Releasing Eggs
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Releasing Eggs1.) Via the lab you are told the egg's rarity, type and even the pokemon but once the egg is transferred to one's party that information seems to vanish from what I have noticed. So how would one be able to tell that it is an unwanted pokemon before hatching? You are constantly at battle with the other players for the egg shown in the lab so how can one tell for sure that this is the egg received, that they hadn't clicked just a moment too late and ended up with another?
2.) Are we not able to box eggs here as the video games allow? If we are than why not simply box an unwanted egg, hatch it later and then trade or release it if desired?
3.) A user mentioned earlier about how the experience here is supposed to be a challenge or that it would be more ideal for it to be and if this is how the creators of the website feel than going by the Anime it would be considered cruel to abandon a helpless egg. Also since this game from what I have seen seems to mimic the video games, eggs can not be released in the video games.
I actually kind of concur with the notion of presenting challenges via concepts such as mistakingly getting the wrong pokemon.
For example, I just hatched a female Pidgey. I prefer a male because I always use the same nickname, that of my first ever Pidgey in the video games and first ever captured pokemon. This was Yellow where pokemon did not have genders but when I traded it as a Pigeot to my Silver it was revealed to be male. The cartridge and all my most treasured pokemon died in 2007 and I simply can not apply the nickname to a female as I use it now as a memorial.
So I'll just have to find/hatch another Pidgey.
Personally if I got everything I wanted from this game right away I'd grow bored of it very quickly.
4.) Is it really that big a deal to hatch a pokemon you may not want? It's only a game after all and as I have stated said unwanted pokemon can simply be traded.
Also as a side note, My arrival may have been very recent but my eggs have not taken an excruciatingly long time to hatch. It helps that I don't sit around the site waiting for them to but please don't mistake me for accusing anyone else of doing so. I only meant to point out my experience.
So I think I am leaning more towards not supporting this, apologies but a good attempt at a useful suggestion nonetheless.
2) Nope, otherwise this would be pretty useless (Not completely, but mostly).
3) Being able to release an egg after a couple of hours would not make this site easier. Actually, this site is very different from the games. Shelmet and Karrablast evolve in different ways and so a lot of other Pokemon. That's just an example, of course. I don't see the significance of the Pidgey story. You'd be lucky to have gotten everything you want from this game easily. Not everybody is that lucky. I want an Articuno and Moltres, but that hasn't happened, so far. Also, it's not cruel, because they'll just be sent to the Tall Grass where other users can obtain them (in my version, at least).
4) Yes. Shiny hunts. If you hatch a different egg. It'll break your chain.
1) While shiny hunting, I still look at the lab and gem collector occasionally, currently to check on my dex progress and to watch and note when the deliveries of Kalos eggs are. My computer freezes occasionally, and I don't want to go to either of those pages to find I'd accidentally taken an egg that will break my chain.
2) The option would allow for partially leveled up eggs to be found in the tall grass. If a user waits six hours, and then releases the egg, there will be some EHP on the egg, guaranteed. This would be a pleasant surprise to shiny hunters, because some eggs will be part way to hatching, making the job funner and easier.
Note: My computer is actually so slow that all I generally see in the lab is the egg's type, and I can't check the rarity until after I adopt it. Just a note to Raichu, some people can't get all that information with their computers. And some may choose to release the unwanted easy pokemon.
If you can read this, you know how to read.

This would mostly help out for high EHP eggs like the 10k EHP and 30k EHP. It would also help save someone from breaking their chain from an accidental lab or wrong daycare egg.
Gress: I remember Riako saying something about a Special Egg Chip a while back, but if not, I guess nothing? Not sure. Or maybe not having the ability to release those.
Mojoryan: That makes no sense. If people wanted to do that badly, they could just click a lot to hatch the egg. I don't see how that's a way of abusing it...
