i think that the GTS should have a "Search Item" feature, similar to the search pokemon, to help people who need certain items, and don't want to root through hundreds of pokemon to find it

You might be thinking of a thread asking for a GTS that is just for items. I think OP is suggesting a feature to search for pokemon holding an item you want, making this a different idea.
