"Show respect for the warriors," She scolded and cuffed him on the ear. "Silverflame, you too stop acting so hostile. Brackenpaw is still an apprentice. Cut him some slack." Ravenclaw meowed. "And Ravenclaw, stop liking Rowanclaw." She scolded herself. "Wait, you like--" Brackenpaw began. "That was a joke," The calico warrior lied and sat down in the sidelines to watch the race.
Summary: Blossomkit made up with Jaggedkit.
Blossomkit stirred in the warm, almost too big moss nest. Her ashy-black fur was ruffled, as she rose up to her paws. Cloverheart and Jaggedkit were still asleep. She silently padded out of the nursery and stared off to the horizon, almost surprised as a golden-brown tom-kit sat next to her. "Oh hello Eaglekit." Blossomkit meowed, barely turning to him. Her friend--her only one--stared off into the horizon with her. "Hey Blossom." He meowed calmly, his thick fur ruffling in the wind.
both counted in sync and once they reached three, the both shouted go and bolted at full speed.
''you are not going to beat me!'' brackenpaw growled and when one of his paws hit the ground, he kicked hard and sent a cloud of dirt at her.
''hey! no fair!'' she coughed but kept on running, and without fail, past him on the second bend of the fields.
''who's the fastest now cheater?!'' she hissed and kicked dirt back in face.
he spat and coughed trying to keep running but ended up colliding into a tree.
silverflame skidded and walked back towards the tree her head tilted.
''you alright?'' she asked.
''i'm fine..'' he muttered and rubbed his muzzle.
she chuckled and poked his shoulder with her right forpaw.
''next time don't try and cheat, otherwise it will come back and bite you in the tail'' she said with a small grin, which he, shockingly, returned a grin.
''i may act all tough when it comes to challenges.. but i am still a good sport half the time'' he chuckled and stood up.
both of them ran along beside each other making it to the spot that was chosen as the finish line.
dragonfang came back carrying a few fish in her jaw and laid them on the fresh kill pile and went back to the warrior den, being greeted by one of the tom cats in the den.
''hello dragonfang'' the tom cat said.
''hello to you to razorclaw'' dragonfang replied.
Ravenclaw sank her razor-sharp teeth into the thin brown tabby's ear. His eyes jetted open, as he glared at her, a bit shocked. "What?...." He grumbled. Ravenclaw's teeth gritted. "Come with me," She meowed as she led Rowanclaw to the stream. Her claws hooked on a fish, and she slammed it on the ground in front of Rowanclaw's paws. "Eat." She meowed, as he hesitantly poked at the fish with his claws. "So... Seen StreamClan around?" The deputy asked, trying to get around the fish.
"Is there any other clan beside StreamClan?" Ravenclaw asked, annoyed. "There's StoneClan, who lives by the hills." Rowanclaw admitted. "Why do you only speak of StreamClan, than?" Rowanclaw shrugged. "We have an alliance with StoneClan, and OasisClan doesn't have territory near us."
"Oh. Eat it," Ravenclaw meowed. He hesitated and gulped down the fish, wiping the scales and guts off his muzzle. "Its actually pretty good," He murmured. "Yep. I'm going to teach you how to fish," Ravenclaw meowed.
"Bored..." Eaglekit groaned, flipping on his back and clawing the sky determinedly. "You're always bored." Blossomkit shrugged and batted him playfully across the face. "I'm not--Gah mouse-dung!" He grimaced, never dodging Blossomkit's bats. "I'd like to bat her in turn at least once," Eaglekit pleaded, gazing up towards the sky as if he was praying to StarClan. Blossomkit giggled, dodging Eaglekit's large, fuzzy golden paw.
"And I'd like to be the largest kit in the nursery. StarClan knows that won't happen," The ash-black kit meowed, as if comparing her wish and Eaglekit's which was like fire with fire.
"Gotcha!" Blossomkit purred and slapped Eaglekit across the face with her tiny, white paw.
"Why don't I call you Blossy? It sounds cute to me." The tom-kit teased mildly. "No, that sounds annoying." Blossomkit mewled, her pelt growing hot from the last comment. "Your new nickname is Blossy than," Eaglekit purred, his short whiskers twitching in amusement.
"Eaglekit. Seriously." Blossomkit grumbled. "I know!" He exclaimed as he leaped off her and sat next to her. "You can call me 'O' Great One'! That totally fits me!" He purred.
"Why don't I call you Eagle-dung? Sounds perfect to me." Blossomkit purred. "Ah, come on Blossy." He argued. "No nicknames." She declared. "I still get to call you Blossy." He looked at her hopefully. "Fine."
A large, broad tom-kit swished out of the nursery, his ginger-brown fur ruffled and thick. His chest was puffed out proudly, his beady light-blue eyes glinting with mischief. "Blossy, don't let him bother you this time. His eyes aren't nearly as brilliant as yours," Eaglekit whispered to her. "What does my eyes have to do with teasing?" She mumbled back to him. "Your view of the world. You're smarter." He replied, and pulled away. "Hah! Lil' Blossy still has her mother to groom her fur for her!" The ginger kit teased, his voice deep and clear.
"Ahem. Only I call her Blossy. I claim that nickname." Eaglekit snapped. "Like it matters! Little Blossomkit here is still tiny, and she still needs her brother to protect her from her own clanmates!" The ginger one spat, as he clawed the ash-black Blossomkit across the shoulder. She didn't flinch. "You care why, dear mouse-brain?" Blossomkit asked calmly. "Your no good as a StreamClanner. You don't belong here, kittypet." The ginger tom-kit spat, ignoring her comment. "What did you call my sister?" A firm, cold voice came from behind him.
Jaggedkit. Blossomkit thought. Pity he doesn't like Eaglekit. She thought, meaning her brother was going to separate the two. "Uh... Nothing..." The ginger kit mewled in a small voice, leaping back to the nursery. "I thought so." The gray tabby kit grumbled, lapping the wound on the black kit's shoulder. "And you." Jaggedkit hissed, looking up at the golden-brown tom-kit. "Stay away from my sister," He hissed, as Eaglekit flinched and took the smart side; stay away from the older ones, stay away from the stronger ones. Blossomkit watched as Eaglekit dashed into the nursery. "Bye, Blossy!" He called quietly as he left.
"Blossomkit, stay away from that mouse-brain... He's not going to end up as your mate." Jaggedkit ordered. "Jaggedkit, he's not my mate and he never will be." His sister complained, nudging him lightly on the cheek. "But he's your best friend. Blossomkit, your small, kind, and helpless. That's why the other kits pick on you. Eaglekit will just betray you." Jaggedkit hissed, leaning close to his sister. "Jaggedkit. I'm two moons already, it'll stop." She replied, a little with annoyed. "Just mark my words, little sister."
''dragonfang!'' they both called and ran up to her nuzzling her.
''hey guys'' she purred and nuzzled them in return.
dragonfang batted her bushy tail at them and both of them attacked in sync playfully biting and growling, she just purred in amusement.
Quickly, Blossomkit dove behind a bush, unsteady and ungracefully. She'd need some serious training once she got a mentor. The only good thing was that her father hadn't noticed her. She quivered behind a bush, and watched as her father padded away. Please don't notice me, please don't notice me... She pleaded in her mind. Her heart was thumping, and her breath was shaky. "Little kit, you can come out now." The mew of Stonetooth echoed quickly in her thumping ears. "I-I'm sorry! I'll n-never eavesdrop again! Please don't tell C-cloverheart..." She wailed, crawling out from under the bush.
Stonetooth chuckled. "Ah, young one, a mere medicine cat should not blabber over being curious. I admire that fact about you. Come in the medicine den, let us share tongues. I'm sure your mother wouldn't mind if I'm watching you?" He asked kindly.
And so Blossomkit was sharing tongues with--out of all the cats--, Stonetooth, their elderly medicine cat. The young kit couldn't help but keep glancing at the white hairs tinged onto his muzzle from old age, or those fearful fangs that showed on him.
"Do you understand, Blossomkit?" He asked with concern. The young ash-black kit nodded, for it was true, she understood. "Be aware of who will betray you, young one. I may have made a foolish mistake announcing this while you be so young, but you will surely go mad if you have to keep wondering." Stonetooth meowed.
"I-i understand. StarClan has a prophecy about me, how I will bloom into a great w-warrior, but face the... the... c-consequences..." Blossomkit quivered. "Only once you bloom, young one. The time has not come yet. Run along, now." Stonetooth meowed, passing her a bit of honey. She nodded in thanks, and took it gratefully as she padded back to the nursery.
"Blossy! What happened there?" She turned to see Eaglekit. Be aware of who will betray you. The words echoed in her mind. "O-oh, nothing..." She meowed thoughtfully and padded back to Cloverheart, who starting grooming her fur.
silverflame couldn't sleep so she padded out of the clan camp going for a walk.
and hidden in the shadows following her kept silent so he wasn't caught.
where is she going..? the clancat thought curiously.
once she made it to the stream she seen a few times before, she laid down and looked at the water as if transfixed by the small, but calm current going past.
her ear twitched as a twig snapping made her focus more.
''who followed'' she asked calmly not looking back.
''brackenpaw.. i-i followed you'' he answered.
''and why did you follow me brackenpaw?'' silverflame questioned.
he gulped a little and padded over beside her.
''i wanted to know why you came out here'' he said in a respectful tone.
''to answer your question..'' she started and stood up.
he looked at her a bit scared of getting whacked in the head.
but she never raised her paw, then continued.
''you will have to find out... how about we go train, to see how well of a fighter you are'' she finished and looked at him.
he slowly nodded and both of the headed towards the training fields in respectful silence.
Ravenclaw was awoken as screech abruptly echoed through OakClan camp. The nursery. She thought, and scrambled up to her paws, despite being so tired. "Kits!" Wailed a pale-brown queen with bright blue eyes. "Shineflower! W-we need a medicine cat!" Ravenclaw called into the camp. Treefoot and Lilacpaw came rushing into the nursery with a bundle of herbs. The crisp air hissed through the camp, as it rushed through Ravenclaw's fur. She padded back to the warriors' den.
both silverflame and brackenpaw were practicing some fighting moves and sharing a few battle tips.
''your a pretty good fighter brackenpaw, i am impressed'' she said with a small nod of her head.
he dipped his head to her and looked up.
''your not to bad yourself silverflame'' he replied.
both of them walked under some shade and started talking for probably almost part of the day.
Three young kits, too young to remember anything, squirmed in the grip of a large, tortoiseshell she-cat, the crisp air slicing at their fur, and the dark night with only the half-moon to create light.
The she-cat trudged through the darkness, stopping at the cliff that echoed the roaring splashes of laps. The she-cat's long, saggy whiskers twitched, her battle-scarred ears swiveling. Her hackles raised abruptly as she heard a thump--coming from the border, were StreamClan territory had ended.
"Who is it?" She asked, a bit petrified. "Just me." A deep, faraway voice replied, as a battle-scarred, ivory-white tom trudged towards her way.
"Ah, I see." She answered, softly. "Are you very sure you want me to raise our kits in OasisClan? They will not know of your name, and one day they may have to face you in battle." The tom meowed. "Yes, I am sure. StreamClan will abandon these kits when they find out, and they are surely not ignorant enough to notice the absence of their unnamed father." Mewed the she-cat,
delicately.
"The tom is named Talonkit, and the she-kit is named Nightkit." Meowed the she-cat.
"Very well. I will pass them as rogues, and have Mellowflower adopt them as her own." Murmured the tom, taking the kits in his jaw.
"Be good, my kits." The she-cat meowed softly to the squirming kits, as her forehead pressed to the OasisClanner's. Her eyes locked with his, both full of sorrow as the she-cat trudged away.
Blossomkit woke up to a desperate wail. "My kits! Their gone!" Wailed a queen. "Dapplefur! Is this true?" A ginger she-cat asked the tortoiseshell. A giant hole in the nursery is what caught Blossomkit's eye.
It was clawed and broken, which meant a badger, or maybe a fox, had stolen Dapplefur's kits. "T-talonkit... Nightkit..." Whimpered the queen. "Dapplefur, calm down. We'll search for your kits." Meowed Aqualeaf, Eaglekit's mother.
''come on warriors, lets go search'' dragonfang announced and padded out of the clan camp.
a few followed while others went another way to search.
''don't worry dapplefur'' the dragonfangs she-kit said.
''dragonfang and the others will find talonkit and night kit'' dragonfangs tom-kit said last.
both the oakclanners returned to the camp talking and laughing as if they knew each other for moons.
''you really got stuck in a two-leg trap?'' brackenpaw asked.
''yeah, and it was horrible.. but i managed to escape'' she said looking at him.
(Spoiler: They never find the kits :c)
Blossomkit trampled around in circles in the nursery's clearing, right now was the only moment she'd been begging to StarClan to become an apprentice. "Blossy, your legs are going to fall off if you keep continuing like this," Eaglekit teased. "Shush," Blossomkit chided and continued.
the twin kits tackled and batted at each other near by in the den growling playfully.
''rawr!'' they both shouted and collided with a teeth gritting thud as they head-budded each other by accident.
''ow..'' muttered the she-kit.
''ouch...'' moaned the tom-kit.
both got up and tackled one another growling once again.
