Name: Evangelina (Lina) Lightwood
Age: 18 years old
Appearance: Sorry, I have to piece her together. I couldn't find the image I wanted!
But she has long dark brown hair in curls

Her nurses uniform

More everyday wear

Division (North or South): North
Hometown: Detroit, Michigan, but she and her parents moved to Perryville, Kentucky when the war broke out.
Occupation: She is a very skilled nurse working in the battle fields. She doesn't care which side of the silly war the men she helps are on. She only wants to free the slaves and take care of those who are injured. However, tending to both sides could be incredibly dangerous. Her father is a high ranking general and if any of the confederate men recognize her, they could very well kidnap her.
Personality: Warm and gentle. She tries to be the meek, unassuming woman she knows her parents want her to be, but she has quite the defiant streak in her.
History: After moving to Perryville, Kentucky, her parents forbade her from joining the nurses. They told her it would be too dangerous. Evangelina tried to obey her parents, but the death toll kept raising. With her best friend's help, a former slave named Serafina, Evangelina is able to sneak out of the mansion at least once a week to help save as many souls as she can.
Other: She is very beautiful but doesn't believe she is.

(You are accepted already. :3 Oh! But I see what you mean. :) The image is beautiful, though.)

Before the civil war broke out, ~~

In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Cassius walks home from his shooting area along with his father, LtCdr. Eustace Madison, carrying his gun that father gave him as his present on his 18th birthday. Cassius opens the door.

"I'm home, Mom," said Cassius. Her mom, Cassidy, came closer to his son.

"Cassius, how's your shooting practice?"

"Mom, I only hit 16 out of 20. I think I should practice a little bit more to increase my accuracy on shooting. That way, I should protect Louisiana," said Cassius.

"Don't worry about it, Cassius. You are the most accurate soldier in Baton Rouge, remember?," said Cassius's mom.

"Yeah, but I think I should my accuracy should be perfect."

"Don't worry, hon. Nobody's perfect, remember? But I think practice makes perfect. So you should practice more and more to increase your accuracy, okay, hon?," said Cassius's mom.

"Okay, mom."

Then, Cassius's father enters the house.

"Hello, hon?," said Eustace.

Cassidy hugs his husband.

"I think Cassius needs a lot more practice about his accuracy, he needs to be perfect," said Eustace.

"Hon, don't worry about it. Nobody's perfect, remember. So you have to be fine for that," said Cassidy.

"I hope so, hon," said Eustace.

Cassidy stops his husband from hugging.

"Whew! I think my two favorite soldiers are tired of shooting practice today, how about a dinner, okay, hon?" said Cassidy.

"Okay, mom," said Cassius. "Okay, hon," said Eustace.

Then, they went to the table and sit down for their dinner.

(thank you!)
Evangelina sat still, only speaking when spoken to. She hated it! All of these silly old people talking about the weather. Like that mattered! She couldn't wait until after the party was over.
She looked at her best friend, Sera, and smiled.
'Only two more hours,' she mouthed, rolling her eyes. She pulled out her fan and hid a yawn behind it.
"Evangelina, you'll never get suitors if you keep that up," Her mother scolded her behind her own fan.
"Sorry, mama. I must not have slept well last night," Evangelina said, curtsying to a lady who was waving at her.
Mrs. Lovelace looked her daughter over. "You aren't doing anything dangerous, are you?"
"Who? Me?" Evangelina laughed, "No, mama, I wouldn't dream of it. Only practicing piano and my embroidery."

A few hours later the party finally ended and everyone had left. Her mother and father had gone to bed and she was in her room.
"Sera!" She called through the hidden door between there rooms. "Can you help me?"
She turned and Sera helped her out of the evening ball gown.
"Thanks!" Evangelina told her, pulling on her nurses uniform. Then she helped Serafina out of her dress.
"Alright, I'm heading out!" Evangelina grinned, climbing down the vines outside her window.
"Be careful, Lina!" Sera called.
"I always am! I'll be back before dawn!" Evangelina called, running to the barn to get her mare.

After Cassius's family ate dinner, Cassius felt tired after the shooting practice.

"Mom, Dad. I think I should get back to bed now." Cassius yawns. "I'm tired"

"Okay, hon. Good night," said Cassidy.

"Sleep tight, don't let the the bugs bite," said Eustace.

Cassius just chuckled.

"Okay, Mom, Dad. But first, I should drink water, first. I'm thirsty. And," Cassius smells himself. "Phew! I should take a bath now," said Cassius.

"Okay, hon," said Cassidy.

After Cassius drink mineral water, Cassius went to the bathroom and takes off his clothes to bathe.

"So, hon, who will take care of this dishes," said Eustace.

"I know who," said Cassidy. "Jane!" Cassidy shouted their maid. "Please wash this dishes, okay, Jane," said Cassidy.

"Y-Yes, ma'am," said Jane.

After that, Jane washes the dishes, while Cassius bathe.

Evangelina rode out on her horse into the night. She left her hair stream out behind her, laughing like a little girl at the freedom it brought her. A few minutes later she arrived at the makeshift hospital. After reporting for duty, she went to check on her confederate patients. No one else tended to them. The only reason the doctors let her do it was because they could trade these men to get our own boys home.
"Lina!" One of the other nurses called. "Still tending to those traitors?"
"Hush now," Evangelina scolded, "They are human, just like you and me. Their judgment is just different then ours."
She carried her medical bag over to her first patient of the night.
"Hey, James, how are you feeling tonight?" She asked, checking the teenager's vitals.
"I'm okay," the boy told her, "Just really sore."
"Well, that's what happens when you take a musket to the shoulder," She told him, gently cleaning the wound.
The night progressed in a repetitive manner. She made her rounds, check on all of her patients and then some.
"Lina! Isn't it a little late?" James called.
She looked outside and saw the first hint of dawn spreading in the east and jumped.
"Thanks James!" she called, running out the door. She made it back home and into her bed just as her mother opened the door.
"Morning, honey," her mother called.

After Cassius bathe, he rubbed his body using his towel. Cassius called her maid, "Jane!" Jane is done washing her dishes, then Jane went to the bathroom door.

"What is it, Sir?" questioned Jane.

"Please get me something to wear," said Cassius.

"Yes, sir," said Jane. Jane went to his closet.

"Just something to wear only this night, Jane," said Cassius.

"Yes, sir," said Jane. After that, Jane gets his clothes on, and knocks on the door. "Sir, here's your clothes."

Cassius opened the bathroom door, and gets his clothes Jane holding. Then Cassius closed the door.

Cassius opens the door. "Oh, I almost forgot, thanks." Then Cassius closes the door.

"Jane, you can come out of my room now."

Then, Jane left the room and Cassius is finely wear his home clothes. Then, he sits down on his desk, gets his journal, quilt and ink and writes something, before he sleeps.

April 9, 1861,

Today, I practiced my shooting skills in East Feliciana, Louisiana, near at my hometown, today I have no luck perfecting my shooting skills and I only got 16 out of 20. I need to practice, more and more to become a great soldier and promote me to a higher rank, like my father. Okay, that's all for today.

Then, Cassius rushed on the bed and then, Cassius slept.

"Morning, Mama!" Evangelina greeted her mother. "I didn't sleep well at all. Do you mind if I sleep in? I think I'm coming down with a cold."
She sneezed lightly to fend off her mothers questions.
"Of course, dear. I'll check in on you later," She told her daughter and left the room.
The hidden door opened and Sera stormed in.
"Lina! That was too close!" She whispered, furious.
"Sorry, Sera," Evangelina sighed, "There are just too many...Thank you for helping me. I couldn't help them without you!" She hugged her friend.
"I know," Sera told her smugly. "Now, get some sleep. I'll stall them for as long as I can. But I'm not sure how long that will be! Especially if your mama thinks you're sick!"
Evangelina smiled and changed into a nightgown before curling up in bed.

The next day, Cassius woke up and stares at the window.

"It's sunrise. I'm going to take a shower first."

Then, he went to the bathroom, Cassius takes off his clothes and takes a bathe.

A few moments later, Cassius wears his clothes.

Cassius went downstairs and smells something delicious.

"Mom, is that your dish?" said Cassius.

"Oh, Cassius, you're awake," said Cassidy.

"Yes, Mom. I'm always awake when the sun rises. I love to see the sun rises," said Cassius.

"That's great, son," said Cassidy.

A few minutes later, Cassius's father wakes up.

"Honey, breakfast is ready," said Cassidy.

Eustace smells something delicious, too.

"What's that delicious smell?" said Eustace.

"Oh, hon, you're awake. Come on, let's eat," said Cassidy.

Then, the Madison family sits on the table and eat their breakfast.

Evangelina slept in. Her dreams plagued by the sheer number of men being hurt in the war. She tossed and turned. Eventually, her mother came and woke her.
"Honey, you were having a bad dream. It's okay," She told Evangelina, hugging her.
"Oh, Mama! Why does this war keep dragging on?" She cried, hugging her mother. "It's silly and innocent people get hurt! Why can't people just get along?"
"I know, honey," Her mother soothed her, "But it should be over soon. We have to continue for those poor people."
"I know. I want them to be free to have the lives they want," Evangelina sighed. "It's just so hard..."

After Cassius finishes his breakfast, Cassius stands up. But before he leaves the room, his mom, Cassidy, asks an errand for him.

"Cassius, please do me a favor, son," said Cassidy.

"Hon, Cassius is exhausted after the practice yesterday, you should relax him a day," said Eustace.

Cassius turned to his parents.

"No, Dad. I'm fine," said Cassius to his dad and turned to his mom. "What is it, mom?"

"Cassius, please buy me some things on this list." Cassidy show her list and give it to Cassius.

"How about Jane, Mom?," said Cassius.

"Son, Jane should stay at our house only. How about you should do it? Okay, son?" said Cassidy and gave Cassius some cash.

"Okay, Mom," said Cassius.

Cassius opens the door and closes it. Then, Cassius walk to the marketplace. When Cassius walks to the marketplace, some girls were staring at Cassius giggling.

"Is that Cassius Madison?" said the girl at the fruit stand.
"That's him."
"Oh my goodness, Cassius is here."
"I think I wanna marry him."
"No, you're not."
"Yes, I do."
"He's so handsome."
"I'll talk to him."
"Hey, Cassius."

Cassius looks at the girls, waves at the girls and smiled. Then, Cassius walked to the marketplace.

"Oh my goodness, he's waving at me."
"No, he's waving at me."
"No, he's waving at me. He's looking at me, not you."

Cassius enters at the marketplace.

After a few minutes, Cassius bought all the things on the list.

"Hey, girls. Cassius is coming back this way."
"Hello, Cassius."

Cassius just waving at the girls, with a smile.

"Oh my goodness, he's waving at me."
"No, he's waving at me."
"No, he's waving at me. He's looking at me, not you."

Then, he walked home, along with his basket, carrying lots of the things he needed. Then, he opens the door, entering the house.

Evangelina got out of bed and drew a bath. She scrubbed until she felt she had rubbed the nightmares from her skin. Then she got out and dried off. She looked at the evening gown her mother had laid out for her. She sighed. It was beautiful, but all those hoops and petticoats? She always felt smothered under all of it. She would much rather wear her simple nurses uniform. She looked at it a moment longer then pulled on the first layer of clothing. A half an hour later, she was finally dress and waked out of her room.
"Evangelina? Do you think you and Serafina could go into town for me? There is some things I need to pick up.
"Of course, Mama!" Evangelina smiled, picking up her basket and the purse her mother handed her.
Serafina picked up her own basket and the two girls linked arms, walking arm and arm into town.
"So, how were the confederate men last night? No one recognized you, right?" Sera asked worriedly.
Evangelina shook her head, "No one has noticed me at all. I don't think anyone will recognize me."
So far, the men had been nothing but grateful. She thought it was silly and sad that they had to depend on her and only her. She thought back to a strange man she had encountered a month ago. He had asked her a lot of questions. But he had been traded about a week ago to bring back some of the Unions injured men. She was secretly happy he was gone. He had scared her with all of those questions.
"You alright, Lina?" Sera asked.
"Huh? Oh, I guess I'm just a little tired is all," Evangelina smiled. "Now, lets go get Mama's things."
The girls set off and gathered everything that her mother needed and returned home.

"Mom, I'm home," said Cassius.

"That's great, son. Did you bought all the things we need," said Cassidy.

"Yes, mom," said Cassius.

"Son, I think you should sit down for a while," said Cassidy.

Then, Cassius walks to the sofa, then, sit down. Then, Cassius saw his dad reading his newspaper.

Louisiana Daily
Lincoln abolishes slavery

"What? Abolished slavery. I-Impossible!" said Eustace with rejection and fright.

After hearing these, Jane's expression is very happy. Then, Cassius look at Jane. Then, Jane hides on her room.

"Unacceptable," said Eustace.

Upon hearing this, Cassidy went to Eustace.

"If this happened, our plantation will be bankrupt," said Cassidy.

"I know, hon," said Eustace.

"What if, ..." said Cassidy.

"Calm down, Cass, everything's going to be fine. I promised." said Eustace.

"But, hon," said Cassidy.

"That's okay," said Eustace.

After a few minutes sitting on the sofa and stares at the window, Cassius stands up.

"Mom, Dad, may I go out?" said Cassius.

"Where do you think you're going?" said Eustace.

"I'm going to Christopher's house," said Cassius.

"Okay, just go home before the sun is at the center point. If you don't, I'll ground you, " said Eustace.

"Yes, dad."

Then, Cassius walks to the road and rides via wagon to Christopher's house.

"Mama! We're home!" Evangelina called.
"Oh good!" Mrs. Lovelace called back, walking into the foyer. "Did you get everything alright?"
"Yes, Mrs. Lovelace," Sera smiled, holding up her basket.
"Sera," Mrs. Lovelace laughed, "You know I prefer Sally."
"I know, Ma'am, but my mama taught me to always call ladies by there last name," Sera told her.
"Yes," the woman grew somber. Sera's mom had been killed on their run to freedom.
Evangelina gave Sera a hug. "I'm sorry, Sera. Let's go feed the horses."

After reaching Christopher's house, ...

"Stop!"

The wagon stopped from moving.

"Thank you, mister." said Cassius and give the money to the driver.

"Keep the change, mister." said Cassius.

Then, Cassius hopped down, the wagon moved back to Baton Rouge and went to Christopher's house. Cassius knocked the door.

"Hello," said Cassius.

"Who is it?" said someone inside the house.

"Oh, Cash," said Christopher.

"Stop calling me that," said Cassius.

"I'm just kidding, come on in," said Christopher.

Cassius goes inside the house and saw Isaac and Kyle.

"Isaac, Kyle. It's been years since I saw you," said Cassius.

"Yeah. I kinda miss Louisiana after years my family live in Mobile, Alabama," said Isaac.

"... and Baton Rouge, too." said Kyle.

"So, how about..." Christopher gets the bottle and glass, "some rhum?" said Christopher.

"Eh, no thanks, Christopher," said Cassius.

"Come one, just one glass," said Christopher.

"Uh, Christopher, have you changed?" said Cassius.

"No, I'm fine." said Christopher.

"Really?" said Cassius.

"Yes. Please, just one glass," said Christopher.

"Please Christopher, stop it. If Cassius don't want to, just stop it." said Isaac.

(groans) "Fine!"

Christopher put the bottle of rhum and glass.

"Okay, what is the purpose here, Cassius?" said Christopher.

"Have you heard? Abraham Lincoln..." said Cassius and stopped.

"Abolished slavery, yes." said Christopher, Isaac and Kyle simultaneously.

"How did you know?"

"Cassius, we are reading the newspaper, too. But don't worry about that. We were seceded, remember?," said Kyle.

"Yeah!" said Cassius.

11:10 AM

Cassius had a conversation with Christopher, Isaac and Kyle. Cassius watched the window.

"Oh shoot. The sun is at the center point. Got to go now," said Cassius.

"Hey, how about stay here for an hour," said Christopher.

"No. My dad will ground me for this," said Cassius.

"Okay, Cassius." said Isaac.

Then, Cassius left Christopher's house, went to the sidewalk and waited for the wagon to come. Then, the wagon came to Cassius. Cassius rides the wagon.

"Mister, Baton Rouge, please." said Cassius.

"Okay, lad," said the driver. Then, the wagon head down to Baton Rouge.

Evangelina was at yet another boring party. She Sighed and played the part of an unassuming girl. 'You need to find a husband and settle down' her mothers words echoed in her head.
But she didn't want that! She wanted love, not a political marriage!
A man walked over and asked her to dance.
Evangelina agreed and he lead her to the dance floor. He twirled her about the dance floor. Soon, she was dizzy. She didn't notice when he lead them out of sight of most of the people.
"You are going to fetch a very high price," he whispered in her ear.
Evangelina went cold. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't play games with me. You are too smart for that," He smiled and she suddenly knew! It was the man who had been traded a few weeks back! The confederate soldier who made her uncomfortable.
She tried to run but her caught her and covered her nose and mouth with a funny smelling cloth. Her eyes grew heavy and she fell unconscious.
The man hoisted her over his shoulder and fled the mansion grounds.

When Cassius reaches home, he paid the driver.

"Keep the change, mister." said Cassius.

Then he went down the wagon and entered the house. When Cassius entered the house, only his mom and their family servant are there in the house.

"Mom, where is Dad?" said Cassius.

Cassius's mom hear his voice. Then, his mom came closer to him.

"Cassius, you're here. I'm sorry, your dad will not be here for our lunch. He and his fellow commander and Lt. Gen. Erickson are having a general meeting. Lt. Gen. Erickson came here from our house a while ago, before you left the house to New Orleans." said Cassidy.

"Oh, well. I understand," said Cassius.

"How about that? We will be eating lunch just the two of us, son," said Cassidy.

"But dad will be mad if--," said Cassius.

"Don't worry about it, son. Your dad told me that we should start lunch without him," said Cassidy.

(sigh) "Okay, mom," said Cassius.

"What are you waiting for, honey? I know you're hungry. Come on. Let's eat," said Cassidy.

Then, the two went to the table, sit down and eat their lunch.

Evangelina woke up, groaning. Her head was pounding. She reached up to hold her head, but her hands wouldn't move from her sides. She was rocking back and forth like she was in a carriage.
"Finally awake, princess?" The man called back to her.
"Where am I? Where are you taking me?" She asked him, frightened but unwilling to let him know that.
"Well, I'm taking you to go see Lt. Gen Eustace. He and the others can figure out what to do with you. I'm simply here to take you to them," he laughed. "Sit tight, we should be there in a few days."

After Cassius ate their lunch, Cassius's dad went home immediately. Cassius's dad went to Cassius and came closer to him.

"Cassius, I want you to go with me," said Eustace.

"But why, dad?," said Cassius.

"Just... go with me. Go upstairs, pack your clothes and things, and wear your soldier uniform," said Eustace.

"But, ---" said Cassius.

"NOW!," said Eustace shouting.

Cassius went upstairs, packed his things and wear his soldier attire. Then, Cassius carries his backpack and shotgun, and went downstairs. Eustace packs also his clothes and carry his backpack. Eustace doesn't need to change his clothes, because he wears his soldier attire. Eustace went outside of master's bedroom.

"Wh-What happened, dear? What's going on," questioned Cassidy to Eustace, with fright.

"Cassidy, I'm afraid to tell you this, but, we'll be going to Charleston, dear," said Eustace.

"But why dear?" said Cassidy.

"Because the civil war has just began, said to our Lt. Gen. Erickson," said Eustace.

"Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. What if there might be trouble happened to you, and Cassius?" said Cassidy with fright.

"It's okay, Cassidy. We're fighting for our Confederate States. There's nothing to worried about us, hon. Cassius is the leader of the 84th Battalion. Cassius is a skilled soldier now. I think he trained very well. Nothing to worry about," said Eustace.

Cassius went downstairs. Eustace hears him going down to the stairs.

"Okay, honey. We'll be going now. You'll take care of this house, before we're returned here in Baton Rouge," said Eustace.

"*sniff*Okay, hon," said Cassidy crying.

"Mom, why are you crying?" said Cassius.

"No time for conversations, Cassius. Let's go," said Eustace.

"But, --" said Cassius.

"I'll explain to you when we reach South Carolina," said Eustace.

Eustace opens the door and Cassius talks to his father simultaneously.

"South Carolina?" said Cassius shocked.

"No time, the vehicle is waiting for us, let's go," said Eustace.

So, Cassius and his dad went to the vehicle and ride heading to Charleston, South Carolina.

Evangelina tried not to cry. She bit her lip and refused to look at her kidnapper.

They drove for days, only stopping when he needed to. He feed her and gave her water, but only enough to keep her healthy.

Finally, they arrived at their destination. The man pulled her out of the carriage and carried her into a house. People in Confederate uniforms milled about. He made a beeline for a bedroom and locked her in it.

Evangelina curled up on the bed and slept.

Hours later he returned and told her there was going to be a meeting.
