animal hybrids in the Labs, so you aren't lonely. The experiment notes called you "Halflings" or something.

(I'll start this.)
Frost was curled up in her room cell thing, trying to sleep. It was almost morning, and she only got a few moments of sleep. She dozed off, but when she opened her eyes, she was there again. The dark, empty space. She was there too. "Whisper." Frost growled a bit, trying to figure out how to move in the dream again. "What are you doing here?" Whisper only smiled, giggling a bit at her anger.
You know why, Frost.
You know I can't leave.
You know that this still needs to be fixed.
All of this still needs to be fixed.
The Humans that are left are still out there.
While you Halflings stay in here, protected.
You said you'd fix this.
Frost shook her head. "We-we can't fix this yet, we still need time to prepare." Zephyr whizzed by Frost head, landing on Whisper's shoulder.
Get prepared.
You know the beasts are still out there.
They could come and attack at any moment.
You don't want all of the Halflings to die, do you?
Then prepare, stop pushing it off.
Frost then woke up with a start, noticing it was morning. She may be right, but we're still not ready, she thought. She got up, realizing that the others would be getting up soon, and she needed to prepare breakfast. She plodded to the area they referred to as a "kitchen", even though it was originally a snack room, and started to hum. She made sure to keep quiet, knowing that she could wake the others up. She then went to making everyone's breakfast, Whisper's words echoing inside her head.
(This seems long, darn you Whisper and your weird talking!)

Amber had been awake for a while and was sitting silently on her bed in her room, dreadfully gloomy as usual. She glanced up for a moment as Frost passed by on her way to the kitchen, then returned her gaze downward and closed her eyes. She wasn't tired, despite barely sleeping at all the previous night- or, for that matter, at all lately.
What is wrong with me?

It doesn't matter if we're in a dream or reality,

Frost had finished with breakfast, and now she needed to wake everyone up. "I hate this part..." she sighed. She poked her head into Amber's room. "Hey. You alright?" She stayed at the doorway, afraid for one of Amber's personality changes. She looked at the walls, looking at every word scrawled on the walls.

(And now it seems short. I can't stay consistent.)

sitting in a dark corner of the lunch room, Raven watched Frost leave, deciding to make something herself. standing up, she tucked her wings in and silently walked over to the kitchen.

yawning, Tanith woke up, with Cheshire on the foot of the bed. climbing out, Tanith shook the lynx awake, stretching.

Amber glanced up, hearing her, and simply nodded in response. She noticed Frost's eyes scanning the walls where things such as pain and Why us?! had been scratched into it. Suddenly, her stomach growled, making her flinch for a moment and blush a bit, embarrassed at being startled by the sound. "I-Is breakfast ready...?" She asked nervously, knowing that Frost usually took care of making them breakfast in the morning.

Frost nodded, giggling a bit at the loud noise. "And it sounds like your plate will be clean when you finish! First, we gotta wake up the others. Then we can eat." She waited a moment for Amber to get up, then walked to the other rooms, telling the people (Halflings?) in them that breakfast was ready. Then, she walked back to the kitchen, ignoring Raven, and grabbing everyone's food. She walked to the dining area, which used to be a meeting room, and put the foods at everyone's spot.

Frost had set all the food down and walked back to the kitchen. She had forgotten to make herself food again. "I always forget to make myself breakfast, but the other's meals come first." She had started to make herself some steak, but Whisper's words echoed in her ears.

You don't want all of the Halflings to die, do you?
Then prepare, stop pushing it off.
She shook her head. It's just a dream, it's just a dream, she thought to herself, but she wasn't really sure. They were always so vivid. It was like Whisper was real. Frost shook her head, knowing that a person couldn't just appear in your dreams every night. But, can they? She almost laughed at this thought, thinking this nightmare was just some weird subconscious thing. It couldn't be real. It couldn't. It can't.

Marie woke up to Frost's call for breakfast. She rubbed her eyes with a soft yawn escaping her mouth. She sat up, but soon laid down again, trying to fall back into her dreams. She faced the wall, acting like she never got up.

"Get up. Time to eat." She walked over to Marie. "I know you're up. Get up." She crossed her arms, almost smiling. She grinned, her sharp teeth showing clearly. "You'd better get up. I'm hungry."

Marie jumped up, her hooves making a clicking sound as she landed on the floor. She apologized, bowed her head slightly in respect.

Frost chuckled. "Ok, go eat. I think my steak is burning." She rushed back to the kitchen, turning the stove off. She took a spatula, tossed the steak, and caught it in her jaws. She quickly ate it and drank some water. She then sat down in her room, picking up an unfinished carving. She looked it over and laughed. "I'm not even sure what I was supposed to make from this." She then started to carve a neck and hole in it. Shrugging, she set it down. "I'll work on that later."

Marie raced off to the dining room, her hooves making soft taps as they hit the floor. She glanced at the others as she passed them, but went to her spot. She picked up the plate and her fork, digging in. She hoped it was vegetarian, and felt a pit in her stomach. She walked to Frost's room, poking her head in. "Does this have meat in it?" She asked Frost, her eyes wide.

Frost narrowed her eyes. "Yes, I made a meal with meat in it for a deer. No, it doesn't have meat in it." She laughed. "You are a bit worrisome, aren't you? Oh, after you eat, head to the gym." The gym was originally a training area to test the Halflings, but they used it mainly to get some exercise in.

Marie sighed in relief and nodded, going back and sitting on her bed to eat. She finished her breakfast and went back to the kitchen, putting her dish in the sink. She went off to the gym, waiting for Frost, but used the dumbbells while she waited.
