Next year I am going to be doing a big walk to raise money and awareness for victims of human trafficking (modern day slavery). There will be a lot of publicity around this event, and to be honest I don't really want to be the face of it, I'm more of a behind-the-scenes sort of person. So I need something else, something like... a mascot!
Design a mascot for my event. This contest is not about quality of art, it is about quality of design. You need to give it a name, describe its personality and appearance and provide an artwork of the design.
The winner will receive:
- 500 nuggets
- 100,000 pd
- 2,500 dp worth of plushies
- 1 Gracidea
- A shiny Pinsir
- A shiny Ponyta (donated by Eeveelution8)
- More prizes may be added at a later point.
- It can be human, animal or whatever, it's completely up to you.
- Your entry is more likely to win if it is cute and like-able.
- The name of the event is 'One Walk NZ', try and incorporate this somehow into your design.
- The walk will be done in New Zealand, so try to include something kiwi in your design. For example, native wildlife or Maori designs.
- If you use any Maori patterns, such as koru and tiki, please do your research and find out what the symbols mean before using them. Maori symbols are considered taonga (precious or sacred) and need to be treated and used with respect.
- The more details and references you can give me, the better.
- I am not looking at the quality of the art. You can be a terrible artist and still win if the design is good.
- All PH rules apply, so be nice and no spam.
- NO ART THEFT IS TOLERATED! AT ALL! Do not take other peoples work and claim it as your own. Do not take other peoples work and alter it then claim it as your own. Do not trace other peoples work and claim it as your own.
- You may use other art and photo's for reference, as long as you give credit (even when they say you don't need to).
- Use the form and post all entries here, do not PM them to me.
- You may enter as many times as you like, but each entry must have it's own form.
- The deadline is November 14th, 23:59 server time.
- By entering this contest you are giving me permission to use your design to make other artworks. Please see the next section.
- First off, I will make it clear that all credit for design will go to you. I will be using your design to make artwork of the mascot to help advertise for the event on other websites, posters, etc. Design credit will be given wherever the images are used.
- I will also be making the mascot into a soft-toy that will travel with me during the walk and be photographed at various points. At the end of the walk the soft-toy will be auctioned off with all proceeds going directly to the charity. A tag will be sewn onto the toy with design credit included on it.
- When you enter this contest, you are agreeing to these points. If you don't agree, then don't enter.

Also, if you are planning on entering this, could you let me know? Just so I know that people are actually interested in this, and I'm not wasting my time or anything...

Mascot Name: Kizi
Mascot Appearance: This little gal had to be redesigned so many times that I'm super happy with the result, even though it's not that good. :'-) The signs used on her are Papahu, Pikorua, and Koru. (It explains freedom in a way. .3.)
Mascot Personality: Always bright and optimistic, Kizi never lets life's problems bother her. She likes seeing people happy and will do anything to support good causes.

Mascot Name: Zeo
Mascot Appearance: A white rabbit with brown ears that are green inside. A grey mark over one eye and a brown mark over the other eye. 1 Walk marked in blue on his back that can optionally be a tee-shirt instead. Blue, white, and red eyes. A tag in his left ear that has a Kiwi bird on it. A silver shackle on his right front paw. Pink pads on his feet.
Mascot Personality: A bit shy, Zeo has decided to put his best paw forward and venture out of his comfort zone. His voice is quiet, but his heart is strong, and so he swallows his doubts and fears to stand before others as a leader. No leader is ever sure of themselves, but they are sure of their cause and he really wants things to change.

By entering this contest you are giving me permission to use your design to make other artworks. Do you understand this? Of course. However, if he's not used for this cause, I'd like to make a few design changes and keep him as a character.
He's not very complicated, but I figured a more simple design would be better since you're planning on having the winning design made into a soft toy. (More complicated designs tend to be less structurally sound, take more time to do, and cost more.)
I'll try to do a few more images of him, or at the very least clean up the simple refsheet so it's more than just a colored sketch orz
I just wanted to go ahead and enter the idea that jumped into my head while reading everything so that there's at least something entered =3

You are more than welcome to use him as your own character, after all he is your creation. And yes, a simple design is good for this kind of thing.
