The Night Shift (1x1)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Private RP → The Night Shift (1x1)Elvira was the first to wake up and she gently moved closer to Roxy's back to cuddle, and she nuzzled into the crook of Roxy's neck trying to go back to sleep.
Nat was caught in a rough dream, and her body reacted accordingly. Her skin grew thick scales, her hands came to look more like those of a chameleon, and her face was something akin to a turtle. She had thick spines coming from her backbone and it ended in the tail of a crocodile.
Angel slept peacefully and unaware of Nat's discomfort.
Danny, attuned to Nat, woke and groggily looked around. Spotting his friend, he laid a hand over her hand. "Hey...it's okay," he mumbled, mind still foggy with sleep. "Nat, I'm here," he muttered, looking around but spotting nothing of danger nearby.
Nat flinched as his hand was placed on hers, and after a moment she opened her eyes, her breathing still rapid. "Danny?" She sat up quickly and looked around seemingly confused before she let out a sigh and shifted herself back into her human shape. She was shaking a little as she took a deep breath and sniffled as she worked to not cry. "Thank you..."
Nat shifted back into her human form so he didn't hurt himself on her spines, and so she didn't hurt him with her claws. "I was back in a cage for a zoo... They were throwing things... The people... They laughed at me... Some screamed and called me things..." She sniffled as she curled into him, slowly shifting down into the bearded dragon shape that he loves.
Danny shook with anger but held her close, reassuringly. "Never. If by some insane happenstance you ever have to go back to some evil place like that, I am going with you. You can be a small gecko or a newt and I will keep you safe. Then get us out, being a teleporter." No one, absolutely no one, was going to get away with hurting Nat. Not if Danny had any say about it. He was sure the rest of their family felt the same way.
Angel opened her eyes to find sunlight pushing against the window blinds, but there wasn't anywhere they needed to be today so she let them slide closed as she adjusted her head on the pillow.
Nat's form elongated and she lost her legs as she enveloped him in a huge hug as an anaconda. A huge, but gentle hug. With those words Danny had chased away the fear that her past had brought to the surface. She only hoped that she could be there if his parents came into the picture again.
Snuggling closer, Sebastian sought Angels warmth as he slept on. It was a wonderful dream. One where his family, the new and the old, lived together. Peacefully and with new additions. At least two young voices giggled through his mind, chasing after each other.
Danny hugged her back, getting his tails in on the motion. "I got you, Nat. Just like you got me. Thick and thin."
Angel smiled as she felt him move, and she began to slip back into sleep listening to his heart beating in time with hers.
Nat gave him a gentle squeeze before she shifted into a gecko and moved up to perch on his shoulder.
Reaching out in the dream, Sebastian tugged Angel into his, happy to share the moment.
Danny smiled, standing and stretching. "What should we do now?"
Angel smiled in her sleep as she joined Sebastian in his dream.
Nat released him as he stood up and she shifted back into her human form sitting on the floor. "I don't know. Everyone else is likely still sleeping..."
