Quill looked at Skye like T-T and said "Mmmhm. Haven't you seen the predators?" Murphy flew unto Skye's shoulders, afraid. Quill took a step back, just incase.

'Do not be afraid. I will not harm you. Or to be precise, not yet.' Galadriel reassured Quill. 'Though Skye, of course, speaks the truth.' Galadriel said, amused. 'Appearances, after all, are deceiving.

"You don't need to be afraid. Last time we were here, I had a shouting match with her-Skye pointed to Galadriel "And we didn't get any trouble. Mind you, it was mostly me shouting. She was just staring at me like I was crazy."

The Didact sighed and reached into his pack. Space rations, weapons and my digital all purpose pad. he thought. He stuffed them back in. "What year is it?" He asked, off-hand. He knew that a long time in FTL travel could reverse time.

"2007 or 2008, I think. Those of us who are alive stopped counting days and celebrating holidays, so I don't really know." Skye answered. "Why would you- Oh, right, nevermind. I just don't often see many new 'other forces' around here. There are, after all, few and far between who still live today."

The Didact's eyes widened. "Ohhhhh..... crap...." He whispered. It had been the year 3546 when he had left. He took ou this pad and contacted the Elders. "Shadow of Sundered Star! Where are you?" The High Elder shouted. "Earth."
"When are you?"
"2008."
The Elder widened his eyes. "When was the mission appointed?"
"3546."
The Elder sighed. "Immediate recall." He said. "Not enough resources." The Didact replied. "As soon as you hVe them..."
"Understood." The Didact severed the link.

"Unless your resources consist a hundred percent of metal, concrete and perhaps air, I doubt you will be getting home from here." Galadriel advised. "I should know. tried it once using a long distance teleport spell, and the result almost ended in genocide for the remaining humans."

(I'm assuming Didact's gun's battery is not infinite?)

(The energy needs to recollect after a number of uses. It gets the energy from it's surroundings.)
"So I'm stuck." He said. "Great." He rubbed his eyes and looked up. "Darkness falls. Shouldn't you find shelter?" He asked everyone. He took out his pad and flicked through it. "Shadow of Mantle?" He asked. "Ur-Didact?" Asked the Forerunner on the other end. "Cousin, I shall need you to assume role as Commander in my absence." He said. Then he severed the link.

Galadriel paced around the place, placing down numerous spells and wards to prevent an attack from the Predator. Skye flew up and began scouting the area, looking for any sign of predators.

Galadriel knelt on the ground, touching it and murmuring things in Elvish. It was a simple alarm spell. If any Predator came within s hundred meters from the plaza, she would be notified immediately. Next came a shield spell designed specifically for physical force. And finally, a cloaking spell to hide the massive ball of white.

She went back to where Didact and Quill was.

"Elvish?" He asked. "I thought the Elves died out at about the same time as the Forerunners." He said. He kept looking through his pad. He hesitated over one icon and clicked it. A projection appeared in the air. It showed rolling green hills bordered by steep mountains. In the distance, a vast sea. "The core of Requiem." He explained. "It was a good location for vacations. Temeprature is just right." It flicked to another picture. This one showed barren mountains. There was a large vehicle there, moving past the frame. "The tertiary layer. Defensive, mainly. Three large energy guns. This is where the gravity well is located. Countless ships have been drawn into Requiem by it." Before it could flick to the next, he said something in his own language and the feed terminated.

"You have an interesting device. But you are wrong. The Elves have flourished for eons. Or, at least, in my world they have. We Elves were immortal, and immune to disease. But we can still die, from physical wounds and also from wasting away, losing all will to live. Most of the Elves live in the Undying Lands, land of the Valar. Alas, I know not of those of my kin who remained behind in Middle Earth." Galadriel said, more to herself than anything else.

"Hmm. Forerunners were less fortunate. The first Forerunner to land on Earth advanced the Earth's technology severly. The humans were power hungry and fought us. Despite our technology, we numbered few. They outmanned us, hundred to one. I had to use the Cryptum. It turned the humans into Prometheans. Mindless, animalistic robots. Loyal to the Forerunners, but I despise them. Matters were not helped by a parasite, the Flood. It chose a host and controlled them. Flood infected things were in every way superior to humans apart from intellect. We managed to destroy them or banish them to distant, uninhabited planets. We withdrew to Requiem and other Sheild Worlds." He said. "This was in about 300,000 BC by the human calender. We had to erase so many memories of the surviving humans." He paused for breath. "Amazing, really. I can't see how the Elders forgave them. How they forgave us. How they forgave me. I glassed three continents which had to be adequately replaced. I destroyed the majority of the human race. And yet, here I am. Commander of an army and one of the Honoured." He blinked. "I do not need sleep. I shall patrol the perimeter." He got up and set off towards the edge of the sheild that Galadriel had set up.

Galadriel said nothing. Instead, she contacted Skye.
'How are things going? No, wait, do not mind that. You can rest now, Didact just generously offered to take first watch. I assume you are going to ask me more about things in Middle Earth?' Galadriel didn't wait for a response from the Mutant. That was, until Skye softly landed behind her.

"Is it wise to trust him?" Skye asked Galadriel.

'Yes, I suppose so. Now, you should stop worrying. Didact can be a bit ah... passive aggressive at times, but I do not doubt his word.'
"Must be nice being able to read minds." Skye said, looking at the moon. It was a particularly beautiful full moon that night.
'Skye, if your calendar is anything like mine, then I suspect winter will soon be upon us.'
"No, I doubt that. We're in a tropical region, as far as I know. And we don't have snow in tropical regions." Skye answered, shaking her head.
'You should sleep, Skye. I shall take watch with Didact.' Galadriel replied, as she drugged Skye with a sleeping spell.

(As to your earlier question, yes, 3 feet is roughly 1 meter.)

The Didact was making a call while keeping his eyes on the perimeter. "Iso- Didact?" He asked . "Yes?" Came the voice on the other end. The Didact kept moving, keeping his eyes on the perimeter. The Approach was scanning large areas at a time to detect any threats. "I need you to delay Uda- Dedox by all means."
"Yes, Commander."
"Shadow of Mantle has temporarily assumed my role."
He terminated the link. He turned on his Promethean Vision and scanned the area. Nothing. He moved on.

"Who is it you are calling?" Galadriel asked Didact as she approached him, silent and unknown. Her previously pristine white gown was now in need of a wash, and her hair was messier than it had ever been, but she still gave off a mysterious and soft glow in the moonlight, just like when she had been a ring-bearer. "Do not lie, Didact. I am more perceptive than I look."

The Didact glanced at her. "Iso Didact, the general. I've given him orders to delay Uda- Dedox on his approach towards the Mantle. Why I have done so, I do not have to share." He said. Something rustled in the leaves. The Didact enabled his Active Camoflague. He seemed to melt away apart from a slight glimmer if you looked closely. He enabled his Promethean Vision. Then he disabled both armor abilities. "Nothing." He reported. He moved on. The conversation was clearly over.

'He is like Feanor, alright...' Galadriel thought to herself, as she went back to where Skye had been talking with her. Galadriel softly murmured a protection spell on Didact. She had sensed something dark approaching on the horizon, something large, powerful, and it would cause pain for many. Galadriel murmured a different phrase, as a soft white glow ensnared both Skye and Quill, before it faded. The glow that surrounded Skye went into her wings, while Quill's went into his chest.

'Rest now, for a dangerous path is ahead of us... And I fear I am dying... I hope you all will forgive me when time comes... Especially you, Skye...' Galadriel thought, as she strode back to keep watch.

Quill was cleaning his goggles. Nothing that Didact and Galadriel were talking about did not concern him, Murphy began to rub his head affectionaly at Quills legs. Quill picked up Murphy and set him down on the table. He grabbed a rubber ball from his bag and threw it against the wall, bouncing it back to himself for several minutes. Murphy decided to take a nap.

(Murphy, the fruit bat, Is about the size of a ordinary tabby cat, so He acts like one.)

The Didact was checking his Boltshot when he got a call on his pad. "Accept call." He said. "Ahh, look who it is." Said the face of Uda- Dedox, twisted with hatred. "Cursed One." Whispered The Didact. "Why do you call?" He asked. "Well, I have heartbreaking news for you. Your brother died tonight of... natural causes. Well, you don't get more natural than being thrown into the mouth of a carnivorous plant." He laughed. The Didact frowned. "We'll meet, Cursed One. And when we do, may the Hierachs lend me strength to rip your muscles from your bones."
"Oh we'll meet." He growled. "And I will kill you. Terminate connection." He said. The Didact looked at the pad. "AAAHHH!" He roared. He threw away the pad and fell to his knees. "I will kill you." He whispered. "As long as the blood of the ancients flows through me and the force of the Elders urges me, I... will... KILL YOU!" He shouted the vow into the night sky. By saying those words, he had bound himself to the task. If he now did not kill Uda- Dedox on the first chance he got, he himself would die. He got up. Checked each if his weapons. Moved on.

'What happened!?' Galadriel demanded, not even bothering to use her voice. She was better off with her mind, anyway. She teleported to where Didact was, a frown on her face. "What. Happened." She said once more, tempted to just invade Didact's mind.

The Didact stopped but didn't turn around. "Do not test my patience, Elf." He growled, slightly turning his head. He picked up his pad, stashed it away and holstered his Boltshot. "Ever since I have arrived on this planet, nothing has served to calm me. Now, news comes from Requiem of my brother's death at the hands of the Cursed One." He stopped. "Unto Death." He whispered to himself.
