Ok, so I've been seeing a lot of moving avatars lately. I'm one of those people who easily gets distracted by moving things. So when I'm reading a forum thread or a feed, these can be distracting and annoying. I know a lot of people love moving avatars and think they're cool, and I don't want to take that ability to use them from you.

So what I'm suggesting is to have an option in the settings to have avatars not move for the user (sorry for my bad wording, I'm tired). How this would work is something similar to taking the first frame of a GIF and using that instead of the GIF. I'm not sure if this is possible, but it'd be nice for those of us who don't like moving avatars and such. Because we're forced to see them when someone posts and it's hard to get it out of the way.

I get why you don't like them but I feel they're are WAY too many to remove, also some only take up about2 seconds so I thnk that those are fine,if you don't like them so much then I will make a suggestion to stop with that

This seems like a personal issue that you can solve on your own by using google chrome and an add-on to stop gifs/animations from playing. They have quite a few of them. c: Just google it lol.

All this suggestion is saying is to give people the option for a user to see them as just a picture and not move I don't get why people are not supporting it :/

ptoung: I have noticed that you fail to pay attention to what anyone else has to say, and it's rather annoying...

That aside, having the option to disable animated avatars would be neat, but I'm not sure that there's a way to do this without having to do it for everyone. (Since it would most likely require optimization when done this way in order to remove the frames.)

However, I do know there are browser extensions that will play a gif once, then freeze it, so that it's no longer a distraction, as a work-around to this issue.

I didn't know there was something like that for Chrome, so there's a solution for my laptop, but I use Safari for my iPad.

Sorry if my wording for it is confusing. I tried to think of another word for stop, but my brain isn't fully functioning.

I think that's why people aren't supporting, they probably think I'm trying to get moving avatars banned lol

Diana: by doing some research, I'm sure you can find something that is the equivelant for Safari. ^^

If the mobile browser allows apps, you can use Safari's deanimator app
Firefox, there's an app for it as well, or you can change the settings on the configuration page.
Chrome: There's an app for that
IE: Like firefox, there's a setting you can change to remove the animations from gifs (only first frame)

So, yeah, there are ways around this through the browsers themselves. (There's one for Opera as well, if you look it up :3 I don't use safari or opera, so they aren't important to me >.<)

I've been doing some research on it, and according to one thing, Paused! for Chrome might not work if the GIF is from another domain, which most are. *sigh*

I guess I could try it. I couldn't find anything for Safari, though.

Navuso: Thanks, but you can't download that on an iPad. I think that's for the Computer version of Safari.

If you want to stop moving Avatars, you might as well stop moving signatures, since most signatures have GIFs in them. I have trouble loading a page because of so much heavy things in Signatures and Avatars.

Diana: If you are already using PokeHeroes on your iPad, why aren't you just zooming in a little so you can't see the avatars? That's pretty easy on tablets, isn't it? (I do it all of the time on my mobile device. Mainly because the font is too small on my display)

And after doing a quick research: It's not possible to simply disable gif animations programmatically.

Yeah, I try doing that, but sometimes there's just too many moving things.

Aw, alright. If it's not possible, you can move this to rejected. ^^
