"Storm's not doing well... Tiger's collapsed... The pack is about
to, too." Echo glanced around at the remaining wolves, but they
were leaving as their leader was dead. "I thought that Ivy was a
traitor, White-fang. She ended up saving the whole pack..."
''yeah and what about my brother..? he's tried to help fight but
ended up seriously hurt.....'' he muttered, ear's pinned back.
he glanced at ivy's limp corpse and sighed.
''bu i will admit that even though ivy went back to blade, i'm
surprised and very thankful she helped out our pack instead of
his...'' white-fang mumbled.
I can tell you weren't as close to her, Echo thought,
looking at him. "Scar will be fine. He's strong, after all," the
ebony assured, somewhat uncomfortably. She had never liked Scar
that much, even as a pup. "Ivy never went back to Blade. She was
with us the whole time." Echo glanced towards Storm, who paced
unevenly around. Echo stood up and padded over to him. "Storm,"
Echo murmured quietly. He looked at her. "Amber died."
Echo stared. "What?" She murmured, choosing not to believe that he
was solemn. "Amber died." Storm repeated once more. "Storm... I
think it's time to move," Echo murmured. He looked at her,
wistfully, and nodded. "A long journey. It will mean we'll be
farther from Blade's pack if it rises again... maybe find new
wolves..." Storm mumbled, agreeing.
(*Quietly drags Jinx and Thorn back into the scene*)
Thorn led Jinx quietly, with the help of a she-wolf's directions,
to the Healers' Cave. Jinx leaned on him, limping slightly. Thorn
burst into the Healers' Den, where the new Healer, Dawn, greeted
them with surprise. "Oh, hello young pups. What do you need? Are
you here to visit your kin?" She asked. Dawn was anti-social and
did not know that they were new. "My sister has a thorn in her paw.
It's big and she's bleeding and she's not as strong as me!" Thorn
burst out. Dawn took Jinx steadily by the scruff. "Don't worry,
young one! She will be fine." Dawn turned to treat Jinx's paw, but
Thorn still lingered around the Healers' Den, pacing uneasily.
scar chuckled weakly and looked at thorn.
''you sister will be fine... go play or something..'' he mumbled
quietly.
he cringed and coughed, his ear's pinned back from the pain.
white-fang limped into the healer's den to check up on scar.
''don't talk.. you know that only bug's up your neck wound
more....'' he sighed.
''oh shut up white-fang....'' scar grumbled.
Thorn looked away from the he-wolf. "I'll stay by Jinx's side until
she can leave, and when she does, I'll leave with her. Mother made
me promise to protect her, after all," Thorn replied. And she's
the only I will play with. Jinx looked affectionately at him,
as if her gaze was full of pride like a mother's. "Is she okay
now?" Thorn asked Dawn. "Still working on it." Dawn had a thorn in
her mouth.
scar sighed and forced himself to sit up.
''alright then... heh.. sometimes i don't get pup's, even if i've
got pup's of my own.... which remind's me, i should go check on
them and dagger'' he murmured.
''no, your going to lay back down and rest..'' white-fang
muttered.
scar growled quietly, which also sounded like a blender full of
nail's.
''you can't tell me what to do....!'' he snarled.
Although she was younger than Scar, Dawn was a Healer and therefore
had the right to silence both of them. She swiftly flicked her paw
over Scar's ear, but it was firm and bound to cause a bit of pain.
"Silence! Both of you!" She snapped, but in a hoarse mutter that
only made it even more threatening. "A wounded trainee is trying to
rest here and you're causing a nuisance!" The trainee, Ice, was
caked in gashes and cuts (Dawn had cleaned the blood). Ice groaned,
her twisted leg stiffening. The slender brown healing wolf rushed
over to the trainee, lapping her tongue comfortingly over Ice's
white head. "Rest, young one," she said in a hushed voice.
(I just realized something. Amber is so stubborn that she had to
die twice 030)
"You shouldn't worry," Jinx said, quietly. She barely looked at
Scar. Her paw was lifted so that the wet substance on it would not
rub off (and Dawn would scold her if she walked around before it
dried), and her focus was more on that. "Your mate and pups are
fine. I was with them the whole time," the young pup assured.
Thorn spectated the conversation with a slight uncomfortable look
(he wasn't keen on talking to strangers). "And you shouldn't let
your brother mess you around like that," Jinx added. "You seem
older, after all." Scar had closed his eyes at her last sentence,
and so Jinx returned to being her quiet, slim self.
scar opened his eye's again and got back up to where he was laying
flat on his stomach.
''truth is i'm the younger brother... white-fang's older, though i
act more my age'' he admitted, pinning his ear's back a little.
he chuckled and looked outside of the cave.
''yet he doesn't have any pup's yet.... unlike me, i think he might
be a bit jealous since i was the first to have a family... but i'm
sure he'll have pup's of his own soon enough'' he sighed.
he yawned and rested his muzzle onto his paw's again, now more wide
awake then before due to his wound's causing him a bit of pain.
"What happened to him and Echo?" Dawn chimed in, quietly in the
middle of a lick she had planted onto the injured Ice's head. She
dragged her tongue forward, and the trainee's breathing steadied.
She had a soft touch and would of made a good pup mother, but she
was too anti-social to find love. Jinx absentmindedly said, "I'm
sure they're great pups."
Thorn sighed, looking uncomfortably outdoors. The cave was dim, and
Jinx knew that her brother despised everywhere dark--they had been
in enough shadows for their life. "Dawn, can I go now?" She asked
softly, nimbly holding her paw up. The Healer nodded, and she
trotted outside next to Thorn.
''i'm not exactly sure really... he's been distant lately, usually
just coming in to come in to visit mine and dagger's pup's at
time's....'' scar mumbled.
he cringed and just laid his head back down, coughing up a bit of
blood.
''stupid savage wolves... stupid blade..'' he complained.
Dawn sighed. "They really were cute together." She gained a distant
look in her eyes, a sad mournful one. "Ivy wasn't stupid. I can't
believe she wasn't a traitor to our pack. She saved the whole
entire pack, probably..."
''i never said that she was stupid, though i regret even
calling her a traitor... and i hate myself for saying that..'' scar
muttered.
he sat up and cringed, curling his tail around his paw's.
''i just wish he'd calm down enough to collect up more nerves....
ever since that time blade got his back wide open with a pretty
deep wound, he's been on edge lately.. i worry about him... he's
the only family i had when we were pup's.. but i've got a family of
my own now while he's been patrolling almost everyday to get out of
the camp...... he need's to settle down and actually start a family
of his own soon.. otherwise he'll have no heritage on his side when
he get's older...'' he mumbled, his tone of voice practically easy
to tell how much he worried about his brother white-fang.
Dawn just shrugged. "I'm sure he'll come along to find love
eventually. We are moving campsites soon, Scar. He might fall for
some of the lone wolves that want to join. Or maybe he and
Echo..."
"Nah. That was too long ago," the black she-wolf replied, padding
into the Healer's Den and laying down in the corner. "Oh. Hi,
Echo." Dawn pushed a stray berry back into its place. "White-fang's
a nice he-wolf, I guess. He'll be fine."
