As the day dragged on, the snow piled up. Even with the cold and snow slowing them down, they arrived in the small town before night fall. The Nidoran stopped just outside of the town, looking around at the falling apart buildings. It was worse off than he had expected, but there should be a map and somewhere sheltered to stay for the night. He had a little money, though not a lot. It should be enough for a night at an inn, if they could find one.
The Nidoran fusion fell over backwards in surprise when a Haunter came up through the counter and turned to face the two newcomers.
"Welcome" she greeted, unfazed by the rude reaction.
afterwords tusk turned back around to look at the haunter "umm yeah could we get a room by any chance?"
"Y-yeah, I have enough to pay for it," he added before the Haunter had a chance to reply.
"One room. Yeah, here's a key to room 104. We do not serve breakfast here, but we do have activities. Just look at the brochures if you need anything, dears." the Haunter replied, dropping a key on the counter before fading out.
"Yeah, it's best to go ahead and check out where we'll be sleeping," he replied with a nod. He grabbed the key and hung it on one of his shoulder spikes, then took the lead to their room. He unlocked and pushed the door open, then blinked a few times. It was a bit barren, a single bed, a single desk, and with luck, a map hung on the wall.
The Nidoran tossed the key onto the desk, then went to go study the map.
"Hm..." he muttered, his mismatched eyes tracing the paths and estimating the time to travel them. After about an hour of trying to make decisions, he finally broke his concentration with a sigh.
"The shortest route puts three Mystery Dungeons between us and the guild, but it's the only one that gets us there in a somewhat timely manner," he said, shaking his head before looking to the Zorua.
"They are locations that change by the day. Every time you enter a dungeon, it's likely to be different than the last time you entered. The pokemon that live in a dungeon are hostile towards everyone else, which makes them dangerous places to go through. However, there are usually items and rewards scattered about. That's also where rescue missions usually take place, since when a weak pokemon gets cornered by the natives, they can't get out and they need to be saved. A strong team will then head in, fetch the trapped client, then lead them safely out to freedom. Mystery Dungeons are much more harsh than being out in the open is. The forest we came from can be dangerous, but it isn't constantly changing, and pokemon can usually be reasoned with. In the Dungeons, this is rarely the case." he tried to explain, feeling like he was fumbling over it.
"Well maybe we should get some rest now and worry about it in the morning. Its getting pretty late"
"You get the bed. I'll sleep by the door," he said, not really leaving it open for discussion as he lay down and curled up behind the door, his tail curling around his body and under his head.
