First, I don't want to be rude or offend others but i think, trading advertisement can be annoying, since some People load up pokemon, they don't want to trade and just use them for Advertising...it should be forbidden in my opinion, since there is enough room to advertise on your profile-description.

also it is not nice to rub other peoples face like "i have a rare shiny but i won't trade it, just for Advertising, tihihihi"

i saw many trades like this in the last days with descriptions like "vote on my poll" or "Advertising, shiny not for trade", as for me the global trading Station is a place for TRADING, not for bragging or seeking Attention...also promises like "vote on my poll and you have a Chance to get pokemon X" should be forbidden in description...

maybe it's just me but i'am highly annoyed, seeing a rare pokemon i would like to trade for in GTS and then reading "just Advertising"...>:D

if a thread like this already exists i'am sorry for open up twice...

(thanks Autumn for reminding me to comment hehe)

I agree so much! I've been staying out of the GTS for these past few days because I would get my hopes up but then realize that it isn't for trade. It's a trade station, not an advertising board. That's what the forums and feeds are here for. Imo, it's starting to feel a bit spammy.

Well I have actually seen some of these cases, specially with ditto since I've "many" used for "LF blabla" but not really offering them. I see the point of advertising (not for polls though, that sounds...weird) but well its true it can be a bit annoying. I lately started to use a few of my legends or items to bring attention but I actually want to trade them however since what I look for may not be a single item or pokemon I tell people what I need and that they PM me. Or my legendary dogs; I set trades with my own doggies part as advertising but I am also trading; not these, but I want to deal with others to buy them game center pokemon, so at the end, yes its trading.
I guess that way is not that...bad since you are actually trading the same pokemon. True, its like not a direct sale but still. Better than using dittos or zapdos to catch attention and then saying "omg what u say its NFT!" Which is kind of annoying.

So yep, I guess that sending something to GTS part as advertising but still trading the same species or item can be fine (as long as its not a scammer). But advertising for polls? Or to not sell anything? Pft.

OMG yes! Ads in the wrong places are annoying, no matter what form they're in. I hate them so much, that most of the time I'll make sure to NOT follow the Ad's agenda on purpose.

Like Uchiha said, it's a TRADE STATION. Put up Pokemon you want to trade or nothing at all. Seriously.

I understand Feed Advertisement, however, as long as it's not excessive.

Yes please! Ads in the GTS are annoying and unnecessary. It's the Global Trade Station, not Global Advertising Station.

My personal opinion of this is that I don't like the ads at all. If you have a pokémon in the GTS, it should be for trade, or to see what offers you get on it with the chance of them getting accepted if you get a fair offer.

It's not a place to drag attention to yourself for things. If you want to do that, there's feeds, your about me, and signatures that you can spam with it. Even avatars, if you really wanted to. So taking up a spot and adding one more thing to scroll past in the GTS is a waste and really shouldn't be allowed.

The only time I can see an exception to this is if you're advertising WHILE trying to trade the Pokémon away. Then you can get the attention while not taking up space with something that'll never get traded.

Title: consider this?

Well, @Oktopi, you seem to be mainly upset with the GTS trade ads on Rare Pokemon you would like to trade for, but then see that it's only an ad and you get annoyed.

But then what if it was just like, on a Normal Pokemon? Like a Ratatta? Or something you would just trade not neccessarily for the item you're looking for?

So like this: I set up a trade that's a, ah, I dunno, a regular old Psyduck. And i clearly state something like "Fair offers please!" and then add something after that saying something like (P.S., I'm also buying (whatever)).

So yes, there's an ad there in the description, but I'm still technically trading the Pokemon if someone wanted it for whatever reason. So i would trade the said Pysduck if someone wanted it, but yet i could still have an ad there.

Would this be acceptable? I honestly think I've gotten more business from the GTS then i have in the forums. The forums are almost always active and threads get bumped down the list pretty quickly. But in the GTS they dont get bumped down as fast, usually.

Or even if the ad was on a Rare Pokemon, but you were actually trading the Pokemon for something but added like the before mentioned (P.S. im buying (whatever)) after what you're looking for. I don't feel like ads should be banned from the GTS completely, but its true that trades saying like "go vote on my polls" are unecessary.

Do you think this could be okay? Or acceptable? Just throwing my thoughts out .w.

So I have a few screenshots of my idea:

(Yes I had to add that "please do not actually offer" on that last trade because it was just for this example, but if i was actually trading a Shiny, I think it'd be okay to say what I wanted for it and then add a little side note saying I'm doing another form of business of some sort)

Something like that is what Furret and I think should be allowed. It's still for trade for actual offers, not just to show off, and spreads news about whatever you're advertising. (In the example, a contest with more ghostly prizes. But it can also be "Also looking for Enigma stones" or "Willing to buy Electric Gems, pm me for more info", etc)

As long as the Pokémon in question is a legitimate trade, I see no reason to make it where advertising isn't allowed. It's just the ones where they are clearly not trading it that it's not allowed. (Much like the spam and disruption from the troll trade day that got everyone really furious. Same exact thing happening here.)

thank you for discussing about my thread, also Furret, thanks for the PM clearing things up for me. i see your points, Furret and Navuso and i guess your ideas would make a good compromise to forbidding gts ads in general.

there should just be a rule, which forbids pure "show-offs", posting rare pokemon, shinies etc without intention to trade. using pokemon like Rattata as "helper" for trading plates or stones sounds okay for me. events or give aways are also an exception, but some trades with really rare pokemon were only for seeking attention and thats what annoyed me.

I think the only forbidden thing should be saying that you are not trading the pokemon. If you just advertise you didn't actually say you won't trade the Pokemon, so what's the problem?
