Narcisse Michon"I wholeheartedly agree." Narcisse shook his head. He'd wanted to get a chance to talk to Detective Mawer alone... He supposed putting it off for a few hours would be fine. After all, she was always at the Agency. He could probably find the chance later. Great. Now I've jinxed it. He sighed. "I suppose dinner is off the table?" The baby janitor girl said something, then started walking away. Narcisse looked up, surprised. "Hey!" he called out sharply. "Hold on!" Niwa Atsushi"Eloi Torres," he repeated. "That's a nice name. I'm Niwa Atsushi... another detective, I guess. You like old superhero stuff?" Eloi Torres... Eloi Torres... He'd have to remember that name. Andreja Buivis“Pardon me, mighty Andreja. Don't you have better things to do than laughing at a high school student for no logical reason? I don't see how that gets work done around here. And on that note, I should probably be going myself.” Andreja considered this, and then punched him in the jaw. [Read more] |

Miyako HirotoMiyako froze, holding herself up by a hand on the doorway. No... A body was lying on the ground. She staggered towards it. Her hand reached out, fingertips almost brushing the silhouetted form. Somebody pushed her and she tripped. Her nose connected with the wall. For a second she was stunned as she slowly slid towards the floor and the bloody corpse beneath her- "No!" she shrieked, throwing herself backwards. From the floor, she stared uncomprehendingly at the... Girl's body. She couldn't stop shaking. It wasn't him. It wasn't him. Setsuna Jun"Ah!" Panicked, Setsuna wrapped his arms around himself. I'm so awkward and gangly and ughh! Why'd I do that? Stupid, stupid Setsuna... "Mi...Miyako, are you okay?" [Read more] |

Adrik VolkovI do now! "Yep!" he tried to lie with a straight face. "Totally. Love me some coffee. Mmm." Andreja started laughing beside him. He shot her a glare. What? he mouthed. What's wrong with that? She laughed louder. It was getting unnerving at this point. [Read more] |

Andreja BuivisThe baby intern perked up at that. "I can come with you Head Detective! It'd be an honour for me to hear anything you have to say." Oh great. A suck up. She rolled her eyes. Could it really get any better than that? [Read more] |

Miyako HirotoMiyako accepted her hand. "Come on!" She started dragging her down the hall. "We have to get there! We have to see who it is!" Please... oh god... "Hurry up!" Miyako gave the hand a yank. In the cafeteria..."Puhuhu~ how delightfully despairful! Mere hours before the prom, the first body is discovered! What a tragedy! How terrible for you all!" Monokuma strode into the room, laughing and clapping. "Well done! The killer has truly outdone themself. This murder is practically unsolveable! Clean cut, a nice alibi, and a thousand people to frame! I applaud them, truly! What an excellent performance on their part." [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)"Aww, you can't stay?" Nora pouted. "No, she can't." Narcisse crossed his arms. The murderous rage building in his eyes showed no signs of stopping, or even slowing down. She was a little impressed, as well as slightly terrified. "Some people do their job. They don't go around bothering their superiors. No, it takes a certain kind of idiocy to do that." Ooo weak spot! Little Narcisse was insecure about his job. This was going great. "Ah, but that's where you're wrong. What if it is my job?" "To torment me beyond human capability?" "Yeah, that, and to bring you down a peg or two! Teach you a lesson 'bout humility." Narcisse sneered. "That's just about the most foolish thing you've said yet. Keep going. Surpass your limits of morony. At this point, I'm not even surprised." Adrik Volkov"Ah, I see." Though he wanted to act happy for this nice person who was giving him some genuine advice, Adrik found himself drooping a little bit, avoiding eye contact. "...thanks for the tip..." "Some tip," Andreja snorted. "They're doing their best..." Adrik mumbled feebly. [Read more] |

Miyako HirotoMurder. In the cafeteria. She felt dizzy all of a sudden. A horrible weight was pressing in on her. All powerful. Too powerful. She could barely breathe with the terror that was ensnaring her lungs in an iron grip. Please. Don't let him be dead. I'm begging you. Shi, save him- Her hand found her girlfriend's, and suddenly she was looking right at her. Those beautiful blue eyes, staring down into the pit. Not noticing her. Not seeing her. Miyako's heart gave a lurch. "We need to go," she whispered. "Darcy be damned. Let Monokuma save him." Setsuna Jun"Yeah. The cafeteria." Setsuna couldn't stop staring at Sutaraitsu. When did he get so cute???? Just the way he looked at him... Setsuna recognised that the amount of blood rushing to his head probably wasn't healthy and may in fact lead to his early death, but he also recognised that he didn't really care. Goddamn, why was he such a simp...? Why was Sutaraitsu worthy of so much simping. "Yep!" He squeaked, jumping to his feet and nearly tripping over the blanket again. "Cafeteria! Let's go!" He seized Sutaraitsu by the wrist and started dragging him out the door, unable to even look at him. God; why am I like this? [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)Foiled again! She clenched her fist. I'll get you next time, Macy! Prepare yourself for the wrath of The Great Nora: aka the amazing Jace Mawer! "Naw, I got a bit distracted with Narsissy here." Nora giggled and reached over to pinch his cheek. He swatted her hand away and glared at her. "I do plan to, though! They're adorable... and I suppose they could prove to be preeetty useful, you know?" "Scheming again, I see." Narcisse narrowed his eyes. "And so the conniving snake rears its ugly head. What're you planning?" "I actually have a very pretty head. One I'd like to keep attached to my body!" Nora laughed. "I don't see how I could be planning anything. They're keeping me very busy~ maybe it's something to do with my upcoming promotion~?" The Head Detective's eyes flashed with cold rage. Ooo, that really pushed his buttons. He was actually clenching his jaw- like full on, teeth breaking grinding. She didn't know people actually did that outside the movies. Huh! Well you learned something new every day! Adrik Volkov"I-I have a few." Adrik bit his lip. "Um... what are our responsibilities here? Like, the basic stuff?" "You're free labour, kid." Andreja rolled her eyes. "You're here to be an extra janitor, but with the bonus of being treated even more like dirt. Your 'responsibilities' involve figuring out how much cream the big guy wants in his coffee." "Oh." He wasn't sure what to say to that so he just went on. "If we take on more immediate, investigatory roles, can we get extra credit for our internship? Is the agency directly involved with any universities?" [Read more] |

Miyako Hiroto"Yeah... I think there should be something." She bit her lip, feeling oddly out of sync with the conversation. Something else was happening right now. Something bad. It sent nervous tingles running up and down her spine. Does it have to do with... him? Setsuna Jun"Go?" Setsuna's face flared with heat. Then he realised. "OH! Oh yeah! Cafeteria! Not- ahahah. Don't worry about it." Cheeks flaming, he tried to get out of bed and tripped on the blanket. "OW! God, why must the world hate me?" In The Cafeteria...While Miko sat, sipping yoghurt and staring infinitely into space, light began to glint through the windows. The streams of cheerful sunniness traced patterns along the floor, dancing across the boards. As they crept, growing higher and higher with the sun, something in the far off shadows became illuminated... A bloodied form, a limp hand, a peaceful smile set onto a bruised and shattered face. Akora Menx... the Ultimate Veterinarian... was dead. All Around the School"A BODY HAS BEEN DISCOVERED! A BODY HAS BEEN DISCOVERED! EVERYONE PLEASE GATHER IN THE CAFETERIA!" [Read more] |

Narcisse Michon"Hey! Do you know where the cleaning supplies are?" Narcisse was minding his own business, plotting the murder of one Detective Mawer when a janitor approached him. "No. Do I look like I'd know?" He eyed her with growing irritation. "How old are you? Twelve? I didn't know they let children in the agency. Don't you have somewhere to be... like middle school?" Andreja Buivis"Oh, Head Detective Jemu!" Andreja beamed. "I wasn't aware that you were interested in the lower class. Was it getting boring up there at the top? I bet it was. Not very many people for you to yell at over there. I can't imagine how sad it must've been for you." She sneered, looking away despite herself. She never knew how to interact with the older detectives of the agency. Sure they were authority figures, but they were also... authority figures. Ew. "So what brings you over here? You want to toy with some baby interns? Hell, I won't stop you. Go right ahead." "You're... a head detective?" Glasses whispered. She levelled him with a glare and he shrunk under her gaze. "It's nice to meet you... sir..." Jace Mawer (Nora)"No! Gasp! The horror! How could they?" Nora shook her head in disgust. "Pathetic. The gall it had to tell you how to live your rapidly-diminishing grease-fueled life." It infuriated her. Imagine, a robot giving you health tips! Clearly it didn't understand that life sucked and that chicken made it better (and wonderfully shorter). She should give it a piece of her mind! "Sounds like you rehearsed that more than a few times, Nora." She perked up. "Macy!" She spun on her heel and clasped the girl's hands. "You bet I did! I had to practice my piss-off-Narcisse expressions right down to the crinkles in my face! It was a long and arduous journey, but it's all worth it to have you appreciating my efforts." I don't think I've tortured her in a while. Maybe I should steal her glasses and superglue them to the office teddy bear? After all, trolling her all-too-serious colleagues was one of her few pleasures in life. Macy seriously needed to be brought down a notch and this might be just the way to do it. Nora snuck a hand out of Macy's and subtly tried to reach for the girl's face. [Read more] |

Narcisse Michon"Stay," Narcisse interjected. He gave Laurier a grateful nod. Thank you, he mouthed. It was never easy dealing with the idiot brigade. Every time they showed their faces, they made a mess of things and a headache for him. Already he was expecting a fresh load of paperwork from this interaction. He wasn't sure how, but he figured that if anyone could figure that out, it'd be Detective Mawer. After all, her whole life's purpose seemed to be to cause him pain. He had learned never to underestimate her power for creating chaos (or insurance claims). Detective Mawer smiled at him, as though she somehow knew what he was thinking. "He might not be my senior for much longer. After all, there's been talk of a promotion for me. The ceremony tonight might just be the start of my increased responsibility." And if it is, God help us all. "Laurier, would you like to accompany me to dinner?" He checked his watch. "The orientation will begin at 7... we still have an hour to catch a meal." "Ah, that marks the end of that," Detective Mawer said ruefully. She turned to Detective Yu. "Hey, Yu-Yu! Wanna hit some fast food with me? These bores are probably going to some expensive ass authentic restaurant, but I figured you'd understand the importance of the fried maybe-chicken to a human's diet." She winked. Narcisse twitched. Oh, her face was such a nice target... so close... the urge to murder was growing irresistible... Niwa AtsushiOh he's very nervous. Niwa curiously watched the twitches of the others' face. His own moved to replicate it. "Y-You... you don't need to apologise... or qualify your statement or whatever else you're trying to do." He twisted a strand of hair around his finger. "It's honestly... fine. There's no real need to worry, y'know?" Adrik Volkov"An intern?" The girl guffawed. She laughed and kept on laughing as if she were in a fit, tipping back her head to cackle at the ceiling. Adrik tried to subtly sneak behind the other intern, and the girl noticed. Her laughter cut off and suddenly she was staring at him, her face completely expressionless. "What is this, Kindergarten? You trying to hide behind mommy's skirt? Scared of big bad Andreja?" There was an unpleasant note to her voice. Something lilting and singsong. As though she were mocking them. Which she probably was. Dear God. Please immediately make me a paperclip, or a toothbrush, or some other inane household item that can go hide in a drawer somewhere. Forever. "Is that your name?" he asked timidly. He nearly flinched when her cold eyes connected with his. "An...Andreja?" [Read more] |

Miyako Hiroto"Don't bother, Shi. You know I feel the same way." Miyako stared down into the endless darkness. A creeping sensation crawled like ice over her spine. "...But... I promise I won't let anything happen to you." She told her brother something about promises once. How you always kept them. Only the morally bereft didn't. Miyako shrugged off the thought, because it was strange and fleeting, and quite frankly irrelevant. There was no point to wondering about the past, wondering about how things might be different. It wouldn't change anything. It wouldn't make him smile at her again. Hmm. "We'll need something to climb with. Any ideas?" [Read more] |

Kubo AtsushiWhat are you sorry for, huh? Acting as if he didn't know- hell, maybe he was being honest. Maybe he didn't know. Maybe Kubo was apologising for nothing and Idris didn't care. He should probably just say nevermind, sorry for bothering you, asshole and finish searching these stupid labs once and for all. "Look," he said. "I'm sorry, alright? I'm sorry for what I said to you about her. It was stupid and I knew it, even then. God, I just- even if you don't care, I wanted you to know that. Goddamn, I just-" He paused. His hand brushed against the warm skin of his forehead. He dizzily wondered if he had a fever. Maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. He wasn't sure about a lot of things now. "I'm sorry." The words were foreign on his tongue. Awful tasting. He wanted to pretend he never said any of that. Get up and walk away. Maybe he'd start now- take a few steps forward and keep going, and going and going until even the faces of those still alive blurred to nothing. Running away, again, Kubo? He shook his head. Idiot. Kubo AtsushiKubo licked his lips. Oh, kinda dry. He wished he had some chapstick right about now. His hands were itching too. He wanted to shove them in his pockets, or in his gloves, or- He forced his eyes back to Idris. Say it. You have to say it. Kubo, please- For a second, Idris' eyes were Kaoru's. She was saying that she could be saved. That by his words, those eyes would remain, still and beautiful. They faded back into Idris's and- "I'm sorry," he said, and suddenly Kaoru didn't matter. The world of Shirakawa-go faded into the background and the eyes on him blinked out of sight. All that stood there was them. Him and Idris. All the guilt and pain and- "I'm sorry. I... I don't know what else to say. I shouldn't have..." Shouldn't have what? "I shouldn't have," he said quietly. "And I'm sorry." [Read more] |

Miyako HirotoHer brow furrowed. "Right. Save Darcy." Gotta love that. She heaved a sigh. "Might as well, I guess. You want to go down first, or...? Yeah..." Kubo Atsushi"Yeah, I guess." Kubo had to hide a wince. He hadn't even considered that. Was he slipping? Or were there always things he never considered, just waiting to be uncovered? It was a disconcerting thought. He imagined it would be that way for anyone... but that as the Ultimate Detective, it might come as a harsher blow. After all, being a detective is about people. You figure them out, and start deducting off of it. You need to have some kind of way to feel superior, else you stop assigning them categories and roles in your mind. If you start seeing them as equals... Well, everything breaks apart. It was a hard thought, realising just how little he knew. How misplaced his confidence had been all this time. Before he knew it, his lips were forming around the words. "Hey Idris... there was something I wanted to say to you. If it's okay." Not now, his mind argued. Wait until you're at Mei's, and he's emotionally vulnerable. Then you know he'll forgive you. But if Kubo did that, would he even be worthy of forgiveness? Manipulating Idris... dehumanising him... viewing him as a means to an end... He looked Idris in the eyes and he recognised another person staring back through those piercing, catlike eyes. He imagined himself in Idris' mind's eye. Little Kubo Atsushi, amber eyes and black collar. The one who tore him apart for no reason, other than to satisfy his own twisted... whatever. He wasn't sure what Idris thought, not really. Because he was another person. A person who everyone, especially Kubo, had chosen to degrade and dehumanise. To toy with. Even when people like Miyako said sympathetic things about Idris, it was never done without some mention to Mei. Mei, Mei Mei. As if that made someone valuable. As if he wasn't capable of so much more. Like how I make my everything about Kaoru. The shock of the statement nearly shook him out of his thoughts. He'd never considered just how closely he tied his identity in with Kaoru. Just how much he made her influence him. Of course he knew that she was a part if him... but he never considered his own role in it. How could he heal, if he was determined to stay hurt? How could Idris heal when everyone was determined he'd stay sad and broken without Mei? Maybe it was a poor comparison to make. But this was the closest he'd come to empathy in a while. So to hell with it. If he could live as Kubo Atsushi, he could stomach being a fool. A detective? He nearly snorted at the thought. Hardly. It's a miracle I can wipe my own ass. [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)"Charmed." She flashed a grin at him. "I suppose I am rather elderly then, darling. But you'll support this old gal through retirement, wontcha? It's just a few hundred dollars a month. You wouldn't let this poor dear grandmother down, riiiiiight?" She noticed one of the head detectives emerging from the side room. Dear Cadence Laurier, in all her spiteful glory. She'd just made up her mind to ignore her, when the lady started spitting her venom. "Oh! The puppy bares its teeth." Nora tipped her head to the side with a smile. "What might you be doing here?" Adrik VolkovAdrik jumped. Another intern? And coming to his defense? That was... A smile slowly started to spread across his face. "Aww, what do you know." The girl rolled her eyes. "Yes I'm aware of how glasses work. Who even are you? Another smart guy? Some big shot detective, getting too big for his britches?" Niwa Atsushi"Okay?" Niwa echoed. Was he okay? Yeah, he supposed, he was. "Yeah, I didn't fall or anything. Thanks though. I can be kinda clumsy sometimes." He ran a hand through his hair and laughed a little too long. He shut his mouth and ducked his head. When he spoke again, it was barely more than a mumble. "Are you okay? You seem kinda nervous... not that I can really say anything... I'm kinda scared myself." He lifted his head slightly; barely met the other kids' eyes, then ducked again. Narcisse Michon"I don't recall ever inviting you to our important discussion. What do you want, brat?" He stared down the little detective, doing his best to put all his pent up Mawer-inspired rage into his glare. Get lost, he mouthed at him. This doesn't involve you. "Call me Nora, Yu-Yu!" Detective Mawer said cheerfully, ever upbeat. "You gonna help us supervise the internees later? I imagine your old and creaky bones might be too weak to take all that youthful energy and modern pop culture. It's alright if you gotta back out." She winked at Detective Yu. Narcisse felt a headache coming on. "Your strange sense of humour continues to confound me." He ran a hand through his hair, trying to smooth out the curls. It was exhausting, dealing with Detective Mawer. He wasn't sure why he even bothered to try at this point. "Get to the point, please." [Read more] |

"Welcome to The Clockwork Detective Agency! Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime- heinous murder, theft, and tweed coats! Dressed in our dazzling colours of grey and beige, you'll meander around an office full of boredom and the sheer unrelenting agony known as a broken coffee machine." Detective Jace Mawer clapped her hands gleefully together. "Your tasks will include paperwork, more paperwork, and crying over the deadlines of paperwork, imposed by our robotaid overlords. You have no free will in this matter. If you felt like it, you could even say that this place will turn you into an android! An office one. Haha." Dead silence answered her. She was not deterred, but instead went on, "So prepare yourself for the adventure of a lifetime! I'm sure things will spice up soon. And when it does, we're here to pick up the pieces for you." She smirked. "Pick up the pieces... that were you, that is. Try and keep yourselves together, kiddins. There's only so many internees-mysteriously-disappearing cases that we can file under 'unsolved' before they start getting suspicious. I’m not expecting miracles, but if you can keep that number at two or three, then it’d be very helpful.” The silence somehow got louder. Was that even possible? Louder silence? She seemed determined to make it happen. “Anyway! Thanks for coming to Trainee Initiaion! Orientation starts at 7, same location. And remember, call me Nora!” She waved and whooped as if she were a rock star. An intern in the back was crying. “Have a great day!” Narcisse MichonAh. Jace Mawer, crazy extraordinaire. Nora. Narcisse barely withheld a sneer. Of course the higher ups gave that fool the initiation speech. Looking around, he could already pick out the bewildered expressions of the interns. He might've pitied their fear and confusion. But they weren't here to be loved or parented. Hardly. They were here to get a few extra course credits. Advance their portfolios so they could go on and be doctors and lawyers and stop rotting at the bottom of society. He nearly scoffed. So much for human superiority. What's your empathy doing for you now? Sure you can cry at Old Age movies, and feel bad when a puppy slips and cracks its fool head open in a sewer drain. Good for you. You'll still end up rotting in the slums. Very few humans these days had any money at all. They tended to project those inane dreams onto their kids. Childish adults, raising childish children. None of them would make it. He could tell just looking at the lot. Maybe the few who had some enhancements done to their brains... but then, could they really be called human? No... no, that was a dangerous train of thought. A slippery slope of morality. He shouldn't get sidetracked onto it. "Mister... Mister Head Detective?" Niwa. His eyebrow twitched. He wished to be anywhere else in the world at that exact moment. "Yes, Detective?" He braced himself. "I hope you have a good reason for bothering me." He spun to face the shrimpy kid and levelled him with an unimpressed stare. Niwa shrivelled. "It's... it's just that..." "What? Speak clearly." "We need you for orientation... the Head Detectives are supposed to..." "I am aware." "Oh..." Niwa wrung his hands out. "It's just that- it's supposed to start soon and the others were all gathering... and..." Narcisse checked his watch. "The orientation is at 7 o'clock, is it not? I imagine that my presence will not be needed until then. I was hoping to have dinner, beforehand." The kid looked like a kicked puppy. Narcisse might've felt bad, but honestly? He had it coming. Imagine, trying to teach the Head Detective how to do their job. The nerve. You aren't me, kid, and with the way this is going, I doubt you ever will be. "I was just... trying to be helpful." "Aw, give 'im a break, Narcisse." Detective Mawer grinned at him, popping up out of thin air as per usual. "Ya' don't need to go so hard on him. He's just a kid, you know." Niwa's eyes had lit up at her approach, but at her words, the light died and he started shrinking in on himself. Narcisse was well aware of the baby Detective's puppy crush on her. Ever since he came to the agency, Niwa was following her around as if she were some holy saviour. It was pathetic, honestly. Detective Mawer didn't care for any of the interns she folded into her little group. She would drop him and give it a kick for spare measure, should she think that doing so might get her a promotion. Detective Mawer met his gaze, a smile creeping onto her face. He was the first to break eye contact, turning to stare at the stage. "That was interesting," he acknowledged. "What you said, about androids." "I'm glad you think so. I had to sneak it in. My supervisors weren't so sure that it was the right way to go, but I thought that you might be particularly interested." Supervisors, eh? That's certainly one way to put it. Narcisse allowed his lips to go up in a little smirk. "You might, very well be right." Niwa was looking between the two of them, eyebrows furrowed. "How about you go for now, kiddo? The grown-ups need to talk." Detective Mawer gave him a little pat on the shoulder. "The others and I are going out to the pub later- if you want, you can hit up the new assistants. This stick in the mud certainly won't try to arrange any get-togethers." She shot Narcisse a grin. He stared back at her, wishing he could condense all the hate in his heart into a single glare. “Okay..." Niwa said slowly. He glanced between the two of them. Narcisse got a bad feeling. "I'll just... leave the two of you alone, then?" The bad feeling intensified. Oh, absolutely not. He opened his mouth to give the stupid, stupid child a piece of his mind, but Detective Mawer cut him off, "Yeah, for sure! See you later, 'kay?" The kid nodded mutely and started backing up. He ran into some little assistant girl, who started giggling, grinning at his blushing, clearly flustered face. "Sorry, sorry, sorry..." He fled into the crowd. Narcisse turned his glare on Detective Mawer. She grinned back. Good lord. He heaved an internal sigh. I am surrounded by idiots. "What do you want?" Andreja BuivisDamn, boring introductory speech. She'd been sitting through wayyy too many of those lately. Grad stuff, college stuff, think about your future Andreja! Do you really want to spend the rest of your life scrawling "I had a big sh*t" in bathroom stalls? And yes, she DID. And YES she DID zone out through that entire speech, MOM. "Call Me Maybe" began to scream out from her pocket. Aha! A call! She fished it out to see- Grandma. Eh. She hit ignore and began to survey her surroundings, taking in her future coworkers. So far, they looked lame and un-policey. The old cop shows always made detectives seem cool and tough, but so far it seemed like a whole lotta nonsense. Target acquired. A small, terrified looking kid stood there. He had thick round glasses that he was adjusting with trembling hands, nervous brown eyes blinking behind them and darting back and forth. Clearly new. Ooh! Fresh meat! She made her way towards him. Adrik VolkovThat speech certainly was... interesting. Should he be concerned? Or just... Yeah. He adjusted his glasses and released a shaky breath. Maybe he should go home and rest for a few hours. He didn't have to worry about orientation until 7:00. He could take the time to prepare himself mentally. This whole thing was starting to feel like a mistake. "Hey, kid!" A head popped up in the crowd. He pointed to himself and mouthed me?. "Yeah, you!" she yelled. "I wanna talk to you!" His mouth opened in an "o", and suddenly she was right in his face. "You look kinda cute like that," she said cheerfully. "Like an owl." She tapped the bridge of her nose. "My er- glasses?" "Yeah, your glasses make you look adorable." She nodded. "And that expression on your face. Kinda dumb, but in a loveable way." She grinned.
