"Yes." She answered, ignoring Glaurug's flinch. "Glaurug, this is Didact. You might recognize him as a Forerunner."
"I do." Glaurug replied. "I thought the faith fell out after the war."
"It did." Sliuril reassured him. "Didact is tagging along for now, not directly serving Copper."
Draugnur snorted. "Those were hardly dragons. Pale imitations of our race. Come to this land without the other two, and I'll show you my race. In the meantime, I leave you be. Daughter, tell Sliuril I expect her to be gone in thirty six hours."
"Yes, faither."

"Thank you. I'm sure I'll avail your offer." Jack nodded, standing up a bit straighter as the last of the discs in his spine slipped back into place.

Daugnur nodded cordially, before taking off with a gust of wind. Faith used one wing to shield her face from the brunt of the wind, watching as a portal swallowed him.
"Well, that was that. I don't sense Cortana here, so I suppose we'll have to look for her somewhere else."

Didact was more or less done looking through the temple and decided to head back to the Cryptum, where he could let Beowulf sift through the data.

"Can you locate her?" Glaurug asked.
"Of course." Copper answered, pulling up a tab showing a single blinking red dot on it. "This is my chassis she stole. I'm more than capable of tracking them all."
"Is that... Blood Gluch?" Glaurug asked, squinting his eyes. "What could possibly be there?"
"We'll have to go and see." Copper replied. "Let's go meet up with the others."

"True enough." Jack nodded, picking his way through the debris of the battle. Eventually, he stepped into the Temple and nodded to Glaurug. "Good to have you back." With that, he turned to Copper. "Do we have a plan?" He asked.
With a sigh, Didact settled back into a command seat and tried to process the day's events. They had certainly moved very quickly. The Forerunner reached the conclusion that he more or less trusted the group. On that count, he could leave them be. However, there was something bigger going on and now he felt a need to see it through to the end.

"This is Blood Gulch. We believe there may be something important hidden within the valley, because Cortana's current location is here. It's likely that she'll be gone by the time that we get there, but we ought to check nonetheless." Copper explained. "Whatever it is, it managed to elude my attention for quite a while, so I believe it must be Concord's work." She paused. "He's still in charge, yes?"
"For now." Sliuil answered. "I don't think we'd receive a particularly warm welcome if we went there, but let's go."

Didact brought the Cryptum's systems online so that it would be ready to fly in an instant and them stepped off the ship to wait for the others.

Blood Gulch
The Balvron grinned, showing off rows and rows of yellow teeth, freshly stained with blood. His fur was wet, drenched with the crimson liquid.
"Good job, boy." Cortana grinned, watching the blood being shed from a SPARTAN beneath her.
Blood Gulch. That was where her parents had hidden the Key - and their faith in Concord's defenses had now proved their undoing. Sooner or later, the small outpost would fall to the combined might of the Balvarines and her remaining constructs.

"A place called Blood Gulch." Jack replied. "Do you know of it?"
Didact shrugged. "Beowulf?" He asked.
"I do now." The AI responded. "I can get us there in a few hours." He hissed.

Sliuril winced. "I believe so, yes." She replied. "I would have to ask Naomi to be sure. But she's currently in the Godsphere, and I wouldn't pull her back."
"A few hours?" Copper repeated, furrowing her brows. It would have to do, she supposed. "Alright."

"Please, I can only make the prison-ship go so fast." Beowulf told Copper as the ship gently lifted off.
"'Those other SPARTANs'?" Didact asked. "Do I want to know? I mean, I can infer a bit from him over there." He gestured to Jack.

"They're cute!" Copper complained, knowing Sliuril was talking about the Balvarines.
"I thought you turned into one."

"A guy with a Z-110 Directed Energy Pistol thinking he can defeat someone with a Z-390 High Explosive Munitions Rifle." The Forerunner shrugged.
"No, no. Cute is like..."
"Having less than a hundred petabytes of storage?" Beowulf suggested. "Walking into the Darkwoods at night and expecting to come out the other side?"
"You're all mad." Jack concluded.

"Sliuril, that definition would apply to me." Faith pointed out.
"You're hardly a pet, are you?"
"She has a point. Cute is like being less than six cycles old, and thinking you can get to Third Tier without some kind of divine intervention." Copper offered. "Also, the Balvarines are cute."
"You said that about Atriox, Copper, and I think we all remember how mother and father reacted to him."
Copper pouted. "You all just don't appreciate the time it took me to create sentient lifeforms in a synthesized manner. I swear, all of you are just way too content with sitting back and observing whatever develops."

Suddenly, a hologram of a Balvarine appesred, Beowulf's avatar next to it, head tilted in thought. "Don't know." The AI hissed. "I'd cuddle it."
"That's disturbing." Jack replied, nodding as if he'd just confirmed a suspicion. Didact studied the figure. "A pat in passing, perhaps, but that's it."
"Still not okay." The Jack said, shaking his head rapidly.

Sliuril shook her head. "ETA, Beowulf?"
Cortana scowled, studying the graphs around her. She still had no idea where the key was located, only that it was in Blood Gulch. The base was already more or less destroyed - the Balvarines had wisely left the command unit relatively clean and intact. She couldn't say the same for the rest of the base. The lives lost here were a pity, but it was a necessary sacrifice. Soon, she would usher in a new world order, one where humanity would be at its core.

"By the Eldar, how slow is this thing?" Jack muttered, sitting down in the floor, back against a wall.
"It's a prison. It wasn't made for speed." Beowulf told him.
"Oh?" The demon asked, looking around at the interior of the ship. "What're you in for?"
"Protecting my species." Didact put in.
"Hmm. Tough jury?"
"You could say that."

"I thought you knew?" Sliuril asked, raising an eyebrow. "Didn't you design this thing?"
"Ugh. First off, this has been modified. Second off, yes, this was always meant as a sort of solitary confinement unit. Sort of."
"Sort of?" Faith chimed in.
"Well, I needed something to lock up the other Guardians." Copper shrugged. "This was going to be that."
"A weapons-enabled ship?"
"Like I said, modified design."
