The combined energy of Gardevoir's Hyper Voice and Rayquaza's Hyper Beam caused the Protect to shatter, and Alakazam was struck almost by the full force of both moves.

Rayquaza roared once more, and thanks to Gastro Acid, the storm that ravaged the sky became far more powerful, with lightning shooting everywhere and rain pouring down faster than Gardevoir had ever seen. Gardevoir used Protect to surround himself, and began to charge a Hyper Voice attack while the Protect shielded him from the rain. Serperior, get down from Rayquaza!! he told her.

Fern sighed, and let go of Rayquaza. She dropped to the ground, and hissed

(Might i ask just how the storm got worse because of Gastro Acid, which is supposed to disable the targets ability? :/)

(Air Lock weakens the storm. You disabled it. As a result, Air Lock is no longer weakening the storm. Why did you expect Air Lock ceasing to weaken the storm to make said storm weaker? XD)

Rayquaza roared and began to charge a Hyper Beam, but it was too late. Gardevoir had used Hyper Voice, forcing him to let down his own Protect, and Rayquaza was immediately sent flying backwards, critically wounded and unable to finish using Hyper Beam. Unable to battle, Rayquaza flew into the distance to recover.
