Nakanotorishima CastleCurrent Time: Evening (Day) | Prologue The Game has yet to begin. Everyone may speak and act freely. "This is utterly ridiculous. What could possibly be the cause of this incident?" "...I have not a clue. The mermaids have been very persistent in their nagging, even after I have assured them the rain will cease soon." "Nagging is quite possibly all they are good at. Contracts cannot be reversed, as you know, so there is no use in taking their words with importance. What is important is the salt within the foul rain cast upon us." "That I am aware of. Whatever magical property it contains will surely destroy our island if not properly neutralized in time." "That is likely correct. Please, if you could, request Iroha to search the island for any contaminants that could have washed up from the Expanse. I will attend to other matters for now." "Alright. Then I will look into anything that might be related to rain that the mermaids might know about." Irohahime UchiumiIroha lightly sighed as she traversed through the all-too-familiar forests of Nakanotorishima. Being the one that was always assigned the boring tasks really sucked. Being stuck on an island for thousands of years and possibly thousands more also really sucked. She actually semi-welcomed the change in scenery a little. Rain was hard to come by on the distant island, only forming when Amehime used her freshwater-summoning powers to water all the plants on the island at once. She found it mildly more interesting than listening to the stories of humans that one day found themselves on the phantom island. Before they inevitably got bewitched by Mirahime and turned into mermaids, of course. It was quite unfortunate for them, but that was the harsh reality. Nothing that discovered Nakanotorishima could leave, so they might as well make themselves comfortable on the island. Iroha spotted something out of the corner of her eye as she reached the shores of the island. It was...a camp? Settlement? Something of that sort, surely. She would have to tell this to Amehime when she returned back to the castle, but for now, maybe she could have a little fun. Before Amehime murdered them all or something. "Heyyyy, fellow creatures of self-awareness~ May I ask what you guys are doing on this island?" (Night will start when all characters have spoken at least once. The actual "mafia" part of the roleplay will start at the beginning of the next day.) [Read more] |

(i hit the character limit for the title) How This Roleplay Works: Show
hidden content
Welcome to this Mafia roleplay, which
a variant of the classic party game Mafia. In this roleplay,
each participating character is secretly assigned a role that is
either associated with the town or
the mafia. The mafia eliminates one town member per night while masquerading as
ordinary citizens during the day.
The roleplay is divided into two parts: night and day. During the night, mafia members secretly plan to murder a town member and devise a devious day-time strategy. During the day, the entire cast of surviving players debate who among them is aligned with the mafia and votes to execute someone. The game alternates between these two phases until either all of the mafia are eliminated (town wins) or the number of remaining mafia members equals or exceeds the number of remaining town members (mafia wins). The Shores of NakanotorishimaNakanotorishima is an island, and as such it is surrounded by sand. Soft, smooth sand, untouched for eons. Sand of the most pristine quality, even. You can only marvel at the transcendent beauty of each granule, flawlessly shaped by the ethereal freshwater waves of the Expanse. I'll spare you the details. Mussels, clams, shells, driftwood, and the like are scattered across the beaches elegantly. Crabs, (freshwater) starfish, and the occasional tortoise or turtle might sometimes be spotted as well, adding to the already picturesque scenery. Beside the lazy sands of the shores are the Forests, which make up most of Nakanotorishima's landscape. The Forests of NakanotorishimaThe forests surround the inner parts of Nakanotorishima with dense, lush vegetation. Trees and plants of all sizes thrive in this idyllic paradise, with narrow rays of sun/moonlight shining through the small gaps between leaves illuminating the forest floor. All sorts of animals and organisms, from squirrels to mushrooms to birds to deer to even larger animals, but there seems to be an unsettling absence of humanlike animals. Many ponds litter the forest as well, inhabited by amphibians such as frogs and toads, along with many more others. Beyond the forests lies Lake Kurage, a large freshwater lake inhabited by all sorts of aquatic organisms. Lake KurageLake Kurage is the largest lake on Nakanotorishima, populated by all sorts of aquatic animals. Fish, eels, turtles, crayfish, and even fabled mermaids reside anywhere from the sparkling surface, to the bright upper layer, to even the dark depths of the lake. From the surface, it is difficult to discern, but on particular nights where the moon is bright, a spire of sorts could be seen shining radiantly from the bottom of the lake. Perhaps it is some remnant of a past mermaid civilization, or perhaps one that is thriving at this very moment. But all that is not as important as the main point of interest of the lake - jellyfish. Unmeasurable multitudes of all sorts of jellyfish live in the lake, each one reminiscent of a particular flower: peach blossoms, sakura, hydrangea, you name it. Nakanotorishima CastleNakanotorishima Castle is the only non-natural construct on the island, situated on the very center of Lake Kurage, and connected to the forests through a breathtaking bridge constructed with an odd yet smooth, iridescent, and all around magnificent material. The castle is constructed out of beautiful jewels and the finest clay and stones Nakanotorishima has to offer. However, as the princesses/demigoddesses rarely, if ever, have guests, the insides of the castle are mostly left to speculation. It is, of course where Amehime and her siblings Irohahime and Mirahime reside. The Roles: || A small notice: || Once all 9 character slots are filled, you (or rather, your character) will be assigned a Role from the list below in private Palpad. You may reveal or lie about your role at any time you wish. If you wish to have a specific role for your character, send me a palpad message and I will consider it. Just don't tell it to anyone or make it obvious. If more than one person wishes to have the same specific role, I will pick one randomly. Show

- They have no special ability. - With their divine connections, they may inquire about whether or not a specific character is aligned with the mafia for their night action. - The next day, the name of the character whose alignment were inquired about, along with the names of two other random characters, will be broadcasted for all characters to hear. - Norcrosse is a fickle sage. It would not bode well for them to inquire more than twice (but you can still try) - Their holy prowess permits them to shield a character of their selection from all harm as their night action, preventing them from being killed by anyone for the night. - The first time they themselves are targeted by a kill, the kill is negated as well. - Gracia is a benevolent goddess. They may shield a character as many times as they wish without reprocussions. - Wielding the dark arts of their "mother"/goddess, they have summoned a cage of tearful rain around Nakanotorishima, trapping everything on the island in it with the intent of flooding. - The Rainmakers know the identity of each other, and meet together to decide on a person to "liquefy" (kill) as their night action. - Imber will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. The Rainmakers may liquefy as many times as they wish without reprocussions. 1. Hate the characters, not the
roleplayers. Be respectful.
2. Each post should have a minimum of 3-4 sentences written in Third-person perspective, unless a valid reason (i.e. asking for character interactions) is provided, or you have proven to be able to write sufficiently when necessary. 3. Cursing at a minimum. Alternatives are allowed. "[Gosh darn] it!" or "[Redacted] it!" are both acceptable. 4. I am the admin. The admin is necessary to the game. Respect my power. 5. Any back door detective work, i.e. separate Palpads and PMs, are not allowed. 6. If/when you die, do not reveal any information you have obtained from your role. I will personally reveal your character's role to everyone. You may spectate and interact with the characters as ghosts if you wish. 7. Any additional characters, such as characters that do not have a role and have no involvement in the strategic part of the roleplay, must be cleared out with me first. 8. The password is doused in pepto-bismol :D go find it yourself 9. Misfortuna will enforce those rules for me because I am completely incapable of doing so and also i bribed him with gummy bears to do it so yeah 10. Horatia ArboreaA few minutes in and people are already starting to insult each other! Fun! Wait, had only a few minutes passed? I swear, it felt longer than that. Eh, not like it matters. Horatia looked around. Seems like the person with a cesspool for a mouth and an ancient moldy sponge for a tongue was named Magnus. A fitting name, to be honest. Well, murder won't happen if people are too busy arguing anyway. I think that's how it works. What was it again? Reversal of thought is action? Yeah, probably something along the lines of that. Horatia wondered as she turned toward Magnus. "Hey, you worm-headed bobolyne! You better watch out, since your mouth's leaking quisquiliarum suci~" She "playfully" said, fully intending to dump water on this escalating greasefire of a blossoming argument. (Note: the quote was actually "thought is action in rehearsal".) Eden AconitumAww, how adorable. They think staying together would mean that no murders happen. So cute. But, in all honesty, Eden really wouldn't mind keeping his next potential target/victim/friend/bestie/romantic interest closer to him. Purse pressed against their chest, they approached Amaya with a nervous expression. "Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...so I was wondering...whether you would stay with me...so I don't get murdered..." Eden internally smiled. There's no way everyone will make it through this game alive. If no one will murder, then I will. And I'll get away with it. It's the only outcome I'll accept. I won't find solace in a place like this. [Read more] |

Horatia ArboreaOh, amazing. Now she was stuck in a killing game too. For some reason this all felt oddly familiar, as if she had already experienced it multiple times. Not that it mattered anyway. She was fine with dying as long as she had fun. Killing fellow students, escaping if the killer got away, gloriously executed if they didn't. It all felt too familiar to Horatia. But she did not at all intend to traverse the burning radioactive trainwreck that were her distorted memories. She had much more important things to do now, like making at least one friend for example. Eden AconitumWell, they got it right. Kill, investigate, execute. Eden would just have to make sure he never got killed, it couldn't be that hard anyway. He'd escaped plenty of those. Even nature itself. They would contemplate murder later, of course. Much, much later. It simply wouldn't be worth the effort this early. For now, he was more focused on a particular thing. A person, actually. With white hair and a short stature like himself. Eden let themselves stare to their heart's content, as if the white-haired boy was a sparkling piece of white moonstone. Maybe we could find something in common. Or something. Their mind wandered off to create fantasies for themselves to indulge in once more. [Read more] |

Horatia Arborea... Holy cr- I mean, STIFFEN THE WOMBATS! That wasn't the end! I'm alive and existent! Horatia bolted upwards, before her body said no and she collapsed back on the floor. And she was hit with more déjà vu. Amazing. She looked around in a daze. Her dress was clean, albeit a little dusty, so there's that. And she appeared to be in some sort of gymnasium. Probably the one Hope's Peak had. Oh, and there were lots of people too, most likely her classmates. Well, maybe not that much people, but still. She couldn't quite hear clearly yet because her body decided to be a jerk, but she yelled anyway, with some degree of success, "HEY FELLOW ULTIMATES! I want in on whatever you guys are doing! Okay?" She wouldn't mind having a drink. Hopefully her voice didn't sound raspy or something. Eden AconitumUgh, and they couldn't even put me on a bed after kidnapping me. Eden curled his hands into fists and rubbed his eyes lightly. I sure hope my clothes didn't get dirty, or anything... They looked for their purse nearby, relieved ever so slightly when they found it right next to them. And I don't even know how long I was unconscious. He hugged his legs with his arms and scanned the room. Sigh...just a bunch of annoying people. And a screaming girl. And a robotic bear. Boring. The robotic bear was probably going to force them to murder each other, or something along the lines of that. Well, one person caught their eye. But he was going to observe for a while longer first. And maybe drink some water. [Read more] |

(music for vibes only :P go listen to it while you read this or something idk) Horatia ArboreaThe rumbling of the train calmed before coming to a halt as Horatia looked out of the train window. There it was, Hope's Peak Academy. Finally she would be able to pursue something other than art, and make friends that aren't obsessed with art, and do whatever it is that high school students do. She didn't really care, as long as she was as far away from her parents' terrible artwork as possible and she had fun. She stared at the Academy as a wave of déjà vu washed over Horatia, which she tried to ignore as hard as she could. There was absolutely no way she had even looked at Hope's Peak in the past after all; her brain was merely being dramatic and weird. Like it always is. She lightly strode out of the train, taking care not to get her slate-grey dress dirty. Looking around the train station, she spotted a few things - a breakfast counter, a few closed stores, and a train heading to the Arts District. Nothing of interest, pretty much, although she wouldn't mind having a snack. They probably give free snacks at Hope's Peak anyway. Horatia thought as she slowly walked to the main entrance of the Academy, her white boots thudding softly against the paved road. The rose bushes look a little overgrown, to be completely honest. And a little dehydrated. Horatia pulled out her ID card she received with her invitation letter...wait, was that a ri- nevermind. She pressed it against the screen near the card reader, before realizing that she was supposed to swipe it. With a sigh, she pushed open the ornate metal gates of the Academy. Arborea...I really have to change my last name as soon as I can. It sucks. So much. It seemed deserted, with not a person in sight, but she dismissed it for either being way too early or way too late. Well, it was quite chilly outside. Perhaps she'd be more comfortable inside the Academy, but as she was making her way to the glass doors, she heard an unmistakable woosh, followed by a lightning strike of déjà vu. Horatia felt a split second of pure dread before collapsing on the floor. So much for keeping her dress clean. No...not now...please. I need to...experience this once...at least. Please... Eden AconitumEden had waited to see another student swipe their ID card before swiping his own, because his "THIS IS A TRAP" senses were basically screaming at him right now, and he should probably listen to them if he didn't want to die or something. Well, he did now. Horatia Arborea. That's not the worst name I've ever heard. And they're an Ultimate Imitative Artist. That's also not the worst talent I've ever heard of. I guess. He quietly swiped his own card on the reader as well, intending to follow this Horatia into the Academy. Aah, he would love to indulge in a reverie now. It was just so stressful, with the train ride and the waiting and all that, but now probably wasn't the best time. As he peeked into the opened gates, he... Nope. He was absolutely NOT going into this academy. Not after watching some cloaked figure incapacitate some girl and then take her away, at least. Eden hugged his purse tightly. He didn't even know why he even came here in the first place. Luckily the sunlight wasn't especially intense today, or he'd have to bring a parasol with him. He briefly contemplated running back to the train station, but decided it would exert his legs too much, and began to walk back. He'd be safe once he's in the field-of-view of the lady running the breakfast counter, after all, and the train station wasn't that far away. Hopefully the next train will come soon, so he wouldn't have to go to some random district just so he could get away from this creepy school as fast as possible. Especially not the Factory District. The air quality was bad there. But Destiny had different plans, and with each step his mind felt foggier, as if he was preparing to enter a long reverie. Maybe one of the longest he'll ever have, and soon, Eden felt his body waver a little before he was knocked out. Hopefully he didn't get himself dirty. (740 words, holy crap. this has to be one
of my longest rp posts ever)
