Right. Ok. She walked over standing near-ish to a group of them. "Uhm." she cleared her throat a little and Luaith came up next to her leg, gently nuzzling his little Cyndaquil head against her for support. "Uhm, does anyone know where, uhm, a shop would be? For, uhm. Food and things? I have some basics in my room, but. Uhm." She stumbled a little through her words. "Uhm I was hoping to get...get some more...other things...because, uhm. There's only. Things like, eggs, and bread, and such. Was hoping to get more vegetables...and...uhm." She trailed off, looking down at the ground as a blush of embarrassment tinged her pale cheeks. She glanced up past her bangs, her right eye dark purple, the left dark blue, seeking out some hope for retribution before looking back down at the ground. Lasair perked up and ran around Tine's feet twice. "Over there, over there! Food!" before darting off. Tine frowned and looked after the bright Litten. There was some kind of stall over there. With food, yes, but...Tine frowned. She still didn't have any money for goodness sake! As she made her way up to the stall, keeping an eye around her for anyone - the street was rather empty - she heard the little old lady's voice as she leaned over the counter, looking down at Lasair. "Well hello there little Litten, and where did you come running from, hm?" Tine froze, this would be her first real talk with a person since...then. She didn't. She didn't know what to do? Lasair jumped up and down a little bit, tail and ears twitching, chanting "food! food! food! hungry! hungry! hungry!" - though to the lady it just sounded like mewling yelps. "S-s-sorry that...that my Litten is...is bothering...bothering you...Ma'am..." Tine stammered a little as she inched another few steps forward, eyes glued to the ground. "Ohh~! And who do we have here? A cute little Litten like this, willful as they are, got away from you, hm? Oh don't you worry, no bothering here. Why don't the two of you come around the side and we can have a nice meal, hm? Then you can introduce yourself to me and I can tell you all about Littens and how to tame them, how's that sound?" The little old lady bustled off towards the side door as Tine froze once again, her breath caught in her throat. Was this lady being...nice? Was there something behind this?! No, she couldn't look this gift horse in the mouth. She would get food out of this. She would get information out of this. She glanced down at herself. She could pass herself off as a teenager, she was scrawny and short enough. Just play stupid. She was good at that. Hiding her smarts. She could do that. She mumbled to Lasair "Come on, let's get some food..." and moved around the stall, which seemed attached to a squat little building. - 2 hours later - Tine and Lasair exited the building, stomachs full, a new friend(?) made, a "Cooking For Newbies" book, and a promise to come back. And a LOT of half-truths told. But that didn't matter. What mattered was the food. And the information! The book was nice too. As the two made their way back to Tine's room, Tine found herself smiling a little. "Maybe this isn't too bad after all..." Tayla looked over at Luaith and tipped her head to the side. "Maybe we should go find a store and get some more ingredients, you know? I mean, I have a little bit of cash from home, Mommah would never let me leave home empty handed but...hrm. I don't really know how much things cost." She frowns and puts her hands on her hips. "Never know until you try!" She nods affirmatively. "Alright Luaith, let's go! Adventure starts now!" She starts packing up and getting ready to head out. It...takes her about half an hour, but that's alright. She pulls her coat on, pulls her bag up onto her shoulders and heads for the door. Luaith follows along, content to follow Tayla's lead. He knew she would take a while to get ready, but he was patient. At least he wouldn't lose her, what with the bright orange backpack she had on. Tayla makes sure the door is closed and locked and turns around, squinting at the area. Now...now she's confused. Where should she go? She didn't know where anything was... But no matter! Lasair poked its head up, blinking its bright orange eyes and giving a big yawn. "But I don't wanna~" it complained. Tine smiled as she completed a quick scrub of herself in the bathroom, then gave herself a good once over in the mirror. She really looked like crap. She was going to need quite a few more 'good' nights of sleep before she started to recover - and food, her body reminded her, as her stomach snarled. She finished up in the bathroom and headed back into the other room, frowning a little bit at the kitchen area. She hadn't the slightest idea how to cook anything. "Maybe we should go try and find ourselves some food." She murmured as she went and grabbed her coat and headed out the door, Lasair bounding along behind. Tayla was up bright and early, doing her morning routines. Cold shower, brush teeth, hot shower, face wash, makeup, clothes on, clean up the room! Everything had to be precisely where she wanted it. Luaith, the cyndaquil, watched Tayla go through her motions from his little pillow on the window seat. He was patient, he understood that Tayla had to do her things. Even if he was hungry. She'd finish soon enough and then, finally, maybe, they'd be able to eat... Soon enough Tayla did, in fact, finish with her morning rituals. "I'm starving!" She glanced over at Luaith, "you're probably pretty hungry yourself, aren't you." She said with a smile as she moved into the kitchen and began cooking up some food. "It's so nice of them to leave us with some basics. But I'm going to need more! More ingredients! There's only basics here." She shook her head and then reached up and brushed her hair back again. After cooking up a nice little breakfast she brought a plate over to the window seat and set it down next to Luaith, who leaned down and began daintily eating. She shook her head a little, dismissing the ruminating thoughts. She would not fall prey to her memories. Clean slate. This was her new life. She could reinvent herself. Be...be a fully new person. She barely remembered anything about herself from Back Then anyways, so it was pointless to even think about it. And at that place? No, those thoughts were better left in the dark and dusty recesses of her mind. Tine sighed quietly and curled up tighter, pressing herself more firmly into the corner, dodging the streak of pale moonlight filtering in through her window, splashing against her short red hair. *'These window coverings are...insufficient...'* she thought to herself as her orange eyes flitted across the room - again - surveying everything in it. It was a boring room, but it was more than she had had in...years. Maybe this place would...be...ok....Maybe. She dozed off - for the moment at least. Tayla tucked her black, with a soft purple sheen, hair behind her ears and surveyed her room, heterochromatic eyes taking in everything. Her right eye dark purple, the left dark blue. She had set things up exactly how she wanted it. Books here, pillows there, bag over there, all according to the grand scheme of things. Even down to the blankets neatly settled on the bed, the clothes hung tidily in the closet. With her hands on her hips, her bottom lip bitten firmly, but not too hard, between her teeth - a bad habit she's had since she was little - and a frown creasing her brow, she went through the mental checklist of things...again. For the twentieth or so time. This had to be perfect! She had to prove she was capable of doing this. She was an adult for goodness sake! Ok, almost an adult anyways - but close enough! She finally finished the checklist and nodded. "Alright. Good. Done. It's good. Now, I can go to sleep. Finally! What a day it's been. Jeeze! I'm exhausted." She said with a sigh. She had already changed into her pajamas, so she turned off the light, made sure the door was closed properly, and then went and climbed into bed, curling up and snuggling down under her blankets.
