Mascot Name: Manaia (Maori name meaning "Guardian")
Mascot Appearance: A green Gecko with light green markings and text saying 'one walk New Zealand'
Mascot Personality: Very happy and friendly, she likes meeting new people, but she talks very fast and often interrupts.

Mascot Name: Oscar the Tuatara
Mascot Appearance: Oscar is an olive green looking lizard native to New Zealand, a Tuatara. While his spines are a more pale green, he has blue eyes to complete his cute looks. He sports his favorite yellow shirt with a Papahu symbol on it in a lilac purple color. While he carries and normally wears his Triple Twist Maori necklace, Oscar seems to be full of spirit.
Mascot Personality: By the looks of him, Oscar seems very free spirited, and he is. He is rather peaceful and stands for what he cares about. Even though his species is endangered due to the possible Kiore threats, he refuses to bow down and let them conquer him. He is optimistic and always looks for the light in every darkness that comes his way.

Mascot Name: Demi
Mascot Appearance: Demi is a short-haired purple cat. She is half transparent with a rainbow splotch around her eye. She has icy blue eyes, and her fur is half transparent. Every marking on her has a meaning. Her half-transparent fur represents the spirits of those lost to slavery (died of brutally being beat, injured in working, etc). Her nose is a died-blood color to represent the beatings, that slaves have had to go through. Her icy blue eyes represents the cold, and emptiness of slaves, torn from their families. However her rainbow spot around her eye, is represented by the hope that this walk will bring. Demi has a wide smile, and wears a purple "one Walk NZ' T shirt.
Mascot Personality: She is kind to everyone she comes across, and almost always to cheerfully smiling. She Hopes to spread hope to the faces of others, and tries to help anyone in need. when she is doing a big or small job she will always do it with a smile on her face.

Mascot Name:Baku
Mascot Appearance: He is a Crimson colored wolf. The red strokes on his fur represent the blood streaks of the beatings, or hard work. His heart pendant represents the beating heart of a loving and caring person. His tail has the words "One Walk NZ" painted on his tail

Mascot Name: Rise (because phoenix's rise from the ashes when they regenerate)
Mascot Appearance: Flaming orange, red and yellow phoenix. Large majestic bird.
Mascot Personality: It is proud and strong and free. It helps others even if it means it puts it's own life in danger because phoenix's never really die, they just regenerate

I think a phoenix would be a good mascot because:
1- birds represent freedom.
2- phoenix's are strong and never die, only regenerate. They represent strength.
3- I think a phoenix would be a good mascot for victims of human trafficking because once they are free, they can rise from the ashes like a phoenix and live new lives.

Mascot Name: Gabriel
Mascot Appearance: Brown and semi-fluffy. Wears a necklace with the Koru spiral [representing the new beginnings of this journey, and the new stage of your life], and a jean jacket. (Optional: on the back of the jacket is the Maori dolphin [for protection, since I want you to be safe])
Mascot Personality: Gabriel is a sweetie, who cares strongly for the environment. He is cool, and liked by all his friends, and wears the "tough guy" jacket just for cool effect. He likes to point out that even cool people can care.

Thank you so much to everyone who entered. It was obvious that everyone put a lot of thought into their character design and I really appreciate all the effort people have put into this.
