Hanako quietly sat down next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder in comfort. "I bet that was scary. Trust me," he said, dropping his gaze for a moment, "I would know."

With another sigh, but still smiling, Hanako wet a washcloth at the kitchen sink and crouched down next to Spyder, gently pulling one of her hands away from her face. "Spyder, right? I'm Hanako. Here, why don't you wash up a bit," he said kindly, handing her the damp cloth. "I know you didn't mean to do that. It's alright, I'm not going to do anything to you."

Hanako raised an eyebrow as she changed form and ran out. Hm. Maybe better than Tsukasa after all. Figuring it would be bad for someone super involved to go after her, Hanako sighed and held up a hand as if to stop everyone else. “Let me give this a shot. If she doesn’t respond to me, I’ll come back and let you know.” With that, he left the group, eventually catching up with the distraught creature. “Hello...uh, Spyder, was it?” Letting his cape form fall away, Hanako gave her a smile. “I’m Hanako. And I’m not going to hurt you or yell at you, or anything.”

Hanako, though admittedly a little indifferent to the death of a complete stranger from another world, did NOT like where this was going. Whoever- no, whatever that thing was, it was reminding him way too strongly of a certain brother of his. Well, he reasoned dryly, at least it wasn't any more than he was used to dealing with. Tsukasa...had done worse. "Haku-joudai," he muttered quietly, holding out a hand as if to beckon the spirit that transformed him. The folds of his cape gently sweeping behind him, Hanako calmly stretched out his arm, pointing the knife at the murderous creature. His world or not, he felt as though this was close enough to count as his job. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

Casually pulling a knife from his pocket, Hanako grinned at Beatrice. "More like getting rid of anything trying to cause trouble. I actually have a human assistant, but yes, there are rules about how the two sides can interact."

Hanako smiled, tipping his head to the side. "Close enough," he said, shrugging. "I'm an apparition, and in my world, I have a duty to maintain balance between those like me and the living."

"I'm also dead," Hanako offered, not really wanting to jump into the whole family side of the story. He knew quite well how monstrous people could be.

Nene giggled, happy to see 'Ri so excited about something. Both of them seemed to have had a long first day, but honestly, she was kind of glad for an excuse to just let loose and relax. Most of her professors had given some admittedly terrifying speeches about how important O.W.L.'s were, leaving Nene with lots of stress. Messing around with 'Ri and pranking some of the Hufflepuff boys did sound like a great way to get her mind off of things for a while. "Well, alright, I guess I can't argue with that," she relented, nudging her friend warmly. "So, who're the masterminds who inspired this? You said...uh, Yugi? Something like that?" Craning her head to look behind 'Ri, she let her gaze wander over the Ravenclaw table. "What do they look like?"

Having finished up, Tsukasa leapt up from his spot, bouncing in place eagerly as he waited for Amane. The longer they stayed here, the more excited he was getting; what an interesting year this was going to be! From a deadpanning, staring Ravenclaw to an apparently mischievous pair of Hufflepuff girls, this was shaping up to be a great time. Glancing over at the Hufflepuff table, he let out a small gasp as he locked eyes with one of the students, a girl with blonde hair and a curious smile. "Hey Amane, I guess we're popular, huh? There's another person staring at us. That makes two today," Tsukasa noted. Amane raised an eyebrow, standing up to join his brother. "Huh? Who?"

Hanako nodded to Beatrice and Annabelle, raising an eyebrow slightly at the talking flower's cynical attitude. What on earth got that thing in a twist? It didn't seem to be...an apparition, really, but there was something very unusual about it that made him wary. "Your dad?" Well, that explained how they were connected to "Four". "Why are you looking for him, then?"

Hanako sighed, stopping. Was the only thing these guys did fight each other? "Um, guys. Does anyone want to explain who Four is?"

Torn between being amused by the banter between all of the random people - well, creatures? - around him, being offended at everyone's distaste with humans (even if he was technically an apparition now), and being confused about who Four was supposed to be (last time he checked, Number Four had in fact not followed him here), Hanako jumped with the others upon hearing the shout and loud noises. "That sounds...unfortunate," he said, although he didn't look too bothered by it. Shrugging, he followed Wirt.

"Mildly dangerous?" A white wisp was suddenly followed by a grinning young boy with choppy brown hair, a black school uniform, and a strange patch on his left cheek. "Count me in. What is this, by the way, and what are we doing?" He'd been immensely surprised to find a new path suddenly open up in his world, drawing him to whatever this place was; some sort of pocket dimension he guessed, judging by the very strange array of people that he now saw in front of him. "Name's Hanako, by the way."

Amane was interrupted from his hamburger by being tightly hugged from behind. Coughing slightly, he patted his brother's hands, managing to squeak out a hello before Tsukasa let go. "Next time, please warn me," he said, shaking his head but smiling all the same as Tsukasa just shrugged and sat down next to him. The two hadn't been able to meet up for lunch after all, as a career counseling meeting for Tsukasa dragged him away from the dining hall that afternoon. Instead, Amane had arranged to meet the Hufflepuff girl, 'Ri, after dinner, though he had yet to tell his brother about it. "Tsukasa, listen. You're going to love what I've got planned for tonight."

"Oh?" That had certainly gotten the Slytherin boy's attention, hand halfway to his mouth clutching a biscuit. Leaning confidentially towards his twin, Amane explained in a hushed voice about the "Prot-egg-oh" mishap and the resulting spell. The more he revealed the plan, the wider Tsukasa's grin got. "So. We're going to meet the Hufflepuff and her friend and turn the spell into a real spell to prank everyone." Giggling and clutching Amane's arm, the boy simply started to scarf food down as fast as he could, showing his eagerness to get to the 'meeting' ahead of them. Though he rolled his eyes, Amane began to eat faster as well.

Nene raised an eyebrow at her best friend. While this wasn't exactly unusual for 'Ri, it was also not Nene's typical vein of troublemaking. "Wait, so...you messed up a spell in class, and now you want to...take all the yolks out of eggs?" Although she understood the hilarity of the situation in class (how nice of that one Ravenclaw to help her out!), she had to admit she didn't really see the point of messing up perfectly good eggs. "But what are you going to do with it all? And isn't it messy?" Despite her doubts, her curiosity had already gotten the better of her. "I mean, of course I'm going, anyways," she said, grinning. 'Ri was her best friend, after all. Whatever random mess one of them got in, eventually the other one would be dragged in, so might as well just speed up the process.

Despite being taller than several of the Pokemon around her, Bridgette still felt so young and inexperienced in the crowd gathered by the ghost-type in front of her. Listening quietly (for once) to the conversation, she felt conflicted. It certainly was a nice thing to be under the cover of darkness, and she understood the logic, but there was something about the loss of the sun - the key to her move Photosynthesis - that made her a bit uneasy. Without Sunny Day, it would be harder to defend herself if the humans attacked. But maybe that was another idea in the making. "Um," Bridgette spoke up, tilting her head as her leaf blew slightly in the breeze, "would it be a good idea to take advantage of weather, too? I think humans have a hard time with rough weather, like heat and cold. Maybe we can group by that, like a rain group and a heat group. It would be confusing for them to have different weather in a small area, right?"

Oh my gosh, this girl was awesome. First, joining in on puns? Second, suggesting a potentially disastrous experiment? Tsukasa was in for a fun surprise. “Done,” he shot back, grinning widely. “You and your best friend are amazing, then. You remember my brother, right? He’s going to have a field day when he realizes that he’s got two new accomplices.” A very mundane morning was quickly turning into one of the most entertaining starts to a school year he’d ever experienced.

Amane knew EXACTLY where she was going with that. “Scrambled eggs,” he whispered in awe. This girl was clearly a genius. Flitwick startled him slightly, but he simply shrugged. “A bit un-egg-spected, but nothing we couldn’t handle,” Amane said, cracking a small joke and grinning. “I think they’re egg whites.” If he’d doubted Tsukasa’s potential interest in this new ‘spell’, he sure didn’t now; his brother would definitely find some way to turn it into an instant-breakfast incantation. Looking over ‘Ri, he was satisfied to note that she, and her surrounding area, was egg-free. “You have to admit, this was at least an egg-citing start to the day,” Amane said, unable to resist.

Amane did his very best not to laugh, even if the Hufflepuff deserved it. Instead, he simply continued drying her, this time clearing the goop away rather than dry her hair. “Pro-tay-goh,” he said, giving her an amused smile. He was going to have the time of his life trying out the “egg goo” variant on Tsukasa later, though. His twin, knowing him, would probably have it made into a concrete, working spell by dinner, if it piqued his interest enough. “Sorry,” Amane said after a minute or two. “This stuff is pretty gross; I didn’t mean to startle you or anything, though. You just looked really out of it,” he explained, leaning to the side to clear the last few strands off of her shoulder. “Kind of my fault though. Sorry again.”

Amane yawned. Despite his enjoyment of Charms and his excitement about the new year, school...was still school, after all. And it was much too early for anyone to be awake at this hour. He stole a glance at the clock. Only a few hours until lunch, though, and then he could meet up with Tsukasa. Cheered slightly by this fact, he scanned through the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws in the class, not recognizing many of them. By the time students reached their fifth year, it was more common to mix houses during classes, as people began to specialize more. Amane was only in this class because of his proficiency with charms, but even so, it was only the first day, so introductions were the most eventful thing on the schedule.

Startled out of his thoughts by someone just barely making it to class on time, Amane was surprised to recognize Hurricane, the girl he'd seen at Malkins'. Glad to know someone else, he noted the very frazzled expression on her face. He could sympathize; he wasn't the best morning person, either. Quietly whipping out his wand, Amane decided a little practice couldn't hurt. Reciting the incantation - Aridam - in his mind, he began drying off the poor girl. A slightly mischievous smirk passed across his face as he wondered how long it would take for her to notice.

Waiting impatiently for the stairs to move again, Nene looked around. There were several students who were either late or lost, racing desperately across the maze of hallways. In the chaos, it was hard to notice anyone stand out, besides those who were just...well, standing. A blue swish of fabric caught her eye. A few paces away, a Ravenclaw boy looked quite as though he had a headache. She had enough time to at least see if she could help. "Uh...excuse me? I- sorry," she said, almost regretting her decision as she remembered how awkward she was. "I was just wondering, are you alright? I'm Nene Yashiro. Do you need anything?"

-

Tsukasa was b-o-r-e-d. And that meant trouble. Well - usually, it did. Today he was trying to be on his best behavior. It might be totally worth it around midterms, but there was no sense in getting detention on the first day; Amane would be so disappointed. But it was almost worth it, if it meant he could get out of Muggle Studies. Why had he signed up for this class, again? Ah, that's right. He'd wanted to see what magical people thought of non-magical people, from their point of view. He hadn't realized that it would be this dull. Resting his head on his desk, he fought back a long sigh. Just a little longer, and then he'd be free.

It was a nice feeling, watching the first-year relax a bit and finally begin to enjoy herself. The last thing Amane wanted was for this wonderful school to be a source of worry for someone. As they finished their meal, he heard someone else speak up; however, by the time he'd turned around to join the conversation, the kid was already walking away. How...odd. Shrugging, Amane stood up and stretched. "So, are you ready to head up to the dorms? It's a bit of a climb, but trust me, the view is so worth it." Ravenclaw Tower. Possibly one of his favorite places on earth; the nighttime scenery was so brilliant that sometimes he'd stay up there all night, just gazing up at the moon.

"Oh, that's a good idea," Nene said, recalling the various pots that lined the common room's windowsills and tables. Now that she thought about it, there were a lot of Hufflepuffs who liked Herbology - or perhaps, she thought with a small giggle, they just liked Professor Longbottom. Happily scarfing down some pasta and cooked carrots, Nene gave a satisfied sigh. No matter what ominous things the hat said, she was sure that this would be a good year. Smiling, she stood up and grabbed 'Ri's hand, stopping her from tapping it repeatedly. "Don't worry, I'm ready to go, 'Ri! No need to keep at your drum solo. Even if it's a great one," she teased, pulling her friend to her feet. She was eager to settle into the dorm and get a good night's sleep.
