she stubbornly tried to stand up, even in her beaten state,
managing to get to her paw's.
''ha- oh crow food'' she said and flopped back onto her side,
wincing in pain.
her claw's sank into the ground as she gritted her teeth.
''i'll be lucky enough to even be able to mentor brackenpaw or keep
the clan safe again...'' she grumbled.
silverflame didn't even try standing, she rolled unto her belly and
forced herself into a sitting stance.
''i am not going to just lay here forever.. i will get my revenge
on those cats...'' she growled.
her good ear twitched, hearing treefoot return to the med-den.
"Since I can't be there with you to fight, all you can have is a
stupid blessing from me." Ravenclaw growled, her ears pinning back.
She'd made it pretty clear. She didn't want to speak about fighting
while she couldn't do it anymore.
''ravenclaw.... i'm sure your leg will heal soon..... i am sure of
it'' she said trying to sound upbeat.
''well... look's like the wounded warrior is standing up a bit to
quick! even in her beaten up state she is stubbornly trying to get
back up.... silverflame, lay back down and rest'' treefoot said
sorting through the herbs.
silverflame grumbled and did what the med-cat said, laying back
down but not on her side.
''silverflame!'' came a familiar sounding voice and brackenpaw came
skidding to a stop next to his mentor.
they both touched noses and silverflame softly purred as she
sneakily licked his nose, which made him stumble backwards a little
stunned.
she snickered and rested her muzzle onto her paws, falling asleep.
"Silverflame, you don't understand. My leg is wounded permanently.
It can't heal, and it won't." Ravenclaw muttered shrilly, but she
was already asleep.
silverflame did her little stunt again and stood up, wincing in
pain. one little step at a time silver.... one step at a time..
she thought to herself.
she stiffly limped out of the med-den and breathed in the crisp
night air sighing.
she made the most risky stunt ever and tried to climb a tree,
actually making it to a branch in the perfect spot to lay in the
moonlight.
she yawned and fell back asleep, purring quietly.
Treefoot's crooked whiskers scratched against the calico she-cat's
sides until she woke up by the touch of his rustic, tough nose.
"Ravenclaw. What have you thought about my offer?" He asked, as she
stood herself up. His kind eyes were stern and wise, but watery
with... was that kindness? Yes, for the first time, Ravenclaw
noticed kindness in his eyes. The kind her mother had in her eyes
before... Ravenclaw pushed the thought away. "I-i... Treefoot..."
Her eyes watered. Her insides wanted to burst, like half her mind
was going against the other. The old medicine cat's bushy tail
rested on Ravenclaw's shoulder as the she-cat's face dug into the
medicine cat's fur. Treefoot only kept her steady in his brotherly
way, as she made out two words she barely even regretted: "I
accept." She croaked. Treefoot nodded, his tail still comforting
her shoulder. "There, there, Ravenclaw. I know it's hard for you.
Let it out. We can begin once you've healed a bit more." He meowed.
She nodded, and curled up tightly to a sleep.
brackenpaw walked over to the med-den carrying a mouse when he
stopped at the entrance dropping the mouse.
''where's.. where did silverflame go...?'' he muttered and treefoot
looked at the empty nest, ear's perked up.
''i don't- gah!'' he yelled as the apprentice tackled him and
pinned him to the ground growling.
''where is she!'' brackenpaw yelled angrily.
treefoot was just frozen in fear cause the look in brackenpaw's
eye's looked murderous, as if the apprentice was about to tear him
to shred's.
''you mouse brained tom-cat... i'm right here'' silverflame
muttered as she limped to the med-den entrance.
he looked over his shoulder and his eye's softened, then when he
looked down at the petrified looking med-cat treefoot, brackenpaw
scrambled backward's and pinned his ear's back, suddenly realizing
what he almost did.
''i... i-i.......'' he stammered.
brackenpaw felt like crawling under a rock and letting it crush him
just from his major mistake of trying to harm treefoot.
even a few other warriors and apprentices had gathered outside of
the med-den to see what was going on.
Ravenclaw limped out of her nest, and clawed Brackenpaw across the
ear. Although she was wounded and incapable now, her scratch was
still furious, ruthless, and painful as ever. "Respect to the
Medicine Cat!" She hissed, in a scolding way. Brackenpaw's teeth
gritted and his eyes watered a bit, but he was still rather strong.
At least I haven't lost my scratch, Ravenclaw thought with a
glimpse of gladness. Treefoot leaped up on his paws, shaking the
moss off his pelt. "Brackenpaw, I may be a Med-cat but I'm rather
fragile and horrid at fighting." He growled, tensing. "I need to
speak with Maplestar." He meowed, as the cats rushed to see if he
was okay. Lilacpaw stirred in her nest, mewling. "R-ravenclaw?
What's happening? I-is Treefoot o-okay?" She yawned, shaking off
her tiredness. Ravenclaw padded up to the orphan-apprentice and
lapped her head soothingly. "He'll be fine, Lilacpaw. Continue to
rest." She meowed. Even if the apprentice was annoying, Lilacpaw
was the closest thing she had to a kit.
brackenpaw sank his claw's into the soft earth underpaw and stared
at the ground, tear's streaming.
''that's the second time i've snapped at that med-cat....'' he
mumbled.
silverflame limped up beside him looking confused.
''second time...? what happened the first time?'' she asked, now
rather curious to hear more about his history with treefoot.
''i was still a new apprentice back then...... but i yelled at
treefoot.. even slashed my claw's at him, only catching a good
swipe of his nose, almost his muzzle.... i regretted that day
since, i even swore i wouldn't hurt him again.. which i ended up
tackling him to the ground...'' brackenpaw muttered.
silverflame sighed.
''brackenpaw...'' she muttered.
''i'm probably going to be banished from the clan.... just because
of snapping at treefoot......'' he mumbled.
Blossompaw's long, curved, sharper-than-bramble claws unsheathed,
glittering in the sunlight. Her astonishing wild green eyes
shimmered threateningly beneath the pale steaming sun, her
neatly-groomed black-and-white pelt being fried under the heat. Her
nose scrunched, causing her nostrils to flare in a violently wild
manner. Her ear twitched, the one that was partly ripped off from
the battle when Cloverheart had fallen. She had gotten over that.
Staring into the white she-cat's icy blue eyes, they padded in
continuous circles, waiting for one another to strike. Blossompaw's
jaws departed, revealing her now over-grown, razor-sharp teeth to
the warrior. The sand from the ground stuck at her paws, only
making her rather angry. In a blink of an eye, she ruthlessly
snapped her jaw shut, clamping the warrior's left leg at an
astonishing aim, slashing her claws against the she-cat's muzzle,
and thrashing her back to a stumble, than slamming onto her back
and sending her down. "Heh. Well done, Blossompaw." The warrior
meowed smugly. She jerked to the side, expecting to throw the
apprentice off. Failing, Blossompaw gave an open shot at her
stomach, causing the warrior to flinch.
