"W-what just happened??" Hulk didn't knew for sure what was really happening. He looked at Denver and he looked as surprised as he was! Let's see where this is going... he thought. Hulk and Denver just followed the cat next to Flare.

The cat smiled once more, and turned tail and ran. Her paws turned to a blur, she jumped up a tree, hit another one's trunk to propel herself, and at the end, she arrived at a beautiful crystal pool. She laughed to see everyone panting except for the Manectric, whose Pokemon is specially adapted for speed.
There were water lilies drifting on the surface of the pond and small minnows darted up to tap the water's surface, then back down. Sleepy sunlight filtered through the leaves of a tall oak, which shaded the whole area. Soft and springy grass was underfoot.
The cat's face split into a grin. "You like it?"

Dalia woke up lying on the ground, and slowly hauled herself up. "Flare?" Dalia shouted. She then smelled (Yes, giraffes can sniff out like dogs in this world :/) Flare's fox-like scent, and followed the trail. It wound down to a crystal clear pool, in a beautiful outcrop. "Wow!" Dalia breathed in."I-i-it's amazing!" Dalia shouted with glee.

Flare was for once impressed with the scene going on around her, despite her exhaustion. "It's beautiful..." She said, a bit of surprise showing in her tone. She noticed Dalia come up and looked to the pool, lightly wishing she could be a water type if this was the sort of beauty they lived in and created. "What is this place, though?"

The big cat smiled warmly, yet softly, very unlike her personality. "This is Hawthonrn's Hollow. This whole place used to be a desert. But then, a blessing occurred, which we call The Change." The words rang with a power and strength no one could top. "In that time period, an meteor hit us off our course, knocking us away from the sun and we collided with our moon, which was completely made out of ice. The ice melted on the hot surface of the planet, but cooled it as well. What you are looking at, is where the meteorite pocket-marked our world."

Denver touched his nose gently to the surface of the pond, creating small ripples that seemed to intrigue the curious minnows that dwelled near the edge where they stood. "Impressive," he breathed after listening to the feline--and he truly meant that, for as old as his travels had made him he had never come across a place as beautiful as this. For the first time since being transported, he figured it was both a blessing and a curse.

She dipped her head. "Indeed." Casually, she stood up and wound her way through the peaceful Pokemon. "You know... if you want... you can stay here." Nearby, a falcon screeched.

As pleasing as it all looked, Flare was still motivated to get on with their quest. "It is beautiful, but I wanna stay focused. Have you seen a kind of clue around here?" She asked the cat.

The cat's breath caught as she heard FurryWand's answer. Her heart hardened a little and she swept her gaze across the other pokemon, ignoring the Braixen's question. "Does anyone want to stay here?"

Denver inclined his head curiously in her direction. "Are there no other of your kind?" he asked. He wasn't sure why, but he felt like the cat wasn't trying to be malicious and intentionally interfere with their quest. Rather, he sensed a feeling of loneliness that he himself had experienced many times in the past when he had been exiled from his pack.

The big cat took a deep breath. "...No." She looked away, a tear spilling down the side of her cheek. "M-my kind... all died, in the Change." The previous facade of wonder she held for the event slipped and she collapsed on herself, crying silently. "The only one I have is Hempha." A falcon cawed and came to rest on the graceful cat's back. "Unless you count Jaglar, which those two ran into." She lifted a paw at Flare and Dalia. "Kind man. But he has a duty, as do I."

Her eyes, magnified by tears, were huge and yellow as she gazed sorrowfully into the other pokemon's. "I am the guardian of the Hidden Lake."

Flare felt a sting of guilt for the poor cat, followed by the thought that she couldn't fight this one, yet she knew that like them, she had a job to do. "I'm not surprised you're the guardian. You must be a tough challenge to beat." She remarked. "But... then we're gonna have to face the challenge, right?"

Denver laid tentatively beside the big cat. He was typically a loner, but his feelings of empathy far outweighed his desire to be on his own. Still as soft as when you were pack leader, he thought to himself. "I know it's tough," he began, searching for the right words, "but just as you have a duty, we too were sent here for a reason." A thought flashed in his mind. "Can you not journey with us?"

Slowly, the big cat looked up to meet Denver's eyes. "I... I..."
Suddenly, tendrils of black snaked from behind the big cat, plunging into her body. With a rough and echoing masculine voice, she laughed, "Foolsss... You journey to find me... and her... but you will fail!" The big cat's eyes glowed white, and her tongue lolled out of her mouth. "Jay has failed me! But I will not give up..." With a hiss, Jay launched herself at the other pokemon.

As she caught Denver's eye, the voice in her head quieted. She collapsed on the ground, writhing, and manged to spit out, "G...go... the waterfall is across the pond..." With a sigh, she fell to the ground, knocked out.
