	You only need to "hatch" the Pokémon egg (i.e. obtain the "egg" dex entry).. selling the actual Pokémon doesn't affect it. The "Egg dex" part will help you unlock the Pokémon at the "Tall Grass" area for you, considering that you have also bought the correct radar chip (i.e. starter, etc.) for your Egg Radar. 	@lortemarianne : Yes, you needed to obtain the egg dex of the Pokémon or hatch the Pokémon egg first.. before they will become available at the "Tall Grass" area, if you also have the proper radar chips for them. ~~With the exception for the Egg Radar Chip (Legend), since you also needed to activate a Summon Item for that to work..~~ [Read more]

It depends on what you prioritize of doing..

Egg Radar Chips works with an Egg Radar.. and, if you also have the Egg Dex entries or "hatched" the Pokémon in the same rarity as of those chips (i.e. easy, etc.) that you'll buy with it. Then, it'll unlock the "Tall Grass" area for you.

The PokéRadar works after buying its batteries, turning it ON and hatching the first Egg for your shiny hunt.. then, hatching the same kind of Egg until you hatch your shiny. Then, it'll reset your chain if you didn't upgrade into a Premium Account yet.
