Hogwarts-School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Hogwarts-School of Witchcraft and WizardryHe was rather pleased to see that he wasn't the only one in the castle with an eccentric appearance, figuring that, if a Professor was dyeing their hair, they could hardly complain about his. Besides, gold eyes were fairly cool. Noticing that someone else was already crushing snake fangs, and that the list on the board did call for such, he decided to do the same - his partner could do something else. I wonder what would happen if our potion were to have a different species of snake's fangs added? Would there be a difference?

Mia looked up at the rather eccentric looking professor with interest. ‘Well, that's certainly a result you could get if you messed around in Potions.'
‘What?‘Felicity asked.
'Nothing. Go back to sleep.'
As the professor finished announcing today's task, Mia minutely shook her head. It was easy for her, granted her solitude for the past few years being used for learning the curriculum. She crushed the snake fangs, waiting for her partner, the just as eccentric looking Ravenclaw boy, Arashi, to fill the cauldron.
Clarisse didn't look at that Hufflepuff girl she had as a partner (or was she in Gryffindor?). She had remembered the girl from gossip rumors, but that was it. The one whose hair went on fire or something. She continued to chop the red-orange Lepapa berries for the first potion. The dim light of the room wasn't quite enough for Clarisse to see well (she needed to work on that), causing her to double-slice a piece and make it 0.5 of an inch.
She muttered a cuss word under her breath without thinking. Professor Lacroma came behind her with a stern look. Apparently he was one of those ''super-eared'' teachers. "Watch your words, Clarisse. You may be able to say such things in front of your house Headmaster, Professor Monev, but not in front of me." He chided. "Yes, sir." Clarisse grumbled in a tone that lacked perkiness. She dropped the flawed berry slices into the cauldron, which made her hands utterly sticky.
The snake fangs in no time at all were crushed into a fine powder. Callie felt her body take over, sort of going auto-pilot. She was in her domain, with the soft almost overpowering fumes and the gentle hissing of potions as they were stirred. In this place, she was in control.
Nothing and nobody else existed as Callie worked on her parts of the potion. Four precise measures of the fine powder were quickly added to the water in the cauldron. When her partner accidentally double-sliced a berry, Callie quickly took extra measures by adding a few countering ingredients not included in the instructions. She instinctively took out her wand, prodding a fire to existence under her cauldron. She had what one would call a "sixth sense" for judging temperatures, and the contents of the cauldron were bubbling in no time at all.
Callisto sped through the rest of the instructions, not even bothering to re-check them, completely sure of herself. She was, however, extra careful to take the cauldron off the fire before tossing in the porcupine quills. She learned that the hard way. Finally finished with her part of the work, Callie found Professor Lacroma peering at their cauldron with an approving look on his face.
"Good work, girls," He commented. "Five points for Slytherin and Gryffindor."
So her partner was a Slytherin, eh? Callie waited until her partner was finished working before she spoke. "You didn't seem to be the type to be in Slytherin," she whispered bluntly.
The blonde didn't send her any rude remarks when they first sat, so Callie figured she wasn't one of those blood supremacists who needed a reality check. Who knew? She might actually make a friend out of a Slytherin, who weren't exactly the most trustworthy since the second Wizarding War.
"My name's Callisto. Half-blood," she introduced quietly, waiting for a reaction.

Clarisse didn't hesitate to answer. "I'm Clarisse. Nice to meet you, Callisto. And trust me, I'd love to know why the Sorting Hat put me in Slytherin." She said, although the message was pretty clear about that Slytherin comment; She could make a lot of insults about her house. Clarisse was rather confused about the choice. She didn't have that Slytherin look in her eyes. She couldn't do that look. As she added the dried nettles, she wondered what the potion was for and pulled out her Book of Potions by Zygmunt Budge. She skimmed the chapter quickly. Cure for Boils. She thought.

Blowing her now red and gold hair out of her face, she took a pinch of the dust and threw it into the cauldron, summoning up some nice steamy effects. "To counter-react the tendency of the potion burning off your skin," She explained.
Noticing her partner was looking through a potions book, Callie shook her head inwardly. "Those new potion books are sometimes bad news. Most of the time they give wrong instructions and make the hardest potions explode in your face," she added dully, tugging at a strand of red hair, hoping it would revert back to normal.
(Its short, but I'm tired)
"Very well," she replied, as she took the dried nettles out of her potions kit.
'Hey, Mia?' Felicity asked.
'What is it, Felicity?'
'I don't know if you've noticed, but I can sense your Metamorphmagi magics at work. What did you do?'
To her horror, Mia took a strand of her now grey hair. Oh, gods. She now looked around at the class, most of which were still trying to crush their snake fangs properly. She reverted her hair back to auburn as Professor Lacroma suddenly appeared in front of her. She reddened as the nettles went flying, flicking her wand to collect them together again.
"Did you want something, professor?" Mia asked as politely as she could.
"No, Ms. Grey, but you ought to ensure that these do not go flying off again."
"Yes, sir," she murmured as she added the dried nettles, before quickly adding the icky Flubberworm mucus, stirring it as she took out a vial of horned slugs and some Porcupine quills, hoping that her partner wouldn't mind the sudden skip in ingredients and maybe not notice the....change that had occurred.

Timmy is flawlessly crushing the Snake Fangs and reading the Potions book at the same time. It was just like helping his mom make Cheesecake. "It's just like cooking..." Timmy thought.
He ended up getting paired up with that blonde Gryffindor girl, since practically everyone else was seating with their friends. She had been the last seat, since Timmy was the last to get there.
The girl wasn't talking, or showing any signs of emotion. She was just adding the crushed Snake Fangs to the bowl, as Timmy was now getting the Horned Slugs and the Porcupine Quills.
Timmy looked up, looking for that Mia girl. He wondered if Mia knew that he knew about her "ability." Yesterday in the Great Hall, he'd seen weird stuff happen. Like at random moments, her hair would turn Crimson, or curl a bit.
5 points have also been awarded to Gryffindor and Slytherin, Clarrise and Callisto have found out a bit more about each other and suspicion of Mia has also been aroused in Professor Lacroma (Potions Professor)}
Alyss is putting in the two Porcupine Quills and the four Horned Slugs, while Timmy stirs them without thinking. Timmy's eyes glance over at Mia, when Mia suddenly glares at him. "Oops! Staring is rude..." he thought.
Professor Lacroma walks over to the table where the both of them are sitting. "Not bad, Sir De Jesus and Miss Treaty."
<By the way, each student should have good and bad subjects. Like Timmy:
Great
Transfiguration
Astronomy
Good
Potions
Defense Against the Dark Arts
Okay
Charms
History of Magic
Bad
Herbology
There's also Horrible, but Timmy isn't horrible at any subjects.
He's also pretty good at flying.>
