What about a fishing area? It could behave about the same way as the tree does in that you cast your line and just wait. It'd be a way to obtain certain rarer water types, like the ones which are rod-exclusive ingame [people might even be able to reel in water starters as a super rare event? or if there's bait implemented, maybe by using a special hard-to-get kind] but perhaps you could also reel in treasures, like valuables to sell (pearls, star pieces, etc) or certain evo items (probably stones?).
Also, it could be added into the Route 53 page, a split-path setup where you can check the pond/river/what have you or the tree.
Of course parts of this overall could be scrapped due to being unecessary/overpowered/difficult to implement. I just figured I should share it, because why not. u__u;;

yes, there is the honeytree but maybe, if you're not lucky with it cause the honey was eaten, you may try your luck with fishing.
fishing at different places at the pond would be interesting.
and maybe a feature like increasing the chance for a catch by adding a Berry to the Rod, would be nice, so the Berries would have another use.
would also like to get a medal for the heaviest/biggest Magikarp caught in the pond or even a prize =p
maybe you could add a place where you can weight them, based on luck, with a random number generated. would also work for an event.
an alternative idea could be "guess the weight", a fisherman wants you to guess the weight of his latest Magikarp catch.
and the prize depends on how close you are to the real weight.
the fisherman could speak different sentences like:

hidden content
"I see... keep on trying" --> you are way too far from the real weight, you win nothing
"Nice try, you were close" --> you win a low value item or some baits
"You almost got it" --> you win something of a middle rarity
"Congratz, you did it!"--> you guessed the right weight and win a rare item

And then there could be 'legit' Bait, which could guarantee you a certain rarity catch instead of leaving you up to random chance. Of course, you'd need to find it through specific means or events like Honey Jars, or if the Shop is selling it you'd need to pay out the nose for it. It wouldn't be easy!

yeah, sounds good, i agree, there should be at least a bit effort on that. or it may be limited like you can only go fishing every 3 hours.
or add raging Gyarados that entangle your fishing line from time to time =p
i like the idea of different baits somehow.

I'm pretty sure I haven't seen anything like this on other PokeHeroes type sites. This would really make it unique!

I disagree about the Red Gyarados, CometandAqua, cause we have the Red Gyarados as a shiny...

As for wait times, I'd agree on that if it was like... a minimum amount. If the system is behaving the same as the Tree, you're waiting either way, and it'd be a little unfair to have someone waiting hours for something to bite and then be told they can't cast again for however long.
But if there's say a 1 hour minimum wait, if you catch something in 20 minutes you'd only have to wait out the next 40 before casting again. (maybe with the excuse that you have to untangle your line, ahaha)
I'm glad you guys are liking it so far! ;w; I was worried I'd come off sounding dumb or something.

In the game you just put the line in the water, but here we could indeed use a bait of some sort.

and maybe like in the game, you could buy rod upgrades and be able to catch better pokemon. (( i remember this is Ruby and saphire i dont remember if you can in the newer games or not ))
