Firelight snorts. "Whoa there tiger, I wont let the clan know that the great and mighty Shadedfur feels pain." He laughs, placing two poppy seeds in front of her. "Eat up, you'll be fine. And for the record, welcome back. You may have only been gone for a little bit, but we've missed you."

The she-cat huffed but an amused purr rose in her throat. "Thanks." The small seeds were lapped up and crunched between her teeth. "Do you think Whiteleap is the right cat to be deputy? He's kind and loyal, I don't doubt that. But it takes more than that to take on leadership." Shadedfur rested her chin on her paws and closed her eyes. "There are many things that need to be done, and I don't think any of them are being taken care of."

"Well I cant say for myself, but I don't think Whiteleap was Flintstar's choice. If starclan didn't want him to be deputy, they would have showed a sign to me or Flintstar." He rests his paw on her shoulder gently. "Don't get me wrong, you would have made a good deputy as well, but maybe there was a reason Whiteleap was chosen instead." He looked up at the sky. "We just have to trust in starclan, alright?" he says, giving Shadedfur's forehead a quick, comforting lick. "The clan has been in troubled times lately, so I can see why you think nothing is getting done, but we can't rush it. Patrols will be done, apprentices trained, I'll do my job, and the warriors will as well. We'll be alright, and in time I hope this will become a home you're proud of again."

Her usually ferocious gaze was glazed over, be it by the tom's gentle words or the sedation of the poppy seeds. "But the camp walls should be fortified with all the predators in our territory recently." Her jaws opened in a large yawn. "The badger's body should be taken care of before it attracts scavengers, the boarder along the berry patches hasn't been properly patrolled in days. Rosepetal's kits are due any day so the apprentices should soften her nest."

"Cats without direction get hurt... Cats without..." Her eyes slowly closed against her will. "Cats without order... Die..." Her words trailed off softly before she fell into a poppy induced slumber.

Firelight smiles as he sees Shadedfur drift off, and he whispers "Perhaps Whiteleap would appreciate your help, after all he's only one cat, he cant do everything" in her ear before curling up in his own nest.

Meanwhile, whiteleap found his apprentice. "Streampaw, why don't you go check on Rosepetal, shes close to her kitting and she might appreciate a young cat's company. Make sure you be polite, and help her in any way."

Rosepetal shifted in her nest, using sore paws to push the moss around. It was starting to get stale and any other queen would have thrown a fit, but she never raised her voice. "Hush my little ones," she soothed, licking her belly slowly. "Rest now, we'll eat later."

Foxstep shuffled her paws in the starry bushes and waited. She looked up and spotted the faint image of Firelight appearing. She slowly padded out of the bushes and over to him. "Hello Firelight."

Fern snapped out of her trance-like state in the forest, surprised to have the beginning of tears in her eyes. She quickly wiped them away, taking a moment to reestablish her cheerful demeanor. She had no time to think about the past, she had a new clan now. A second chance. With a shake of her head, Fern dismissed the memories and negative thoughts from her mind. With a sigh, she glanced up at the sky. It had become cloudy, it looked like it might rain soon. She walked back to camp, wondering if she would still have any time to catch a bird or two for her friends.
